History:
Spoilered for long
From an early age, Kristin was an athletic tomboy, enjoying playing outdoors and roughhousing with her classmates. As she got older, she realized that she wanted to channel that energy into her passion for athletics. She strived to excel in sports - and in particular, she found a particular calling in wrestling. The idea of pitting herself in competition against an opponent, pushing herself to succeed at all costs and to achieve complete control against someone striving just as hard to overpower her had an appeal to her that she couldn’t quite place, but that she knew she wanted to chase after.

Following her passions, Kristin trained in wrestling and joined her high school wrestling team - where her dedication and commitment to the sport took her far. It turned out that she was naturally gifted - and when she felt as driven as she was to achieve success in a field that held such importance to her, she was able to translate that into great results. She quickly emerged as a dominant force in the team, and was soon named the top wrestler in her class. That success would go even further beyond - Kristin competed in tournaments across Canada, emerging victorious every time. Every victory she achieved only served to further embolden her, and convinced her that she was following her dream - and that she was exactly where she needed to be. If she was this good at wrestling, she thought, she might as well put her heart and soul into it all the more. But what would really convince Kristin she was on the right path was when her success in wrestling caught the attention of Canada’s national womens’ Olympic wrestling team - and she was nominated to represent Canada in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

To Kristin, being chosen as an Olympic athlete was a big deal. It was a culmination of everything she had done in her life thus far. She had devoted everything to honing her skills as a wrestler, and now it would pay off if she could demonstrate those same skills in front of the whole world, to a bigger audience than anything she could ever imagine before. Of course, it was a frightening thought, too. She would be going out of the country for the first time, surrounded by strangers, in a whole other continent where she barely spoke the language. At one point, she came close to bailing on the whole thing entirely. But she reminded herself that she never had an opportunity like this before, and she might not ever again. She had to take pride in how far she’d come!

Ironically enough, for all Kristin’s fears about being cut off from the familiar and the known, her trip to Tokyo would end up introducing her to the person who would change her life forever - Kaoru Katagiri. Not long after Kristin arrived in Japan, she would meet the Japanese wrestler in the training facilities - and the two quickly became rivals. Kristin’s competitive spirit burned hot, and she wanted Kaoru to know on no uncertain terms that she didn’t intend to lose. But Kaoru was a hometown hero, and she was all the more determined to give her country a win on the grand stage. Not just that, but she came from a proud line of martial artists, and she wanted to do justice to her family legacy. The two girls were both determined and headstrong - and when they were pitted against each other, those personalities could only come into conflict.

In the leadup to the Games, Kristin and Kaoru spent plenty of time watching each other, studying their tactics so they knew how to counter them. It had become personal. Both of them felt they needed to win, just to prove that they wouldn’t let themselves be bested by the other, and they began to train not just to succeed, but to outdo one another. When they sparred, it would only get even more heated, and other wrestlers reported them going uncharacteristically hard on one another; rumor even had it that they were involved in at least one catfight when they ran into each other after hours when no one was looking (Kristin won’t comment on it, but it was actually two; one in the locker room and one in the showers). Both of them knew they needed to be the best, and neither of them could tolerate that honor going to the other.

However, as time passed, the two girls began to realize something. As fierce as their competition was…neither of them actually hated the other. There was no personal grudge, and no animosity. They were just both determined to be the best, and there could only be one. In fact, Kristin began to recognize that Kaoru had that same determination she saw in herself, and she grew to respect her for it…even if she was still totally going to win.

By a stroke of fate, when the brackets were announced, it was determined that not only would Kristin and Kaoru be competing on the same day…they had been matched up against each other. Those who knew about what was going on between them speculated if they had been matched up on purpose to create more drama, but whatever the case was, Kristin knew that now, more than ever, she had to win, just to prove herself against Kaoru! When their match finally came, it was perhaps the most important match Kristin had ever been in to date. Her own self-respect was on the line. She had to beat Kaoru, just to prove that she could.

The match between them was a long and hard-fought one, with both pulling out all the stops to put up the best fight they could against their pitched rival. Both of them traded points, reversing every guard and pin attempt they put each other through. In the end, though, Kristin would emerge victorious, scoring a pin on an exhausted and spent Kaoru right before the match was about to end on time. At last, she had claimed victory over her rival.

…And she felt remarkably empty.

After all she had gotten caught up in her rivalry, Kristin had expected defeating Kaoru to be a dramatic, life-changing moment she would honor forever after. But she had come to respect Kaoru and her dedication so much that defeating her just wasn’t as satisfying as she thought it would be. After that rivalry had consumed her for so long, was it just going to end there? Was she supposed to just move on from something that had given her a reason to push herself past her limits as much as it did?

When Kristin found out that the Japanese crowd had turned on Kaoru for losing to a foreigner on her native soil, she was filled with guilt for how carried away she’d gotten. She approached Kaoru in private to apologize for all she’d done, and to let her know that it had never been about her - she was just desperate to succeed. Wanting to make it up to her rival, the two of them decided to spend more time together, training and getting to know each other more personally. The least she could do, she thought, was to cheer Kaoru up.

Wanting to make the most of her time in Tokyo, Kristin had Kaoru show her around the city, visiting her favorite attractions and getting to know the local hotspots. And, over time, Kristin began to realize something else about herself - something that, in retrospect, made everything she felt about Kaoru make perfect sense. For the first time, she realized she liked women. And the bond she shared with Kaoru was more than just that of rivals or fellow competitors.

At first, she was ashamed and embarrassed - there was no way, she thought, that Kaoru would ever accept this in her, let alone reciprocate. But during one late-night visit to the Tokyo Dome City Ferris Wheel, she couldn’t hold it in any more, and let Kaoru know her feelings. And, in what quite possibly shocked her the most…Kaoru didn’t judge her. In fact, she was willing to commit to the relationship.

The last chapter of Kristin’s life had been settled, but the next one was just beginning. She and Kaoru were officially a couple. With Kaoru being disowned by her family, both after her loss and after admitting feelings for a woman (let alone a foreign woman), the two of them decided to move in together, getting an apartment in Tokyo. Over time, this helped Kristin settle into the culture, with a little help from her new girlfriend.

Wanting to do even more with her, Kristin proposed that they take their talents professionally, becoming a tag team under the name of Double K. With both of them being top-level competitors on the amateur scene, Kristin and Kaoru would soon emerge as a dominant force in the indies - a force that would soon attract the attention of LAW, which soon offered the couple their biggest contract yet. Now, the two of them are ready to take their career to the next level, not as rivals, but as a team!
Personality: Compared to her girlfriend, Kristin is a very serious, driven person who tends to take things far too seriously. She’s a driven and competitive person, and this can translate to her having a short temper and little patience - as well, she can easily get frustrated with things that aren’t going her way, and has a bad habit of holding grudges. She’s stubborn and can get tunnel vision; if she settles on a plan, she tends to lock onto it and refuses to accept any other options, even if things don’t go her way. However, she can respect anyone who’s just as driven as she is, and admires the commitment of her fellow athletes. Even if she can get annoyed with Kaoru’s jokes at times, she loves her all the same and wouldn’t trade her for the world.

Trivia:
  • Kristin is self-conscious about her large breasts, as she feels like people won’t take her seriously because of them.
  • She does, however, prefer dressing skimpily, especially in the summer, because it makes her feel comfortable and helps with heat and ease of mobility. She just doesn’t like people reminding her of her bust size.
  • Kristin is of Swedish descent. Combined with her being Canadian, she jokes about how this makes her impervious to the cold. On the flip side, she can’t handle heat very well.
  • She has a good tolerance for beer, but can’t handle sake - something that has become an issue for her now that she lives in Japan.
  • She credits Astrid Ostberg as a big inspiration for her getting into wrestling.
  • Kristin is exclusively lesbian, but never actually realized this until meeting Kaoru as she doesn’t have much of a sex drive and prefers to focus on athletics. Before then, she never really felt much attraction to anyone. She’s technically demisexual homoromantic, but identifies as a lesbian because ”people actually know what that means.”

Fighting Style: In the ring, Kristin favors a more aggressive style, pushing her momentum and trying to keep her opponents tied down with offense. Thanks to her background in amateur wrestling, she’s well-versed in grappling and takedowns, and she tends to focus on getting her opponents on the mat so that she can lock down control from above. She isn’t above a little bit of brawling sometimes, particularly when she gets heated, but she tries not to let it get out of hand.

Favored Match Types: Kristin isn’t too picky about what matches she’s put up to. She prefers working with Kaoru in tag matches, but has no qualms about competing on her own as well, though she’ll usually have Kaoru stand at ringside if she’s alone, as she likes having her there for support. For the most part, she prefers a good, clean fight like she’s used to, but isn’t opposed to dipping her toes into more hardcore or lewd matches.

Finishing Moves:
Olympic Slam
Saskatchewan Slam
A head-to-chest firemans’ carry takedown.

Relationships with Other Characters:
  • Kaoru Katagiri is Kristin’s girlfriend and tag partner. Even if they started out as rivals, they quickly came to acknowledge they shared a passion for their sport and a dedication to honing their skills that they couldn’t help but appreciate, and that appreciation developed into love. They’re fully devoted to one another and will stand in each others’ support.
