Victory by 3-count pinfall, submission or KO
Wisteria Khan. That was who his opponent had been billed as, Kyo thought ruefully as he finished fastening his boots. In any other circumstance, he would have accepted that as his opponent's name, either real or staged, and fought her regardless of that name. But no sooner had their match been announced when his sister Makie had done some digging and found out the woman's true name: Sheena. Sheena Akan. Somehow, after all of these years, after having had so much time to distance himself from his father's career and death...he was facing an Akan.
His fist clenched involuntarily. When he was a boy, he had always watched the matches of his father, Keichi "King Crimson" Akamatsu. His dad had been one of his heroes, and he had always known he was going to follow his footsteps into the ring. But while his dad had always had more than a few rivalries and heated matches in his long career, his rivalry with Yamato Akan had always stood out. The two men had faced each other in the ring no less than five times, with two victories apiece. The media and the fanbase had latched on to their back and forth matches, and, perhaps fueled by this, an intense feud had soon brewed between them. Kyo never knew what had started it, but his dad had always seemed intensely driven to be better than Yamato Akan, and to defeat him the next time the two of them fought.
In their fifth match, during a vital championship bout, Keichi and Yamato had knocked the seven hells out of each other. It had been such a furious match that the referee had accidentally been knocked after accidentally catching a boot to the head-- a fact that the King Crimson had only noticed when he had gone for a 3 count pin....after which, unfortunately, the time limit for the brutal match had finally elapsed, ending the match before either wrestlers could score a victory. The entire bout left everyone dissatisfied; King Crimson had felt cheated, Yamato Akan had only retained his belt by default, and the fans felt disappointed at such an anticlimactic ending. King Crimson had vowed to fight Yamato Akan again in another rematch, to even the score between them once and for all.
Unfortunately, a few days later, Keichi Akamatsu had broken his neck in a botched hurricanrana, and died in the ring. That rematch would never come.
And now, Kyo was about to face the niece of Yamato Akan here, in the LAW ring. He took a deep breath. While he had no idea what had started that feud all those years ago, he felt the pressure of family honour to tilt the score in his family's favour...or at the very least, not to lose. A lot of things were on the line here-- his family's honour, his father's memory, and the legacy he has built his career upon-- and he could not afford to fail.
With a final, deep breath, Kyo strode down the ramp.
