Before Victoria could ask where she was in a hurry, the Norwegian woman closed the door behind her. After a quick glance at her phone screen, she made sure that she still had time to get to her destination, after which she headed down the corridor to the elevator. Astrid hadn't actually planned to visit LAW headquarters today, but she preferred to discuss important issues in person rather than over the phone. That's why she's here today. But now that the issue of the charity event had been successfully settled, she was free to devote the rest of the day to another, even more pleasant meeting.
Astrid Arvidsson
After waiting for the elevator, she pressed the button for the first floor. There was a slight smile on the blonde's lips as she was very excited about the upcoming meeting. Since she became a champion, her schedule has become much more intense. Because of this, her life in a sense turned into a vicious circle. After each match, she had to spend at least three weeks recovering, then intensive training began, and then a new match. At some point, she caught herself thinking that she shouldn't live like this. Even though the title continued to be her responsibility, she decided that she simply had to let herself relax from time to time. Just like today.
But as soon as the elevator doors opened, another obstacle appeared on her way to a pleasant pastime. There was a journalist, whom Astrid had already seen at several conferences, as well as a cameraman. Astrid didn't believe in coincidences, at least not in such like this one. So she had no doubt that they were here to ask some exclusive questions outside conferences. She didn't have much desire for it, but before she could say anything...
"Astrid Arvidsson!" The journalist exclaimed, which made the blonde raise her left eyebrow. "What a coincidence!"
"Is it?" She replied skeptically, only surprised at how surreal the situation was.
"Of course, we came here to shoot some videos in the gym on the second floor," it was obvious that this was complete nonsense, but the journalist persistently pretended that everything she said was true. "But since we've met the openweight champion herself, could you answer a few questions, please?"
Astrid noticed that the camera was already on, which in turn meant that if she refused, even this could become news. She didn't want to read the headline "narcissistic champion refuses to answer questions" tomorrow, but at the same time she couldn't afford to waste time on it. So she found a compromise for herself. Maybe not the best one, but still.
"You have time until I get to the lobby," she said, then allowed herself a smile. "So keep up."
With a confident step, she headed forward down the corridor. Considering the three turns she would have to make, the journalist had no more than five minutes to answer questions. So, speeding up their pace, she and her cameraman tried to follow Astrid's advice and keep up with her.
"Tell me, what is your assessment of the current state of affairs in the roster?" The journalist began, wasting no time. "There have been more and more newcomers lately and..."
"That's right," Astrid said before she could finish, realizing that if she didn't start answering the question right away, then not the most pleasant additions might be added to it. "There have been more and more newcomers lately, and many are starting their careers as if they were born for pro wrestling." The blonde turned her head to the side and one short glance at the journalist was enough for her to understand that this woman expects a more scandalous response from her. "Not so long ago, I could also be called a newcomer, so I fully support those who come to the federation and know exactly what they want to achieve." Astrid did not play along and remained honest. "But I want to note that veterans also keep the bar high, not allowing newcomers to take everything into their hands, thanks to this healthy competition reigns in the roster, which in turn means that the current state of affairs in the roster is probably better than ever, at least in recent years."
Not so long ago, Astrid would hardly have been able to answer the question so clearly. Before she became a champion, she did not participate in conferences with journalists, even during promos she usually preferred not to throw words around, but to immediately call her rivals out. So in a way, she has matured thanks to people like this journalist.
"What about the title scene? You said that the current state of affairs in the roster is probably better than ever in recent years, can you say the same about the title scene?" A smile formed on the journalist's lips, because it was an even more tricky question than the previous one.
"Every champion since LAW was founded has contributed to the federation," Astrid said with a slight shrug, thereby making it clear that this question did not bother her at all. "Some more, some less, but it seems to me that you should spend a little more time directly on wrestling, rather than trying to dig up someone else's dirty laundry." A slight blush formed on the cheeks of the journalist, but her silence allowed Astrid to continue. "Because in that case you wouldn't need to ask this question, over the past two years, the federation has changed the holder of every belt except the tag team titles holders, which in turn means that the SWAT Cats are still showing amazing results in the ring." Astrid turned the corner, but she didn't stop talking. "But if you need my opinion, then here it is, every champion in the person of Kyoko, Alaina, Annie and others, including your humble servant..." Astrid looked at the camera a little theatrically. "We are all trying both for the sake of the federation and for the sake of the audience, and as my manager says, statistics cannot be deceived, and statistics show that matches on the title scene attract more attention than ever, so I think that with the title scene everything is fine."
Considering that there are only a few steps left before the last turn, the journalist has only time for one question. Astrid noticed that the woman was desperately trying to make a choice in a last-ditch attempt to make the champion to say something that would offend both readers and other wrestlers. And although Astrid had already prepared herself for this question in her heart, she still had to make some efforts not to growl after the journalist stopped on that option.
"We are approaching We Are LAW 7," she even paused briefly, clearly enjoying the moment. "Do you have any thoughts about the next contender for the openweight title?"
If Astrid got a hundred yen every time she was asked this question, she could buy herself an extra beer at a cheap bar. Nevertheless, it was this question that, for some reason, always irritated her. However, she was a person of her word, so she was obliged to answer even though she had already reached the last turn before the last part of the corridor to the lobby.
"Tell you what..." Astrid began, turning her head towards the camera and thus turning the corner literally blindly.
