Legend of the Warrior Princess: The Saga of Fang: Episode One

Post by ZorzLeth »

Long ago…in a time before the world as we knew existed, an age undreamed of rule the lands. An age of High Adventure. An age of Wars and Sorcery. An age of Monsters and Gods.

The Lands of the Western World have been thrown into turmoil. With the fall of a mighty empire, scattered tribes vie and war with each other to try and become the next dominant force of the land. To become the next great empire of the world.

Our adventure begins with one warrior, whose path is made on the desire of justice and vengeance, as she traverses across this landscape. Fighting monsters and villains. Protecting and saving the innocent! All to an end that only she desires and seeks.

This is the Legend of the Warrior Princess…

This is the Saga of Fang…

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode One: The Fight - Part One

The day was still young as the lone traveler walked along the dirt road. The figure herself, was covered in a long cloak and hood that concealed her face and body; head to toe. The perfect wear for someone who has traveled on her own for a long time.

The landscape surrounding her could be easily perceived as that of the French countryside. Many fertile plains and rolling hills showed that nature held dominion; with few villages that were spread about.

The Traveler herself came to this land a few days ago; having sailed from another realm that she considered her homeland. She was passing through these parts, not paying much mind to the other people that she came across. Merchants, traders, ordinary civilians, few mercenaries, it did not matter to her. She was on a mission, on a quest of her own. Or at least…that’s what she was originally doing this day.

After a few hours of walking, the Traveler had taken a nap underneath some trees in a nearby forest. The forests could provide perfect cover if one did not want to be seen by bandits, rogues and other unsavoury people. Then again, there were also creatures and monsters that could be found lurking in the dark places if one was not careful. The Traveler though, knew just where to lay down; so that she was not out in the open, but did not wander deep into unknown places that could hide monstrosities.

She had been resting quite well, and figure she could reach the settlement she was journeying towards by the end of tomorrow; especially with how well rested she was.

That was until she could hear something…or more accurately…someone. As it got louder, the Traveler realized that the sound was that of terror. It was the sound of screams, which were accompanied by the sounds…of other people…not screaming…but cheering…viciously.

The Traveler finally came to, waking from her sleep, as she moved out from the edge of the forest to investigate. As she followed the sounds, she began to smell…smoke…like something was burning. These factors could lead to one thing in the Traveler’s mind. And that was what she saw before her.

Just a few kilometres away, a village was burning. Set ablaze as the sounds of screams and combat were made. The signs were clear to the Traveler. This was a raid…a raid by bandits…or something more fearsome….barbarians.

The Traveler had her own priorities, but could not ignore the carnage that was about to happen. Innocents would either die or be captured as slaves. She had to do something. And do something, she would do.

She made her way to the village as quickly as possible. Of course…it would have been easier if she had transport.

Of all the times I had to be without a horse.” The Traveler said to herself, annoyed that she did not have a quick means of reaching the village, "At least I'm getting my exercise for the day.." But she would get there, in time to see barbarians having their run of the place; pillaging and plundering.

Homes being torched, men lay dying or dead in the dirt, women and children being rounded up like cattle while what little they owned was violently ripped away from them. That was the sight Fang came across when she entered the village. Hulking brutes easily twice the size of any of the villagers present gleefully ran amok around the burning village- claiming whatever they could get their hands on. Hell- one Barbarian was seen carrying a large, cozy-looking bed over his head. Like- the ENTIRE bed. Frame and all. Some Barbarians were even trying to snatch ill-gotten gains from each other just because they wanted it. Greed ruled their thoughts with not a single brain cell considering the innocent people terrorized by the brutes.

One Barbarian, however, stood out from the rest.

Among the chaos being sowed in the street, one particularly large Barbarian- even bigger than some of the others present, did not participate in the robbing and the looting. Instead, he simply stood in the middle of the village and was... quiet. Observant. Watching the atrocities being committed with a silent mouth and a loud mind as he appeared deep in thought. Along with traditional Barbarian garments, This quiet giant bore tattoos on his legs, cheeks, and exposed abs- ones that resembled black flames. He also wore a mane of crimson red hair with eyes as green as emeralds and upon closer inspection, fur at his armor's shoulderblades appeared to have been burned- wearing a charcoal black stain on top of the snow-white fur. An injured man who lay not far from the Barbarian's location dragged himself across the dirt and grabbed hold of a crossbow- aiming at a nearby Barbarian before the quiet one's eyes snapped to the villager. In an instant, a massive great axe came plummeting down on the villager's hand- but not cutting it off. Instead, the hand was pinned to the dirt with the spike in its middle piercing the villager's hand- forcing him to release the crossbow and wailing in pain before the Barbarian spoke.

"...Do not be a hero. You will be only making things worse for yourself... and I will share the same warning with you as well- stranger"

The Barbarian raised the axe off the ground- causing the villager to scramble away to safety before the giant turned his attention to the cloaked figure, addressing her in a commanding tone- but not a disrespectful one.

"What is happening here does not concern you. I will ask you only once to remain outside the village until our duty is done- then you shall be free to pass through. Resist and we will be forced to treat you as an enemy. Do you understand?"

The Traveler had arrived at the village and saw what remained. Many homes were destroyed and men laid dead. She would see the women and children being rounded up and being terrorized by these barbarian brutes. She took a few more steps until she heard the voice of one of the barbarians calling out to her. She heard and immediately took notice of the red haired, green-eyed barbarian that subdued a villager. He commanded her to stay out of the business of his group; in exchange that she would be allowed to pass afterwards.

No doubt he would keep his word. However, the Traveler was not going to let this happen. Especially when she saw how the women and children were being treated; which brought back...memories to The Traveler.

"I didn't expect a redhead to be among these boozos." The Traveler said, making a teasing remark, "I thought you were all still living in the Highlands and fighting Ol' Nesse." It was clear that the Traveler was not daunted by the commanding presence the Barbarian gave out.

"Now, as tempting as that offer is, I can't wait till you're finished." the Traveler continued, "Besides, it's clear you all need a lesson in manners."

She took another step and she was flanked by two Barbarians, both lanky, wore wolf pelts and poor armour, and...the Traveler almost broke her composure on having to close her nose; cause heavens forbid...they stank. They both carried heavy axes.

"Didn't you hear the boss?" One of them shouted, "Clear off, before we decide to..."

"Do things to me?" the Traveler cut-off, "First off, not very creative...but what can I expect from a dumb brute?" The one brute that was talking felt offended. He swung at the Traveler. The Traveler, however, ducked and kneed him hard in the groin. The poor guy doubled over, as it was clear that this individual was wearing some kind of armour. The Traveler's leg, having emerged from the cloak to knee the barbarian in the groin, was indeed covered in metal plating, as it would retreat back into the cloak.

"Second, if you want a girl, be more courteous instead of thinking that rape and force gets you what you want." the Traveler continued to say to the two brutes, "And finally, when was the last time you two bathed? Have you been sleeping with the pigs too much?" Both the brutes were now pissed off by this woman's slander as they went in to attack.

From the woman's cloak emerged an elaborate broadsword, which was used to instantly cut down one of the brutes; after the Traveler dodged another swing of the heavy axe. The other brute attempted a swing with his axe, but the Traveler brought her sword up to block the attack. She moved in swiftly to stab the remaining brute in the gut and take him down.

She then turned back to the Barbarian that spoke to her. The Traveler pulled her hood back to reveal a beautiful, young woman. One with fair skin, blue eyes and long, wild, black hair.

"Barbarians..." the Traveler said with a sigh, clearly not impressed, before speaking to the Barbarian. "Those weren't the first barbarians I've killed. Now leave this village!"

The redheaded Barbarian silently watched as the stranger cut down two of the men who attacked her- offering no reaction of any sort to the death of his fellows. His attention shifted to the traveler- who finally revealed her face as she threw her hood off and locked eyes with her as he spoke.

"I truly wish you didn't do that, stranger. Skilled fighters are becoming harder to come across- it'd be a shame to remove talent such as yours from this world"

The Barbarian gripped his greataxe again, wielding it in a battle-ready stance as he continued to address the woman- his would-be opponent.

"We cannot abide by your request. We have our orders- and you have cut down our brothers. Honor forbids me for letting you off easy. Prepare yourself, travler, for you face no mere Barbarian. You face their prince!"

The other Barbarians gather around and cheer loudly as Oscar casually twiled the great axe like the massive weapon was made of paper. With his challenge declared, the Prince would advance onto the woman and grip the axe with both hands- looking swing the weapon at the heroine in a diagonal slash!

As the Traveler held her ground, she saw the Barbarian approach, with his great axe in hand. She heard the Barbarian mention about her "needlessly" having to kill a couple of "skilled fighters."

"To be fair, they swung first." The Traveler responded, making a smart-ass remark, "Besides, I'd be really concerned if they were what you called "skilled"." She saw the Barbarian get closer and say that now he had to deal with her.

"I think your understanding of honour is off, based on how the women and children would've been treated." The Traveler brought up before the Barbarian got closer. Then, she saw the Barbarian, who declared himself as a Prince, lunged at her with his axe; aiming to cut her down with a diagonal slash. The traveler avoid the attack and slashed at the Barbarian; of course more to ward him away from her.

"If you insist, Great Prince...." The Traveler said as she gripped her robe and cast it off of her. She was now standing before all. Her body was glad in armour that was protective, yet rather revealing in some areas. Her beautiful and ample form was glad in armour that covered just enough to be protective in some areas, yet showing off skin. She had medium shoulder plates and armour that would protect her chest, arms and legs; clearly design for a woman of her height and build to be able to fight and move without feeling restricted.

"Just know that I have to be somewhere in a couple of days, so I can't play with you for too long." The Traveler continued, holding a firm position with her broadsword. Then, she went in to attack the Barbarian with some jabs and slashes.

The Prince quickly stepped back as the stranger swung her sword- avoiding the slash as he backed off to listen to the woman speak some more.

"You misunderstand me. I was speaking of you, not the men you slayed. As for the women and children... it is not my place to question my orders. Better this than death"

The stranger threw her cloak away, revealing the armor she wore underneath before she lunged at him. Gripping his greataxe once again, the two began clashing with one another- the Barbarian using his axe to parry the woman's sword strikes while occasionally twisting his body to avoid slashes coming his way before taking the offensive and slashing at the woman multiple times with the massive war axe!

"Thanks for the compliment, but I'm going to have to say no to your recruitment pitch." the Traveler said as she brought her blade up to narrowly deflect some of the axe swings. The Barbarian, as the Traveler could tell, was clearly stronger than her physically, so she could not stop the blows. Of course, her build let her to outmaneuver her opponent better.

After parrying the axe swings, the Traveler kicked the Barbarian in the shin to force him on one knee as she made another attempt with her sword to slash at him.

The Prince grunted out and kneeled down as his knee was struck by the stranger. When she brought her sword down, the Barbarian would parry the strike by thrusting the shaft of the axe into the blade. If he was successful in making her stagger, the prince would retort by swiftly sweeping his leg under the woman's- looking to knock her down to the ground as well!

The Traveler managed to knock the Barbarian to the ground. However, just as she was about to bring her sword down, to deliver a grievous wound (if not a fatal blow), her attack was intercepted by the shaft of the axe. The female warrior would find that as her attack was blocked, her opponent took the chance to sweep her legs.

"Ngh!" The Traveler grunted as she collapsed to the ground. She rolled quickly to try and get back up on her feet.

The Prince would use his axe to help him to his feet before advancing on his grounded opponent- using the weapon to slash and swing at the stranger as she rolled back. The goal of this was simple: keep her on the defensive. Sooner or later she was going to make a mistake and when she did, the prince was going to make it costly for the woman.

"Do not mistake me for the brainless brutes you faced from before! I am their prince for a reason!"
