History:
Spoiled for long
Most people would expect the daughter of a Russian oligarch and the heiress to a multi-million dollar oil empire to have their life made. No obligations, no financial woes, all the resources one could wish for, and the opportunity to live in the lap of luxury 24/7. That’s the kind of life Alena was born into…and she hated it.

For her, not having any problems in life meant a whole lot of sitting around doing nothing. She barely had any friends growing up - she was taught by a private tutor and couldn’t relate to her peers when she was far wealthier than anyone around her. The whole time, her father expected her to one day take over the family business, and he took every measure possible to ensure his daughter would grow up to be a shrewd, capable businesswoman worthy of running one of the country’s most prominent oil firms.

However, Alena was captivated by something else entirely - the world of professional fighting! From a young age, she was fascinated by combat sports, seeing how these athletes were so determined to prove themselves the best at their disciplines that they were willing to put their bodies to the test and to train themselves into powerful weapons! To Alena, there was no greater illustration of a human mind turned toward the pursuit of perfection - to craft one’s mind and body to take down and dominate others! She looked up to martial artists of all stripes, believing they came the closest of anyone to achieving the peak of human potential. But Alena didn’t just want to watch martial arts - she wanted to get involved herself!

Naturally, it caused quite a stir in her family when Alena announced that she would rather be a cage fighter than an oil executive. Her father tried to convince her it was “unladylike” and “too dangerous,” insisting that she was just going through a phase and that she’d grow out of it. But through her teen years, she continued to train and hone her skills whenever she could get the chance, spending more and more time at the gym and seeking out trainers. And once she was 18, she decided to leave home and enter an MMA promotion, signing on to one of the company’s most prestigious tournaments.

The daughter of an oil baron entering an MMA tournament naturally garnered its fair share of publicity. Commentators brushed it off as “freak show fighting,” insisting that it was only a publicity stunt to drum up controversy; some even thought it was a ploy by the Stepanov family to get their name in the media (something Alena’s father vehemently denied). Nevertheless, the promoters went ahead, seeing the controversy garnered by the tournament as good for business, under the maxim that there was no such thing as bad publicity. Sure enough, attention on the event was higher than ever after Alena’s inclusion was confirmed. She was put up against a more experienced fighter who was looking for a boost in her career, and everyone expected the round to give her a bye in the tournament. Many tuned in expecting to see a spoiled rich girl getting stomped into the mat, ready to laugh at her when she came back crying to her daddy later.

To everyone’s surprise, Alena’s training paid off remarkably. Not only did she hold her own, she dominated the match, knocking her opponent out in the second round in a stunning turn of events. The organizers attempted to pull the plug on the tournament, but the higher-ups refused - Alena’s dark horse victory was drawing even more press than anything they could have anticipated! The fight made headlines, and Alena was cemented as a rising star in the MMA world overnight. With every victory that followed, her fame kept growing and growing, and with it, interest in the tournament grew and grew - culminating in a much-publicized final round that saw her emerging victorious!

There was no doubt about it. If there were any naysayers left, her victory in the tournament was enough to silence them. Alena was officially a real fighter, and her career was set! People might have tuned in at first out of novelty, but her show of strength and willpower had endured many fans to her, and those fans were eager to follow her career from then on out. She carried on a proud career in the MMA world, experiencing a long winning streak that earned her the nickname of the Grand Duchess of the Octagon; even her losses didn’t seem to set her back for long. Soon, though, Alena would make another announcement that shook the world of mixed martial arts: she wanted to fight heavyweights.

As she explained it, fighting opponents within her own weight class had grown boring to her. She wanted to move on to bigger and bigger challenges - literally, as the case might have been! Her diminutive size didn’t seem to be the least bit of a bother; she wanted to show the world her faith in her abilities was well warranted, even if she was by all means outmatched. And she saw no better way to do that by calling out one of the biggest fighters in the league to a match!

Despite interest from plenty of fans, however, that was the moment that higher powers decided to step in. Alena might have had faith in herself, but the athletic commission didn’t, and the promotion was afraid of being held liable if she got herself seriously injured - or worse. But Alena had come too far in her life to let that stop her. She’d already laughed in the face of adversity many times over, and she saw no reason why this would be different. If MMA wouldn’t let her punch above her weight, she would just go somewhere that would - namely, professional wrestling! From there, the rest was history…
Personality: By all accounts, Alena doesn’t know the meaning of the word “fear.” She’s a daredevil and an adrenaline junkie, not in the sense of pulling off risky moves or death-defying stunts, but rather in putting herself up to matches where she has no apparent right to stand a chance in, just because she can. She’s all about seeking bigger and better challenges in order to get her name out there and prove that she has it in her to succeed - which often leads to her entourage needing to gently discourage her from doing something she'd regret. She takes great pride in her strength and in her successes, and isn’t afraid to boast about them, often talking big and hyping herself up in promotional appearances. Despite that, though, she isn’t in it for the sake of fame, money, or any ulterior motives - she just wants to prove that she has it in her, and she doesn’t make any claims as to be looking for something greater than that. Famously, she has been known to turn down hefty cash prizes for winning events, citing that she doesn’t need the money, and the fact that she proved her own potential was a reward in and of itself. To her, life is all about pushing her limits and taking on greater and greater challenges, and she sees ample opportunities to do that in LAW!

Trivia:
  • Due to her upbringing, Alena is a little sheltered and doesn’t pick up on innuendo very well. She has an Onlyfans, but uses it solely for blogging about her day-to-day life, with no lewd content whatsoever. She doesn’t know why people complain about this - ”Only my fans would be interested in that!”
  • Alena is very up-front about the fact that she doesn’t compete in order to make a statement, and she doesn’t have an agenda besides her own self-improvement. After the Russian media started publicizing one match where she forced a Ukrainian fighter to tap out as a symbol of Russian victory, she came out sternly criticizing the story and has since become friends with her opponent.
  • Alena doesn’t like to throw her wealth around often, preferring to live modestly. She sometimes tips more liberally than expected, though.
  • Despite all stereotypes, Alena can’t hold her liquor very well.
  • She is, however, very fond of pirozhkis, and upon discovering that the Japanese invented a variation using curry, she considers them culinary geniuses.
  • Taking inspiration from other big names in MMA like Georges St-Pierre or Julie Dykstra-Liao, Alena wanted to use her initials as a nickname. Her publicists wouldn’t let her.
  • She’s a touchy-feely person who doesn’t have a good sense of personal space, and it isn’t uncommon for her to show her appreciation of other peoples’ bodies or physiques in the locker room by trying to feel them up. This has started at least one fight.
  • She listens to a lot of Eurodisco music and is a big fan of Dschinghis Khan. However, she declined to use them for her theme music, on account of her not actually being from Moscow.

Fighting Style: Alena came to prominence in her MMA career as a grappler, drawing on Brazilian jiu-jitsu for many of her moves, and that's the style she intends to carry through into her wrestling career. In a match, she aims to use whatever opportunities she can get to tie up her opponents' limbs, often sticking close to them and chaining her way through holds in order to secure her grasp on her opponent and prevent them from breaking it. If she can maintain the advantage over her opponents, she uses this to keep them restrained, making it harder for them to fight back or escape and allowing her to transition into other moves. However, she also packs a punch when it comes to her strikes, and she often hopes to set her opponents up in favorable positions for her to wail on them with knees, kicks, and elbows. She's particularly honed these skills in order to stand a chance against larger opponents, keeping their limbs tied down and their motions under control to even the playing field between the two of them. She's more used to fighting in a cage, however, and isn't as prepared to adjust her style to a sport where she isn't allowed to keep her opponents on the ropes. If Alena has one glaring weakness, it would likely be a nigh-suicidal overconfidence - she has great faith in her skills, but this sometimes leads to her getting in trouble if she picks fights she can't contend with or fails to take the proper precautions.

Favored Match Types: Alena is willing to take on whatever matches she needs to in order to prove her potential to the world! She favors matches that test her strength and stamina, feeling that the greater challenge she puts herself up to, the better she'll be able to make her case if she succeeds. To that end, she's willing to handicap herself by challenging opponents to matches where she would have the logical disadvantage, such as handicap tag matches, matches against larger opponents, or hardcore matches - she doesn't believe in cheating or using weapons since she would rather her strength come from within, but she's willing to enter such a match if it means she's at a greater risk from her opponent. She isn't as interested in softcore matches, but she is pretty easy to lead along, and it's entirely possible she could be talked into one...
