The audience was cheering as Kyo made his way into the ring, striding down the ramp as his entrance theme blared. Kyo gave them no acknowledgement other than an appreciative nod, keeping his eyes focused on the ring ahead. He knew their applause was merely polite, that their cheering was in expectation of another match rather than for him specifically. He was still too new in LAW to have a real fanbase: maybe one day that would change, but for now he would have to work for the fans' love. That would take effort and time...and even then, if he was honest, he didn't wrestle for the fans. He wrestled because it was what he enjoyed, what he excelled at.
Sliding under the ropes, Kyo stood up to his full height and did a few rotating stretches, waiting for his opponent. He had seen only a brief glimpse of his fight card and the name of his opponent-- Jamila? Johnathan? He couldn't remember it off hand. Whoever his opponent was, though, he wouldn't have to wait long for their arrival, he was sure...
JJ was ready for this match and flying high as she had built up some momentum making her an established middleweight. However JJ and Sienna wanted to run LAW, so being established wasn't good enough. She wanted to be the alpha middleweight plain and simple. Tonight she was about to step into the ring with a male, and she would prove she was pure dominance.
As JJ was clad in her wrestling attire of purple and turquoise the ebony powerhouse of a woman marched out into the arena when her music played. She blew a kiss to the crowd and winked before giving her own backside a slap. JJ strut down and swayed her hips smiling at the guy waiting for her between he ropes. She climbed up onto the apron then through the ropes strutting around the ring with her arms out. She eventually stopped in the middle of the ring with a hand on her hip while pointing to Kyo. "Well you are certainly all man I will say that. I hope you are ready to be thrown around and put down by a lady." JJ said with a grin and raised eyebrow.
As Kyo waited for his opponent to arrive, their theme song started to play. The sound made Kyo immediately pause: something about this particular theme music seemed familiar somehow, he just couldn't place where...
And then his opponent made her way into the ring, to the sound of cheers from her fans. She was definitely not what Kyo had been expecting: tall, broad and powerful, JJ walked with an easy confidence, two piece outfit doing nothing to hide her fit figure she sauntered towards the ring. Kyo was, admittedly, briefly entranced even as he took her measure: she was definitely close to him in size, and might even be more than a match for him in strength. She was definitely going to be a tough opponent to contend with.
And that theme music of hers continued to play even as she made her way towards the ring. Damn it, why did it sound so familiar? He thought back to times when he had seen bits of American pro wrestling when he was a kid, and a lot of the matches he had re-watched later one when he had been beginning his career...
It was when JJ finally stepped into the ring opposite him, and initiated some friendly trash talk, that everything clicked into place.
"Jackie's theme?" he blurted. He then realized he had said that out loud, and rubbed the back of his head. "Eh...sorry, I was thinking out loud...but your theme music, it's Jacqueline Moore's theme from 90's WWF, right?"

JJ climbed through the ropes and smiled at Kyo. "It sure is, she was the best then and I am the best right here and now honey." JJ said flexing a bicep then smacking her backside. "I know you are a big buff man but don't think I can't muscle you around and introduce you to the canvas." JJ added with a wink as she stepped up to the middle of the ring with a cocky smile on her face.
JJ stepped up and as Kyo came close she would reach over and smack his backside! "Hmm, not bad. You take the gym seriously and that is a good thing." JJ said as the bell rang before smiling and holding her hands out ready to grapple with the man opposite her in the ring.
JJ was clearly someone who appreciated old school wrestling: not only was she using Jackie's theme from the 90's, he noted, but her outfit-- brightly coloured, with lots of tassles-- would have been right at home in GLOW or something like early WCW. As Kyo commented on this, JJ more or less confirmed it, and flexed for good measure, showing off her powerful physique once more. It was, Kyo had to admit, more than a little distracting.
"Don't think I'm going to make that easy for you," Kyo replied, meeting JJ's confident smile with one of his own. His smile turned into a look of surprise, though, as JJ slapped him across the rear. That...he actually hadn't been expecting that. He felt his face go red, and heard the audience chuckle at his stunned reaction. He tried his best to regain his composure, even as JJ began to circle him: it wouldn't do for him to lose face so early in the match.
The bell rang, and JJ began by motioning for a lockup: still trying to restore his dignity, Kyo met her head on, darting in to grapple with her, to pit his strength against hers. The two pushed and twisted against each other, and Kyo gritted his teeth as they grappled collar and elbow. JJ was every bit as strong as she looked, and as the two pushed and twisted, Kyo found himself deadlocked against her. Taking a deep breath, he would try to drop low and spin around behind JJ, hoping to twist her arm behind her back in a classic hammerlock.
"Don't get me wrong, Jacqueline was a great wrestler," he would breathe if he managed to pull this off, "but I wouldn't call her the greatest of all time. She was good, but not in the same league as Manami Toyota or Wendi Richter or Aja Kong." Being the nerd for wrestling history that he was, Kyo couldn't help but engage in a bit of debate with JJ even as he wrestled her.
JJ was about to try to do something herself but Kyo beat her to the punch! She groaned as she reached up to rub the shoulder of her pulled arm shaking her head. "Wendi? Jackie would trash that flabby thunder thighed white girl!" JJ said before reaching back with her free hand grabbing Kyo by the hair and then kneeling while snapmaring him down to the mat in front of her attempting to transition into a rear chin lock to put him in a hold instead!
Kyo had decided to initiate this match with some good old fashioned grappling. It was a style that JJ seemed to be well versed in as well, however, as she quickly executed a quick and efficient counter, grabbing Kyo by the hair and flipping him down onto his butt, before snagging him in a rear chin lock! Kyo gagged, instinctively grabbing for JJ's powerful arms as they encircled his head.
"Nnrgh...we'll never know but...I'm just saying...Jackie was great...but not in my top three..." Even in the middle of a match, Kyo continued to find himself debating with JJ. He hadn't even mentioned his actual top 3, but he hadn't wanted to sound too biased by having them all be Japanese wrestlers. Either way, he responded quickly, grabbing at JJ's wrist with both hands before rotating his entire body onto the side, hoping to reverse out of the chinlock and flip JJ front-first onto the mat! If he managed that, then he would try to fold JJ's arm behind her back while pressing down on her with one knee!
"Ngh! You are just a damn fool if you can't recognize great!" JJ said before being caught off guard and being sent crashing down onto her front with her arm painfully twist behind her back! "RGH!"
JJ kicked the mat and thrashed about stuck in the hold while she tried to free herself. She tried to use her arm and get her legs under her to push herself up to her hands and knees to power her way into a position where she was still in the hold but hopefully able to stand. She tried to get back up and have Kyo behind her again this time swinging her elbow back into his head!
Kyo managed to quickly turn the tables on JJ, knocking her down and bringing her down onto her front. "And you..." he breathed, "are a fangirl." Not that there was anything wrong with that, the wrestling community was one driven by fandoms, but he barely had time to say that as he was trying to keep JJ down.
Had she not managed to get free, then Kyo would have quickly transitioned into an armbar, swivelling over to scissor his legs around her trapped arm. Unfortunately, JJ had other ideas, and she was soon pushing herself back up to her feet, throwing and elbow back into his head! "Ugh!" he grunted, staggering back and releasing the ebony beauty as stars danced across his vision.
Shaking his head, Kyo knew he had to get back into his fight, and so he burst into a run at JJ, aiming to duck low under her arm and run past her, and hopefully to rebound into her with a clothesline as she was turning around!
"Fangirl huh?! Oh you are gonna get it you... UGH!"
Things didn't go quite as JJ planned as she swung and missed, only to get leveled by a clothesline from Kyo! She hit the mat and groaned kicking and rubbing her chest. She shook her head and it was clear she was getting really angry. Not really at Kyo as much as she was at herself for this showing. "I am gonna mess you up pretty boy...." JJ said as she slapped the mat trying to get to her feet.
