Three. Valerie’s favorite number. ”Yatta.”

She muttered the word under her breath as the final slap came down, and the crowd roared, giving her a standing ovation. From the sound of things, that had been a big deal, and wasn’t hard for her to understand why. Though she’d had some great success in LAW so far, this match was probably her biggest challenge yet, taking on someone far above her pay grade. Kyo had been more of a technical test, forcing her to rely on technique to outmaneuver him. On the other hand, El Rey had pushed her to the physical limits in a way that no one had before and she doubted many would ever again. If he’d kicked out, the match would’ve been over. She simply would not have had the energy for another big move.

But she did it. Somehow, someway, she did it, and it felt good. So good.

Valerie released his leg, rolled over, and sat on the mat with her legs outstretched, using El Rey’s body like a pillow. The referee came over and lifted her hand, but she sat momentarily, catching her breath. Once she’d regained enough air, she gritted her teeth, rolled forward, and pushed up to her feet with the ropes’ support, standing on wobbly legs. She was about to leave the ring, eager to get to the back and shower, when she looked back over at El Rey. As mad as she was and as mad as she’d stay about having her face ground on, she had to admit that he’d given her a great match and that he was a respectable - if occasionally irritating - opponent. She could almost hear her mothers nagging - she had to go back over there and do the proper thing.

She came over and gave El Rey a solemn bow, doing her best to keep the annoyance off of her face. ”Thank you for the match.” She sighed. "You fought well."

After being crushed against the mat with force enough to finally keep the luchador down for a three count, the very first one that he had suffered in his career within LAW, the masked man would lie on the mat, body aching and feeling quite out of it. Turned out that being dumped onto your head would do that to a guy, but slowly, his senses were coming back to him. He was just beginning to register the feeling when Valerie suddenly loomed over him once more, and he figured that he must have lost a bit of time between hitting the mat and now, as she had already gotten herself back to her feet. But now she was standing over El Rey, with the muscled man wondering if she perhaps were coming to kick him while he was down. Literally, given how she had reacted to his stinkface.

In a nicer turn of events, Valerie didn't stomp on him, as he might have expected. Instead, she leaned down and gave him a bow, a show of respect to a fellow wrestler before thanking him for the match, though it sounded like she was forcing the words out to be polite. He'd take it, of course, even a forced show of politeness was better than what others might have given him, and the masked man would give a low groan as he slowly pushed himself up to a seat, before looking up at her, rubbing the back of his head!

"No need to thank me, the pleasure was all mine... -ow." El Rey groaned, giving a very halfhearted chuckle before he took another look at Valerie, deciding if his luck was worth pushing. As always, it didn't take long to decide.

"So... I don't suppose you would actually wanna go get dinner sometime then?" He proposed with a smile, as he grabbed the rope beside him and began to pick himself back up. She seemed quite annoyed by having his behind in her face, but that was nothing that a little bit of fine dining in a nice restaurant couldn't fix, right? At the very least, she (hopefully) couldn't blame a guy for trying.

Now that her heart was settling and her blood wasn’t racing, Valerie could come off the post-match high that inevitably followed such a heated contest, taking some of her edge off along with it. While she wasn’t exactly happy to have her face rubbed in El Rey’s rear, she could at least respect that he hadn't done so out of malice. It was just his idea of having fun, playing things up for the crowd, and she doubted he would’ve done differently for any opponent. And at least he’d done her the courtesy of keeping his backside reasonably clean.

He’d given her a good match and tested her limits, and she’d come away with a respectable win. She couldn't complain that much.

Valerie nodded and turned to leave, but he spoke up before she could make her way out of the ring, offering to meet up again—not just at a restaurant, either, almost as if… ”Are you asking me on a date?”

She blinked a few times, trying to process this, a first-time event. Her success in this area hadn't been too hot historically—though she was born in Japan and lived there for most of her life, she’d always been labeled as an outsider, just based on her looks and size. Most guys were either scared of her at first sight or figured she was lesbian just because her parents were a same-sex couple. The idea of anyone - let alone a guy she’d been beating up just a few seconds ago - asking her out was a foreign concept, one she couldn't quite compute.

After the initial shock wore off, she straightened up and sighed. ”I’ll think about it.” It seemed like the best, most diplomatic answer to give - she wasn’t in the best headspace to be making decisions at the moment. Needed to get home, calm down, and think straight.

With a quick, respectful nod, Valerie slipped through the ropes and made her way back up the ramp, bumping fists with a few fans before she disappeared behind the curtains.

El Rey was, in fact, asking Valerie on a date.

It seemed that the blonde had boundless talent in the ring, and yet each time that El Rey had potentially tried to flirt with her, it had bounced off of her like trying to talk to a brick wall. Certainly not a bad thing, some women weren't all that receptive to flirting, but it felt a bit more like Valerie genuinely wasn't that familiar with the concept, and so El Rey figured that being direct might help him out a bit more. And it was enough to get his point across to Valerie, who stood across from him, looking a bit confused at the idea, but El Rey waited patiently for her to give him an actual answer. Making assumptions based on silence wasn't the ideal way to get a date either, after all.

Eventually, her answer did come! And it was... it wasn't a yes. Usually, when a woman responded to the question of if she wanted to go on a date by saying she'd think about it, it generally was just the nicer version of saying "no." However, as established, Valerie was a bit of a different case, and when she said she'd think about it, she seemed like she really meant it.

"Alright, well in that case... I'll see you around sometime." El Rey called out as she made her way up the ramp before disappearing, the luchador staying to give one more wave to the crowd before he departed the same way, up the ramp and out of sight!

Winner via Pinfall: Valley Doll III
