WFPW CEO and Commissioner: Hank Strongbow Williams

Unread post by Pegasus »

Name: Hank Strongbow Williams

Age: 70

Height: 5’10

Weight: 275 lbs.

Hometown: Venice Beach, California, sometimes Houston, Texas

Background:

Hank started off having a rocky childhood with an abusive drunk father and getting bullied because he started growing up overweight. It got so bad at home that Hank used a cupboard under the stairs to hide away from the world. Throughout middle school, Hank was letting his grades slip and didn’t think his education really mattered, because he let everyone’s bullying convince him that he was worthless. Hank would never think he had a meaningful purpose in life and that was his thinking until he hit high school. The ongoing Vietnam War between the north and south sides of the country raged on which dragged the United States into the fold and Congress declared war which started the military draft. Turning 18, Hank would be drafted into war and taken to base in Alabama before being shipped overseas to help fight and ease tensions during the devastating conflict.

However, three months in would see Hank discharged after suffering a fatal shot in the leg and that took him out of action. Doctors removed the bullet and managed to prevent Hank from losing control of his wounded leg that would have mostly halted any thoughts on a future wrestling career. He gained popularity among his classmates when he returned for the senior year and graduated as valedictorian choosing to go to college at UCLA. Hank majored in sports medicine and a minor in history (a hobby he picked up after serving in the war) and even took up boxing as a side hobby in addition to his studies. He made friends after college that wanted to go into wrestling and he even met some current legends that was willing to train him for the ring.

Hank would be called into action once more during the early 90s for the Persian Gulf War this time working as a medical officer and away from the battlefield. Hank helped wounded soldiers treat their injuries and helped buried the dead that couldn’t be saved. Six months after the war ended, Hank returned to the States and greeted the friends he made, but learned their dreams as wrestlers were no more and they instead opened a bakery in Los Angeles. Hank took up a job there while training for wrestling and he officially would start his career in 1994, but suffered a broken leg in 2001 which halted his career. Hank decided to retire in 2002 and left up a decision to return to the ring up in the air while his leg healed up.

In 2007, Hank officially returned to wrestling at the age of 52 and wore face makeup to keep up with modern times since the golden age had ended. He stuck to the California indies and even went down to Florida and Mexico to compete for a little bit. In 2013, Hank suffered a heart attack and doctors treated him with the notion that it was probably time to call it quits. They said Hank pushing his body at his age could have dangerous side effects if he kept wrestling in the ring, but Hank was on the fence if this was the right decision. He heeded his doctor’s words and decided to retire from wrestling officially.

Hank took up a job as a referee for a local California promotion called Tribal State Wrestling in 2014 and even tried for a third run in wrestling once 2015 started deciding to get in better shape as he approached his 60s. Hank finished his career in Japan and after wrestling for two more years, Hank had his retirement match in 2017 ending things on a better note. Hank would go on to open his own promotions like X-Factor Championship Wrestling (which turned from a big promotion to a small indie company) and United Supreme Pro Wrestling (which he gave control over to Bethany Morgan in 2022 to focus on launching another company). Bethany wanted to sign with World Frontier Pro Wrestling so Hank hired her and bought out his previous two promotions to transform them into developmental branches for WFPW. Hank would even gain ownership of WOWW from Akira Koizumi and Carol Barlet sizing it down to be a female developmental brand.

Now, Hank visits the promotion that partners with WFPW among others and sees the talented men and women that may step forward into his own promotion if they choose to.

Personality: Hank has had a lot of mental troubles over the years due to his father’s abuse and the bullying, but he hardly ever gets angry with people—even if they try so hard to get under his skin. When it comes to his promotion, he likes to be open-minded and believe that certain talent can make it through hard work and dedication to their craft. Hank is seen as a father figure to most young wrestlers in today’s wrestling world and he’s often cited as an inspiration due to his service in war and wrestling. That being said, Hank still has his limits with disrespectful people and as a boss, he will fire under the justified reasons if necessary. He’s nice, but firm and blunt and he’s business and professional first when it comes to any cross-promotion or future signings.
