Considering the force with which Astrid's head crashed into the mat, it was surprising that her head didn't split apart. After Ostberg released her waist, the Golden Dragon, as expected, just collapsed on the mat. Her legs and arms were slightly spread out to the sides, and her lush breasts rose and fell heavily. The blonde's eyes were closed, and an expression of pure pain was frozen on her face. The collision of her back with the turnbuckles now seemed to be the least of her problems.

Feeling this terrible pain in her head, she recalled her countless sparring sessions with Charlotte and Nerissa, who were watching the match right now with some apprehensions about the position of the Norwegian woman. Her best friends always tried to concentrate their attacks on the Golden Dragon's head, because in fact it was the most vulnerable part of her body that her steel muscles could not protect. But even with all this training, you'll never be able to prepare for something as hard as a piledriver, especially from Astrid Ostberg, the former heavyweight champion.

Looking at the result of her attack, as well as inspired by the support of the audience, Ostberg decided that this was her chance to regain her champion status. It was impossible to blame her for this, because victory at such an early stage of the match was damn desirable for any contender. And so, without wasting time, the other Astrid leaned on the descendant of the great Vikings, using almost all of her weight for this.

"Gmmmm..." involuntarily, Astrid burst out through clenched teeth.

She was not in the habit of complaining about anything, but at that moment it seemed to her that it was not her rival who pressed her to the mat, but a whole damn cruiser. The pain in her head didn't stop her from feeling that Ostberg had hooked her far leg under the knee. This made it as clear as possible to her what would happen next. The referee did not take long to wait, after a second the striped shirt first lay down next to the women, and then loudly slapped the mat for the first time.

"ONE!"

The Golden Dragon intended to break the pin. She would rather die than let herself lose so easily. Having made a promise to fight to the last drop of sweat, she was determined to get to her feet every time until her body was literally no longer capable of it. Therefore, in a sense, this pin was a rest for her. Yes, just a few seconds, and yet maybe even that will be enough to ease the pain in her head. But...

As soon as the referee's hand went to the mat for the second time, the Golden Dragon's body tensed. Straightening her hooked leg, she simultaneously jerked to the left in order to raise her right shoulder above the mat and thereby break the pin. And although after that the descendant of the great Vikings remained lying on her left side, the striped shirt raised her hand above her head and, to the loud cheers of the audience, stuck out only one finger.

Perhaps this was not the best decision on the part of Astrid, who lost extra seconds of rest. However, despite the fact that Ostberg took the lead thanks to her strength and skills, the Golden Dragon just wanted to show that if she was destined to lose today, it definitely wouldn't be so easy. She never liked to talk a lot, and, moreover, she never liked to make promises. But she prided herself on the fact that she always keeps the promises she makes. Today she promised to give the contender the toughest match of her life. And she was still determined to keep that promise.

This could well be it. With Ostberg hitting the piledriver, and Arvidsson's body falling limp into the canvas, everyone could only watch the ring with jaws dropped and mouths agape. The match seemed like it had barely begun, but already the former Heavyweight Champion was making her bid for victory - and what was more, it looked like she just might pull it off! Arvidsson was slack and lifeless, and she barely even tried to move. Ostberg had climbed on top of her, grabbing her leg and wrenching it back into the pin, and now the count had started. The whole while, Astrid Ostberg stared down into her opponent's eyes. Her body was still and rigid, not allowing for even the slightest hint of slack to creep in; the only movement she made was the slow rise and fall of her shoulders as she breathed in and out. But inside, her heart was racing.

More was resting on this moment than ever before, Ostberg thought to herself. It wasn't just victory that was within her grasp. If this worked, she would have claimed victory over Astrid Arvidsson, the Golden Dragon - the World Openweight Champion. And she would walk away from this arena with that very same belt around her waist, only minutes after Arvidsson had been declared its inaugural champion. It was more than a win; it was a statement. If she had won against such an accomplished foe, so early in their match, and earned such an honor in the process, Ostberg would have silenced all her doubters the world over. No one could possibly claim that she had lost her touch. She wouldn't have only pulled herself back up to the heights she'd seen at her championship reign, but surpassed them! She needed this to work!

But it wouldn't be so. Just before the referee's hand could touch down a second time, Arvidsson found that strength she was looking for. Her shoulder lifted off the ground - the count stopped at one! At first, everyone in the stands looked down with a wordless gasp. No one could believe it. Was Astrid Arvidsson truly so powerful that she could kick out of a piledriver at one - let alone a piledriver from a former champion? But that shock and awe soon gave way to a roar of cheers and applause. It was a show of that strength in Arvidsson that had gotten her this far, and a reminder of all she was capable of! If she could pull off such a feat, then there was no question - she was every bit worthy of wearing the belt that had been given to her!

No matter how much the fans cheered, however, it was Ostberg who had been shaken most of all. She could only stare down at her opponent with wide eyes, her face pale and aghast. She couldn't believe that such a promising move could have failed. But she too reminded herself that Arvidsson was the Openweight Champion. She was an opponent like none other Ostberg had faced before. Now, she had proven she was a cut above. But if that was the case...it was up to Ostberg to step up her game accordingly. The challenge had gone a step beyond, and she would have to follow! She couldn't give up yet!

Clenching her teeth and sucking in a breath to steady herself, Ostberg's eyes narrowed into a determined glare. She clenched her fist tighter, firming up the muscles in her arm as her body constricted with pent-up energy. She brought one foot behind her and pushed up against the canvas, going to lift herself to her feet. And as she did, she jerked back hard at the chain around her wrist, attempting to haul Arvidsson up after her!

Re: Main Event: Astrid Arvidsson (c) vs Astrid Ostberg for the LAW World Openweight Championship

The statement made by the Golden Dragon was met with an ovation from the audience. This confirmed without a doubt that there was no clear favorite in the ring today. Just as a second ago they welcomed Ostberg's attempt to win the match, so now they were glad that the first openweight champion remained in the game. In a way, it was even funny, because name "Astrid" sounded louder than ever today thanks to the truly unique circumstances under which these two women met in the fight.

But although the support of the audience warmed the soul of the Norwegian woman, the most difficult thing was still ahead. Yes, she broke the pin, letting know not only the audience, but first of all her opponent, that she was not going to lose so easily. However, now she needed to find the strength to overcome the pain in her head. After what she did, the audience may have forgotten that the consequences of such a tough attack as a piledriver do not pass so quickly.

"Grrrr..." she growled in pain, getting up.

By the time the Golden Dragon rose to one knee, her opponent was already on her feet. Astrid raised her head and looked into Ostberg's eyes. In her opponent's eyes she saw something that usually took much longer for any of the rivals that the Golden Dragon had met before. In Ostberg's eyes, she saw that the former champion had fully realized who Astrid was and what she was made of. But there was something else. And this is something the descendant of the great Vikings liked even more.

She saw unshakable confidence in Ostberg's eyes. Even though it was now clear to her what she would have to go through in order to finish Astrid's reign today, she still looked into the Golden Dragon's eyes without a shadow of fear and doubt. The blonde knew that look because it was her look. That's how she looked at any of her matches. She knew that no one could win absolutely every match. But every time a new obstacle appeared in front of her, she looked at it the same way Ostberg was looking at her now.

Ostberg's eyes seemed to have become a match that ignited fuel in the Golden Dragon's chest. Seeing that her opponent was not going to lose to her, Astrid felt thirsty. The purpose of her existence was to look for the most difficult challenges. And now, more than anything, she wanted to know if she could defeat the woman who stood in her way like a stone wall. This feeling was more pleasant than any drug. This feeling even eclipsed the pain in her head. The blonde literally felt like flames and adrenaline began to flow through her veins.

At the same moment when the former champion strained her arm to pull the chain, the descendant of the great Vikings pushed off the mat with such force that it was surprising that there were no cracks left. She wanted to rush forward in order to loosen the tension of the chain, because in that case her opponent would not be able to pull her forward and thereby upset her balance.

With flames bursting out of her, the Golden Dragon intended to straighten up to her full height while simultaneously throwing her left hand straight at Ostberg's chin. If she managed to hit the other Astrid with this quick left jab, it would be a good start, but even if her opponent threw both hands up for protection, she was not going to complain because almost at the same time with the left hand, the champion intended to throw forward her right hand too, this time with a much heavier right cross, aimed at Ostberg's solar plexus. Thus, she wanted not only to knock the air out of her opponent, but also to make her lean forward. Not because she was hampered by the difference in height, but because in that case nothing would prevent her from unhindered sending another left jab to Ostberg's chin to cause bells to ring in her head. Those who had seen it before knew exactly how it was going to end. And they were right because if the flame of the Golden Dragon had helped her get to this point of her combo, then the last thing she had to do was throw up her right leg in order to ram the contender's face with a knee strike. It was a piece of her past. It was her strongest sequence of strikes that she used in her MMA days. It was her dragon's claws! And she intended to use it not only to bring down a ton of damage on her rival, but also to literally drive her into the corner behind her!

It wasn't just for the fact that the two competitors had the same name that the arena echoed as loudly as it did with chants of "ASTRID! ASTRID!". Both champion and challenger had no shortage of loyal fans, and both of them had well earned the support of those fans tonight. The match had brought their best efforts out of them, and both of them were fired up with a burning, unquenchable desire for nothing less than victory - so passionate were they in pursuing their goal that they were willing to go to the utmost limits of what they were capable of to try and achieve dominance. Ostberg had shown that fire in her with how powerfully she had taken Arvidsson down head-first with a hard-hitting piledriver, and the forceful impact of Arvidsson's skull against the mat had left more than a few fans gasping with the thought of how hard it had to have hit. But Arvidsson had shown plenty of strength herself, and plenty that would prove herself worthy of cheers, when she managed to kick out of the pin, shrugging off the impact of one of the hardest-hitting moves in all of professional wrestling in the name of keeping herself in the fray!

In fact, even now, Arvidsson was throwing herself back into the action faster than her opponent could keep track of! Ostberg didn't even need to pull on the chain in order to lift her back to her feet - the champion had already sprung back up, and her foe hardly even had any time to look up with a gasp before Arvidsson closed the distance guns blazing. Her fist shot for Ostberg's jaw, causing her to cry out in pain as her head snapped to the side with a crack - and while she was reeling from the speed and intensity of such a strike, Arvidsson was able to connect a shot to her midsection, knocking the air out of her lungs! Coughing and wheezing, Ostberg doubled over forward, draped over her opponent's fist. Her head was spinning, and she took in a few heaving breaths to try and collect herself. She grit her teeth, a trickle of sweat born from both the tension of the match and the surge of her nerves running along the side of her brow. Ostberg knew she had to get back up, and to keep going - with all the ferocity Arvidsson had to show her, to go slack, to let down her guard for even a moment, would mean certain death. But when her whole world was spinning and her whole body was sore, she couldn't. She couldn't stop Arvidsson from delivering another jab to her jaw, one that caused her to cry out in pain as she reeled back in an arc and grabbed at her chin. Nor could she stop what followed - as her head drew back, Astrid put herself right into the path of a knee strike from Arvidsson, aimed right for her face!

A loud crack echoed through the arena, causing no small amount of the fans to wince at the thought of just how hard Ostberg had to have been hit. And it was followed closely by another, as Ostberg was flung backward, her back hitting the turnbuckles with the sound of a thud. Groaning groggily, she began to sink lower, her body slowly slipping further down the post until her footing gave out and she sat there crumpled in a seated position on the canvas. Arvidsson was definitely putting her MMA skills on full display, combining her power manuevers with a series of swift, well-placed strikes that had rattled her opponent. It was a perfect demonstration of the abilities that had made her Openweight Champion.

But...Ostberg knew she couldn't stay on the back foot. She needed to be better than this; she knew she was better than this! And when she looked back up at her foe, her teeth clenched in a grimace and her eyes narrowed in a glare as she snorted under her breath. No matter how much she ached, or how much her head had gone numb, Ostberg couldn't accept defeat. She couldn't let Arvidsson get the better of her now! She needed some way to fight back!

Arvidsson had Ostberg in the corner, yes. That could well have left her open to any subsequent strikes. But, thanks to the chain, it also meant that Arvidsson and Ostberg hadn't gone far from one another - which meant that Arvidsson was within range. And because of that, Ostberg had a plan. Sucking in a breath to summon her strength, she reached up to grab hold of the chain that still bound her to her opponent - and gave it a sharp yank downward, trying to pull Arvidsson off her feet so that she'd fall face-first into the corner post!

Each successful strike of Astrid was accompanied by a loud exclamation from the audience. She's used this combination only twice. The blonde still remembers her matches against Karen and Katherine well to this day. Not every rival was able to awaken the flame of the Golden Dragon, but Ostberg certainly joined the list of such outstanding women. Therefore, at the moment when the descendant of the great Vikings rushed to her rival, she seemed unstoppable.

Catching the other Astrid by surprise, the Golden Dragon sent a heavy fist straight into her opponent's jaw. This opened her way and because of this, her lavender eyes seemed to turn red for a short moment. Putting even more force, she hit Ostberg in the solar plexus, literally squeezing the air out of her. The contender backed away in a futile attempt to normalize her breathing, but Astrid was not going to let her go.

After another punch in the jaw, the former champion began to fall, but even this was not enough for the Golden Dragon. Throwing her right leg up, she hit Ostberg in the jaw with her knee. Crashing into the turnbuckles, the contender could not stay on her feet, Ostberg sank on her butt, while the champion stood over her. And despite the heavy breathing, a smile shone on her face because at that moment she was surrounded by the screams of the audience, who clearly welcomed the fact that she had so actively returned to the game after one of the most destructive moves in the pro wrestling world.

Encouraged by the success of her combination, Astrid took a step forward. It was a success, of course, but she wanted to turn this success into a springboard for something more. Revenge had nothing to do with it, but she was firmly convinced that after the piledriver from Ostberg, she also deserved the opportunity to demonstrate something really heavy.

But as soon as she took a step towards the other Astrid, the contender raised her head, looking at the champion with cold fury. And before the Golden Dragon could widen her eyes in surprise, Ostberg grabbed the chain and pulled it down with impressive force. Needless to say, the descendant of the great Vikings was not ready for this.

She had no reason to be ready for this. Three. Three heavy strikes to the head. Not to mention the fourth strike to the solar plexus. There was no self-confidence or anything like that. She knew herself and the power of her strikes. Therefore, she was sure that after that her opponent would need at least a little time both to calm her pain in the head and to even out her breathing. However, it was useless to argue with the facts. Ostberg again deprived her of the opportunity for a really heavy move.

"GGAAH!!"

Stumbling, the Golden Dragon literally flew face first into the middle turnbuckle. The semi-soft pad didn't help her in any way. In one second, she felt a burning pain on her face and saw white stars in front of her eyes. Once on her knees, she involuntarily grabbed the middle rope with her left hand, and covered her face with her right hand. Considering the pain she was experiencing at that moment, it was surprising that blood did not start flowing from her nose. However, considering her second unsuccessful attempt to make a heavy move, it was only a matter of time because unlike her opponent, she could not ignore the pain and dizziness with the same ease.

Re: Main Event: Astrid Arvidsson (c) vs Astrid Ostberg for the LAW World Openweight Championship

Unread post by CaptainL »

Arvidsson might have been a natural powerhouse, exemplifying the sort of strength and endurance that characterized the biggest names in LAW's Heavyweight Division, but that was far from the limit of what she was capable of - as Ostberg was quickly learning the hard way. When the champion was worked up into a frenzy, she had charged straight into the fray, and her fists and knees were flying so fast Ostberg could barely prepare for them, let alone defend herself against them. Every time she saw one attack incoming and moved to block it, it was already too late; Arvidsson had already lashed out with another, and she was gearing up for the next one. With each step in the sequence, the fans could only watch from the edges of their seats, their eyes fixed on the action. Those who knew Astrid Arvidsson knew exactly what she was building up to, and every blow she landed on her opponent seemed like one step closer to the climactic finish. The question was how Ostberg was going to take it. The former Heavyweight Champion was known for her incredible endurance, but everyone knew, too, how hard Arvidsson could hit!

At last, as Arvidsson completed the Dragons' Claws, Osberg dropped straight down - her footing giving out from under her and her balance following suit soon after as she dropped straight down to land in the corner with a thud. There, she lay panting for breath, her chest heaving and her brow dripping with sweat. Bruises had already begun to spread across her skin, and everywhere Arvidsson's blows had landed, Ostberg could feel the cold, numb reminder of how her nerves had been deadened, her teeth clenching in a pained grimace. Once again, the whole arena watched her closely, just to see if she'd get up - if she even could. No one wanted to say a word, lest they shatter the silence and the almost palpable tension that had taken hold of the room. The thought that Ostberg might have it in her to get up seemed almost impossible...but when she lifted her head to settle a deathly glare onto her opponent, Ostberg was out to make a statement in defiance of the odds. Sure enough, she wasn't out of this yet!

Ostberg knew she wouldn't have the strength in her to get back on her feet just yet. She didn't know when she would, and that gave Arvidsson too much time to pres her advantage. But she wouldn't need to - as long as she had the chain, she had all the leverage she could ask for. The fact that she was relying on external aid to get an edge over her opponent might, ordinarily, have been something Ostberg couldn't bear to abide by. It meant she wasn't relying on her own strength and ability; that she was willing to use a crutch. But this time, Astrid Ostberg had no other choice. Every moment had to be one where she was striving to overcome her opponent and to take back her own good name - or else she stood no chance. If this was what Ostberg needed to do in order to fight back...then she'd do it!

Yanking back hard at the chain with both hands, Ostberg dragged her opponent's center of balance right out from under her - and the only place Arvidsson could go was straight forward! She fell against the turnbuckle with a loud thud, and she quickly fell into a daze, her head spinning and her vision blurred. More than a few groans could be heard at Arvidsson's predicament. She needed to hold herself against the ropes in order to maintain her balance. But this meant Ostberg had her chance to take the advantage now - and she wouldn't pass it up!

She was still aching all over. Her head was still throbbing, and she had to rise slowly and torturously, getting one foot on the ground, then the other, and only then pushing herself back up, with no small amount of heaving and panting at each moment. But, in the end, Ostberg was able to rise. She teetered to and fro, but when she looked down at her opponent, she knew what she would need to do. She sucked in a deep breath, her muscles firming up in anticipation. She had to turn it all around!

Ostberg circled behind Arviddson, getting into position. There, she kneeled down, bending at the knees to get to her opponent's level. Her arms reached out to grab onto Arvidsson's, and she would try and wrench those arms outward as far as the chain would allow - putting the champion in a full Nelson hold!

Re: Main Event: Astrid Arvidsson (c) vs Astrid Ostberg for the LAW World Openweight Championship

It was the very condition that Astrid hated without exaggeration. Because of the dizziness, her thoughts turned into a strange, incoherent string. Her instincts were literally screaming at her that she had to pull herself together and get to her feet before her opponent did it. However, the sudden collision of her face with the turnbuckle was too hard. No matter how much she wanted it, her vestibular apparatus refused to give her control over her body. Even though she was still full of strength, at that moment, the Golden Dragon felt helpless.

"Shit..." she thought, disappointed.

Suddenly she heard the clank of the chain, which clearly indicated that the other Astrid had already risen to her feet. Funny. Of course, it was just an illusion created by dizziness. In reality, only a few seconds had passed since her face collided with the turnbuckle, but for her, those few seconds lasted like a few minutes. Gritting her teeth, the Golden Dragon began to struggle with her own weakened state.

However, by the time she released the middle rope, her opponent was already behind her. Ostberg's powerful arms wrapped around the descendant of the great Vikings' arms, which made her straighten up. And although she tried to tighten her muscles, this did not stop the contender, who joined her palms on the back of Astrid's head, thereby closing the Golden Dragon in the submission hold.

"Uuuggghhhh..." she groaned through her teeth in a strangled voice.

In another situation, this would not have been the most disgusting submission hold in which she could find herself. It would be fair to say that keeping a woman like Astrid in place is far from the easiest task. However, her opponent was a former heavyweight champion who possessed no less impressive power than the Golden Dragon herself. Add to this the fact that the Norwegian woman still felt dizzy, and as a result, even such a simple submission hold would turn into torture.

The muscles of her arms stretched painfully even despite her attempts to neutralize the pressure of Ostberg. Unable to restrain herself, she continued to groan. Her arms were her main weapon and now the Golden Dragon was fully aware that if she did nothing, the contender had every chance to stretch her muscles so much that she would get injured. And if she loses the ability to use her arms on one hundred percent, then she will become a bird without wings.

"Uuurrrrrrr... FUCKRRRRR!"

Astrid bit her lower lip with such force that blood appeared in the place where the canine tooth bit into the flesh, and a moment later a thin trickle of scarlet liquid flowed down her chin. She did it for two reasons. In order to shut up and thereby stop groaning. And also in order to concentrate the pain in one place and thereby distract from the pain in her arms.

This allowed her to put more strength into her arms, thereby resisting Ostberg's grip, but the Golden Dragon understood that she had no chance of freeing herself on her knees. Therefore, she intended to rise. Her body began to tremble, which showed how difficult it was for her to resist the challenger. Even so, she intended to move her right leg forward and then get up on one knee.

She could only hope that her strength would be enough to do it. But if she really succeeded, then she would have used perhaps the simplest, but at the same time quite a tough attempt to free herself. The Golden Dragon intended to lean forward abruptly, even if it meant experiencing truly savage pain in the muscles and joints of her arms. A true champion must be prepared for pain. Besides, this pain would have given her more strength in form of the rage, because right after that she intended to lean back in an attempt to hit the contender in the face with the back of her head!

That thud, that ripple of the ring canvas beneath her feet from the aftershocks of the impact - that had left Arvidsson stunned, and that was all Ostberg needed to put her plans into action. Now that the champion was vulnerable, it was time for her to move in for the kill. And with that, she had no hesitations - not when her chance at a comeback was right there in front of her! If she could take down Astrid Arvidsson - not just any opponent, but the reigning World Openweight Champion herself - it would prove she was still a capable force to be reckoned with. No one would dare to doubt her again. Her heart was beating faster and harder in her chest just thinking about it - when Astrid Ostberg looked at her opponent, she saw her chance to prove to the world she was no one worth underestimating!

Her breaths had slowed as she tried to move enough air into her lungs to carry herself foward, but when Ostberg saw the road ahead of her was clear, and she had Arvidsson wide open, she knew exactly what she needed to do. She lunged forward with a few strides, driven onward by the fires of determination burning within her with all the will to reach out and make a change. With strength she didn't know she had, she grabbed Arvidsson by the arms. And when she wrenched those arms out as far as she could, stretching her back and her shoulders, Ostberg let out a shout that was driven as much by the exertion she was willing to put her body through as it was from the excitement she felt at making such strides! It hurt, it ached, it burned even - but she was dominating Arvidsson!

Arvidsson was using every fiber of her being to resist - the cameras caught that trickle of blood running from her lip to give proof as much - but so too was Ostberg drawing on everything she had in her to prevent her opponent from getting away. Her muscles bulged as they pulled into place, her arms locking around Arvidsson's like a cage. She cranked back harder at her foe's joints, as though she were trying to snap her like a wishbone, and she growled and gnashed her teeth no matter how much Arvidsson tried to fight back. She had Arvidsson so far. She couldn't give in now! Even as the champion forced herself up to her feet, Ostberg wouldn't dare to slow down - she wouldn't concede the advantage she'd already fought so hard for. She would only dig her heels into the mat, her knuckles going white as she pulled Arvidsson even more tightly against her chest, and she leaned back further to draw on some extra force. It didn't matter if Arvidsson was standing or kneeling - it wouldn't change the force Ostberg had readied for her!

That was, until Arvidsson threw her head backward - and struck square in the middle of Ostberg's face with the back of her skull!

A hollow thud rang out as Ostberg's head cracked backward from the impact, soon followed by a pained yelp. She had done all she could to maintain her focus, but suddenly it was like a searing sensation had shot straight through to her brain. That alone was enough to make her shudder, but in that moment her concentration broke - she had been rattled to the core. Suddenly the whole world felt blurred and wavering, and Ostberg could hardly even keep her eyes on one thing mere inches away from her. At last, she had no choice but to release Arvidsson, stumbling a few steps back before she lifted a hand to her head to try and rub the sore sensation out of her temples. Still, she shook herself to her senses, looking up to watch Arvidsson from a short distance away as she continued to strafe cautiously around her. She knew better than to let the champion out of her sights. Now, as she clenched and unclenched her fists and took slow and measured breaths, all she could do was to make sure she was ready for what was yet to come.

Among the women with whom Astrid had fought since the beginning of her new career, only a few could not boast of truly outstanding physical strength. Kyoko and Miranda were betting on their other physical qualities. But everyone else was undoubtedly capable of making a truly wild competition for the Golden Dragon. Alison, Karen, Aurora, Katherine, Diana, Kanata - they all made it clear to her that she was far from the only one who had done a good job on her muscles. In each match, Astrid had a reason to be surprised at how many outstanding women she was lucky to fight.

Ostberg was no exception. It was absolutely fair to say that the former champion topped the list of those whom the Golden Dragon sincerely admired. The last time the descendant of the great Vikings experienced so much pain due to a submission hold during the match with Katherine. But if Katherine used an impressive variety of submission holds, equally concentrating on strength and technique, then Ostberg in a sense did not need technique. Her pure physical strength was more than enough to inflict real torture on the Golden Dragon.

Because of the pain in her arms, every second seemed like a minute for the champion. And although she never doubted her own strength, this time she wasn't ready to say with certainty that she would be able to overcome Ostberg's pure physical strength if she had to try to do it. However, even if someone didn't agree with it, in this match she wasn't obligated to compete only in physical strength. Yes, she wasn't going to do anything beneath her dignity, but in order to defend her title, she was ready for almost anything.

Therefore, her conscience was absolutely clear at the moment when she abruptly leaned back and the back of her head crashed into the face of the other Astrid. It was a very strange moment. For a few seconds, Ostberg's grip remained firm, as if she hadn't felt anything at all. But at the moment when the Golden Dragon should have started to worry, she felt relieved. The grip on her arms disappeared as Ostberg backed away.

The arms of the descendant of the great Vikings fell down as if they were two rags. Agony was still reflected on her face. Even though she had broken the submission hold, there was still pain in her muscles and joints. Her mind literally demanded rest after the strain her body had gone through. However, it wasn't that simple. The Golden Dragon realized that she was faced with a choice.

Considering the painful cry she heard from Ostberg, she really could afford at least a few seconds of rest. Yes, it would give her rival a chance to rest, too. But at least in this case, they will both start the so-called new round in equal positions. Since her arms at that moment were like cotton wool, this was probably the most rational option. But...

Astrid took a sharp, deep breath, filling her lungs with oxygen. No breaks. Because of her fiery temperament, many believed that the Golden Dragon relied only on her might and nothing else. She wasn't even going to be offended by it. At least for the reason that such an opinion played into her hands, because the truth was that the blonde was able to study even during the match. She learned a lesson from every second after the bell rang. And it was thanks to Ostberg that she made the main conclusion. If she wanted to defeat this woman, then she must continue the offensive no matter what. Therefore, the champion turned to face her opponent, grabbing the metal chain with both hands, and then...

"GET OVER HERE!!!" She roared.

When she strained her arms, it seemed to her that her muscles were pierced by a hundred knives. Ostberg certainly did a very good job with her submission hold. But if pain was the price the Golden Dragon had to pay, she would do it with a smile on her face and fire in her heart. And so she intended to dig her heels into the mat, pulling on the chain with all the force she was capable of at that moment.

She hoped that this would be enough to catch the contender off guard and thereby both upset her balance and pull her closer. If she had really succeeded, she would have tried to act quickly. Having deduced from her two previous failures, this time she wasn't going to waste time trying to stun Ostberg even more. Instead, Astrid intended to lean forward while simultaneously throwing her left hand at her opponent's head and her right hand at her opponent's leg.

She wanted to press her shoulders against the front of the other Astrid while grabbing her head and leg at the same time. With one sharp movement, the champion intended to straighten up to her full height and thereby throw Ostberg on her shoulders in a fireman's carry position. They say that the third attempt is a lucky one. Well, maybe it's time to check it out. Because if she managed to lift the contender on her shoulders, then immediately after that she would start falling to the side in order to drive the other Astrid right into the turnbuckles with the help of a fast and hard death valley driver!

Re: Main Event: Astrid Arvidsson (c) vs Astrid Ostberg for the LAW World Openweight Championship

Even after Ostberg had let go of her opponent, her skull still throbbed from the force of the headbutt. Her hands went to cup her face, trying to massage out the aches and pains, and she dug her heels into the mat to try and steady herself as the ring and the arena seemed to spin and teeter unsteadily around her. Both she and Arvidsson had gone into this match expecting a challenge, but both of them had quickly found themselves evenly matched when their opponents proved to easily be able to keep up with everything they threw at one another. Both of them had been forced to go outside of their comfort zones and make use of tactics they would have never dreamed of utilizing before, just to keep the competitive edge they needed to succeed. For Ostberg, that came in the form of using the chain to her advantage. And for Arvidsson...it was in her willingness to fight dirty.

But Arvidsson was willing to learn from her opponent - and that was something Ostberg was about to learn the hard way! The former champion had shown the tactical applications of the chain that bound her to her opponent numerous times in this match, and now, Arvidsson had begun to take note. She would make everyone quite aware of that, as she pulled back on the chain to reel Ostberg closer - and into her grasp!

The former champion howled in pain, throwing her head back in an arc as she felt the cold steel of the chain dig into her arm. Her teeth locked in a grimace as she was drawn into range. Realizing what was about to happen to her, she looked back up at Arvidsson, trying to shove at her shoulders to try and hold the Openweight Champion back. But it was too late - Arvidsson already had won a determined grip on her opponent, and it was a grip she used to hoist Ostberg up onto her shoulders. Suddenly, Ostberg found herself high above the mat, teetering precariously; her muscles went tense with anxious anticipation as she realized that it was by Arvidsson's will alone that she was kept from falling. And indeed, just then, she would feel Arvidsson begin to tip backward little by little - setting her up for the Death Valley Driver!

At once, a jolt ran through Ostberg's system, and she drew in a gasp. She knew that she would have to act soon. It had been a small miracle that Arvidsson had been able to get up from even a regular piledriver; now, she was about to take an even harder fall. She couldn't count on even her commendable endurance to allow her to get out of this safely. She needed to do something - and that something would have to rely on the first thing she had on hand. It might not have been abiding by her principles...but Ostberg couldn't allow herself to lose this!

Gritting her teeth, the Norsewoman swung out with the arm attached to the chain, attempting to sling that chain around Arvidsson's throat! Her brow furrowed in focus as she yanked back on the chain as hard as she could, trying to draw it tightly around her opponent's throat! If it was between this and certain defeat, she only had one answer!
