While Wyvern doesn't visibly respond to Alizeh's jest as to her academic proclivities, she's quick to shoot back a quip of her own. There's no venom behind the taunt, though. Otherwise, she listens dutifully to Alizeh's continuing explanation. As the older wrestler makes the comparison to load-bearing structures, Wyvern mentally goes through a list of holds she's familiar with, trying to identify which part could be disrupted to fully end the lock. When Alizeh finishes, she folds her arms and shifts her gaze to the side, staring into the mirror with a blank expression as she focuses entirely on her mental simulations. After a few seconds, though, she returns her focus to Alizeh.

"Understood. So then, for an Octopus Hold, it would be the leg over the back of the opponent's neck. If that loses its grip, you can't hold yourself in place, and that removes your ability to apply pressure on the arm."

It's phrased as a statement, but Wyvern tilts her head to the side as she finishes her statement, desiring confirmation from Alizeh that she has correctly grasped the concept.

Initially Alizeh was a bit surprised by the sudden quip from Wyvern at her comment. Blinking at first though quickly grinning, liking that little birst of humor from Wyvern, even if it was insulting by nature, but still Alizeh took it in stride and let it go unsaid as she continued with her explanation as Wyvern took it all in and nodded along before going... still. Having finished her explanation Alizeh would watch Wyvern contemplate, knowing she understood what she had said without the woman having to say anything about it, Alizeh just knew. That being said however it wouldn't be long before the woman turned and spoke, immediately laying a scenario that fit Alizeh's explanation to a T.

Something that made Alizeh smile eagerly as she nodded. "Yep exactly! Every hold worth its salt has a fundamental flaw like that you can exploit to break it. Just as you mentioned, the more complex and advanced it is, the harder it is to either identify the flaw or exploit it, at least, in time to break it before you submit. But toughness is usually the deciding factor there, and that's something you have in spades." Alzieh said, offering an additional compliment to Wyvern in the process as she waited to see how Wyvern responded, but luckily it seemed she was catching on pretty quick, not that Alizeh had any doubts.

Wyvern just nods in response to Alizeh's assessment. She was confident in the accuracy of her statement, but arrogance was a fatal flaw. It was better to make sure that she understood rather than risk being wrong over pride.

"Endurance isn't a concern as far as I'm concerned. If a hold relies on pain to force a submission, it's just a waste of everyone's time. Unless they get off on that. My issue is when people are willing to break bones or able to lock in a choke. Referees will usually call normal matches for the former and there's no way of training my brain to function without oxygen."

As blunt as ever, Wyvern doesn't bother to waste time on false modesty. Her ability to tolerate pain is practically superhuman, rendering holds that use it to coerce surrender far less effective on her than most. This resistance could be a double-edged sword, however. An opponent who knew how she operated would know not to bother trying to get a conventional tapout, and an ultimatum to forfeit or lose a limb didn't offer her any chance to use her endurance to escape.

"I understand the theory. How are we going to put it into practice?"

After confirming Wyvern's interpretation of Alizeh's words the woman nodded to finish processing them. Alizeh already knew that Wyvern was a good fighter as is, so her understanding stuff like this was no shock for her, hell if anything Alizeh was just pleasantly surprised Wyvern didn't find any of it insulting in anyway. Alizeh wouldn't complain though since it made her job explaining everything just a bit easier.

However the most important part about this all was practice. Understanding the concept behind it all was well and good, but experience doing it was what would end up mattering a lot more. Something Wyvern picked up on and asked about making Alizeh chuckle as she stepped closer towards Wyvern.

"Well, only one way to practice really.." Alizeh said before smirking at Wyvern. "Namely I put you in a few holds and it's your job to find a way out. If you can't escape from a hold I drop it and we figure out what the escape is. And of course I won't pull any of them full force, just tight enough to feel it." Alizeh explained figuring Wyvern would have no problem getting physical

Well, this wasn't exactly a surprise. Wyvern had already known what Alizeh was going to say before the words left the American's mouth; she had more intended to get the training moved on to the practical phase than truly been curious. The review and theory had certainly been helpful, in its own way, but Wyvern has always learned best by doing. You can only do so much with an explanation, especially when it came to truly physical subjects like this one. As Alizeh confirms what she had already expected, Wyvern stretches her arms out to warm up for the main event.

"It'll be more useful if they're in at full force. If I can't deal with them like that in practice, I definitely won't be able to handle them in a real match."

A characteristic, if not necessarily wise, response. Regardless of how Alizeh answers, Wyvern stretches her arms out to either side, giving full access to her body to the taller wrestler.

"All right. What hold are we starting with?"

Hearing Wyvern request full force submissions as opposed to lightly applied ones was.. not shocking at all for Alizeh who only chuckled. "Heh if you say so, but don't let me catch you complaining about being sore later." Alizeh said in a jokingly warning tone as approached Wyvern and grabbed her shoulders, making her bend to the side slightly. "We'll start with an oldie but a goodie." Alizeh said as she then draped one leg over Wyvern's, hooking her foot over the woman's calf while wrapping an arm over Wyvern's, pressing her palm against Wyvern's face to lock in a abdominal stretch in all its glory! "Plus since you want this as realistic as it gets..." Alizeh said, placing her hand over Wyvern's stomach before making a claw shape to drive her fingers into Wyvern's flesh for a added iron claw to the stomach!

"Neither of us are delusional, washed-up actresses, so I don't foresee any issues."

After her snide comment, Wyvern is completely silent as the two begin the physical portion of the training. Alizeh has no trouble securing her hold around the uncharacteristically pliant Wyvern, who tenses slightly when the greenette grabs her shoulders but is otherwise fully cooperative with the more experienced wrestler's movements. She says nothing as Alizeh completes the hold with a grip on her abdomen, although the greenette can feel her reflexively shy away a bit as her fingers first dig into Wyvern's stomach. Unsurprisingly, while Wyvern doesn't have the sculpted musculature of many of LAW's wrestlers, underneath a thin layer of fat Alizeh can feel steely, developed abs. Once the stretch is complete, Wyvern spends a few seconds wriggling unhurriedly in the grip, testing where and how she's being secured. The only real attempt she makes to escape any part of the hold is to twist her head away from Alizeh's palm to remove the obstruction to her mouth before speaking.

"This is unpleasant." Wyvern, as usual, is quite emotive. "This hold seems flawed. The claw might give you a bit of extra control, but it mostly adds discomfort. If you aren't careful or strong enough, I could collapse the entire thing by becoming dead weight. My legs are still planted, I might be able to do something with the one you aren't wrapped around...one arm free, position limited. I could drive my fingers into the soft flesh of your inner thigh or calf depending on exact positioning. Am I missing anything?"

Alizeh chuckled, hell near broke out into near full blown laughter at what Wyvern said regarding Mindy. "Hehe fair enough." Alizeh said with a chuckle before applying the move on Wyvern and sure enough as she promised, short of a few signs of discomfort Wyvern was dealing with the hold like a champ and was already going about breaking it down to figure out the best way to get free from it. For the most part her explanation was correct but she was still missing something.

"More or less on the money. But there's a particular way you can use all of those to your advantage to not just get free, but also get an advantage." Alizeh said, challenging Wyvern to not just get free, but to do so in the most optimized way possible. Particularly by seizing the grip on Alizeh's shoulder, going dead weight for only a second to break her leg free only to pull up and shift her legs to throw Alizeh. It was a bit complicated, but exceedingly useful for escaping from the hold when it was applied.

A more optimized way...

There's something she's missing. At Alizeh's challenge, the Irishwoman once again begins moving in the hold, testing the limits. She wouldn't have this kind of time in a real match. The reminder that her current insufficiencies required such triggers a brief rush of shame and irritation, but the whole purpose here was to overcome them. And, by having this chance to just experiment, she would be enabled to build up her instincts and get to a point where she wouldn't need the extra time to suss out the weaknesses of a hold. Or prevent one from being secured in the first place.

Ok. Focus.

A few more moments pass as she goes over her various tools. And, to Wyvern's credit, she almost figures out Alizeh's challenge.

"Ok, brace yourself."

The uncharacteristically courteous warning delivered, she bursts into motion. She does indeed clamp a vice grip onto Alizeh's shoulder, but doesn't go limp to escape the hold on her leg. Instead, she relies purely on brute strength, straightening it in a gambit to lift Alizeh entirely off the ground. More surprisingly, it works for a moment; how Wyvern is able to pack that much power into her slender frame is a mystery for the ages. When she tries to throw Alizeh off, things go awry. Without having released both legs, Wyvern is still partially locked against the Emerald Storm even after securing partial control, and with only one leg she can't stabilize herself enough to remain upright. As a result, rather than breaking the hold and separating from her opponent, Wyvern instead sends both crashing to the ground in an awkard tangle of limbs.

Alizeh smirked slightly as she heard Wyvern give her a little heads up as she prepared herself for whatever the dark haired beauty would do. Nodding to herself as she felt Wyvern reach up to grab her shoulder. Unfortunately however this wasn't followed up the way Wyvern should have. Failing to free her legs from Alizeh's own Alizeh would gasp as she felt herself pulled up and over, right down into the mat, but not in the way she should have. Wyvern's legs entangled with Alizeh's own caused the two to crash over each other, landing in a tangle of limbs with a light groan. "Well.. you were half right." Alizeh groaned out, gently trying to slide her legs from Wyvern's before attempting to roll back from Wyvern before sitting up. "Something you're gonna have to get used too is not immediately going to brute force. Sometimes going dead weight is the better call sometimes... specifically just then hehe." Alizeh said with a chuckle at the end before trying to sit up and hold her hand towards Wyvern to help her stand up... at least if she wasn't already on her feet by the time Alizeh was.
