Casey Kiernan vs. Scarlett Blaze

Unread post by Dubski »

Casey Kiernan vs. Scarlett Blaze
Match Type:
Standard
Rules: Winner must pin, submit, or knock out her opponent.

The arena dimmed as "Get Over It" by OK Go starts to play and Casey Kiernan shuffled out onto the stage, hanging her head with a very distinguishable pout on her lips. She had been called upon to do another match. She had to either interview someone or wrestle. She tried hard to get an interview set up, but the person she had set up backed out because, direct quote, "Casey Kiernan sucks." To which Casey had immediately thought, "Fair, but--" And thus, to remain employed she would have to make an appearance in the ring.

Thus, she was unenthusiastically coming down to the ring, slothing her way down the ramp, almost making an attempt to high five some fans, which was just her being out of reach, holding up her arm with a limp wrist as they barely missed her hand. She was dressed in her usual gear, which was practically the only thing about her that seemed ready. Then, slowly crawling into the ring, Casey rolled a bit before holding a hand out to the referee, who looked positively baffled, pointing at herself. With another wag of her arm, the referee begrudgingly helped Kiernan to her feet, which she did before pulling the referee towards her and stating plainly, "Let me leave." The confused referee simply shrugged helplessly, giving Casey Kiernan a strange look.

Casey walked her way to the corner, looking like she was about to climb up to the top rope... but that seemed like too much work. So she went to climb to the middle rope... but that also seemed like a lot. So instead she put a boot on the bottom rope. And then she promptly buried her face in the top turnbuckle pad and let out a loud groan with both arms hung over the top ropes as she laid in the corner. A strange look, but for the woman who wanted to wrestle the least on the roster, it was typical of Casey Kiernan. It was either compete or be unemployed, and as much as she hated the idea of wrestling, Casey knew she had to be employed. And thus, Kiernan was left in her corner while her opponent made her way to the ring.

Spoiler
Scarlett was waiting on the backstage while her rival made her entrance. The redhead was all nerves, shaking in place as she thought of the upcoming match. This wasn’t her first match, but her debut was against a much bigger rival than her and that was a loss sentence for her. Julia Ingrum didn’t just win against Scarlett, she destroyed her in a completely one-sided match. It was only natural for Scarlett to just think this is another debut for her, her first true chance to show her skills. At least this time she kneof her rival and it was someone close to her range of size. The redhead had been a fan of L.A.W. for a long time before joining the league, and despite her not being one of the most prominent faces to see in the league mostly everyone who knew of L.A.W. knew of Casey Kiernan. The interviewer and wrestler was well known for having an aloof attitude, almost as if she wasn't fighting or making interviews by her own will, and that was exactly what she looked like when she made her entrance. Maybe Scarlett could use that to her advantage.

Deeply breathing to calm herself, Scarlett made her appearance on stage. Trying her best to look collected she walked down the ramp, mostly ignoring the catcalling from those in the stands who remembered her from her debut. She would focus on the next step and then on the next and so on until almost without realizing she made it to the ring and slipped between the ropes. After arriving on the mat she walked to the center of the ring to make an introduction that sounded shy and nervous. "Um, hi Casey. Nice to meet you, kind of a fan. Let's have a good match.", said Scarlett politely while offering a handshake.

Casey Kiernan kept her face buried in the turnbuckle pad as her opponent's theme music played. She let out an annoyed, muffled sigh into it and sunk more into the corner. Eventually, the blonde would push herself out of the corner, only to turn and flop back against it again, pouting as she watched Scarlett finish off her entrance. She hated this. It was so loud. There were so many lights. There were so many people watching. And worst of all, she was expected to do something.

When the match was ready to get underway, Casey Kiernan got a direct request to do something. The referee, after waiting long enough tapping Casey on the shoulder, pointing to the center of the ring. With a long--much too long, much too obnoxious--sigh, the interviewer/wrestler got out of her comfy little corner and then slothed forward, head hung as she slowly made her way to the middle of the ring where her opponent was. Her opponent seemed a little timid, not that Casey paid nothing more than a glancing thought about it.

But when Scarlett spoke, Casey looked up at her, still pouting. Her head canted slightly as she looked at Blaze, squinting at her slightly before shaking her head. "No you're not. Nobody is a fan of mine," said Kiernan before she looked down at the outstretched hand. Letting out another sigh, she slowly reached a hand out to shake Scarlett's... before she slowly found herself lowering to the mat, her hand slipping further and further down until Casey was sitting cross-legged on the mat, and then her hand, which was close to grasping her opponent's, abruptly fell down. And then Casey Kiernan let out a little whine of disappointment, eyes drifting down as she watched the mat.

It was certainly not the most orthodox start to the match, and it was definitely not advisable by any stretch. No wrestler would willingly leave herself open like this to her opponent--but Casey Kiernan was hardly like any other wrestler on the roster, and she didn't seem to care the position it put her in. Even after the referee had called for the bell, signaling the start of their match.

Having known about L.A.W. for some time now, Scarlett was pretty used to hearing the name of Casey Kiernan, and the interviewer had quite a reputation of being a little lazy and sluggish in her performances. However, one thing was knowing that fact and another pretty different thing was experiencing it first hand as her rival. For Kiernan even getting to the center of the ring to meet Scarlett was a nuisance that looked like was ruining her day, and after dismissing the debutant’s words she went for one of the weakest, lamest handshakes ever. Despite knowing of Casey’s reputation, Scarlett was starting to form a negative first impression of her rival.

As the handshake died out, Casey started drifting downwards, almost as if the blonde was fainting, until she was sitting with her legs crossed on the mat. At that moment the bell rang, signalling the beginning of the match, but how could Scarlett take that seriously? How could she go at a rival who didn’t want to partake in the match? At first the redhead looked at her rival in awe, not sure of what to do next. She wasn’t ready for this, and her eyes looked at the referee searching for some sign of understanding and guidance, but that wouldn’t come. Still baffled and confused about what to do she would adopt a guarding stance while she would issue a challenge. “Come on Casey, give me a good debut.”

Casey Kiernan was definitely feeling the wrestling blues, not even more than a second into the match--and probably far before that. She sat down in the middle of the ring, a booboo face etched on her as she looked down at the mat. She then took a deep breath and let out a long sigh. Just a miserable position to be in--having to compete in a wrestling match.

She would hear Scarlett's response though, and her please for a good debut. This girl was new. She just wanted to be able to impress people. Casey understood that. Blaze seemed nice enough, and Kiernan could see it on her face when she looked up on her. As a wrestler, an impressive showing would increase her stock and allow her to get paid more and be in more matches, among other things. And Casey felt she should really do her a solid.

"I can't give you a good debut," stated Casey plainly before slowly falling back as her legs stretched out, keeping her legs closed to avoid any wandering eyes. And then she was laying on her back, pouting up at the lights. "There has never been a good debut, or a good wrestling match, because wrestling is not good," explained Kiernan. She spoke the words like they were obvious--and anyone should know the truth of wrestling just being bad. That was how she'd help her. Convince her that wrestling was, in fact, not good.

Or she would try. And be try, just state that wrestling wasn't good. It was the most lukewarm of efforts, but often that was about as strong as Casey Kiernan's efforts went most times. She would conclude with another sad sigh, letting her arms lay at her sides as she relaxed in the ring, letting Scarlett ponder her very wise words in peace.

Scarlett just couldn’t believe what she was witnessing. Her first match had been a complete squash against a much bigger rival who let her no room for any action, and now that she had a proper first match in which she could prove herself the redhead was booked against a complete lukewarm of a rival! Casey not only wasn’t interested in fighting, she just made it clear and sound by sitting on the mat after the bell had rung, denying Scarlett the match she craved for. Of course Scarlett didn’t know what to make of this, looking at the referee while searching for some guidance, some help or understanding there, but she got none from the ref. Some guidance she got though, in the form of some deep-sounding postulating coming from Cassey about the futility of wrestling in general and how that match was doomed from the very beginning, and after that Cassey just rested on the mat.

Scarlett was baffled. How could she have such bad luck when dealing with rivals? How could she work to make a decent show with someone who was so unwilling to fight back? She was still inexperienced in L.A.W. and in her mind she had made up some scenario in which a cool veteran eased her into the new league’s scenario, but that was the complete opposite to that. The crowd was starting to get impatient from the lack of action, and some timid booing could be heard. Feeling a rush of anger and her face getting red in embarrassment, Scarlett stomped on the mat while outbursting. “Get up and fight already!”

Casey Kiernan folded her hands on her midriff as she stared at the lights. What was the meaning of this? Why wouldn't she just quit? Was the paycheck worth it? Yes, but still. Could she really make the most of this? Why were they starting to boo? Why was this new girl matched up against her? Why was she yelling and stomping her feet like a child? The last question made Casey glancing up at Scarlett, squinting her eyes. "I don't do fights. Fights are... they're a lot, you know?" explained Kiernan vaguely.

But then something happened that finally got Casey to stand up. The referee started to count her down. One, Two, Three, Four. Casey let out a whine, looking at the referee. "Stoooooop..." plead Kiernan, only to get a glare as she continued to count. Five, Six, Seven. Then, Casey let out a long sigh and pushed herself up off the mat slowly, pouting.

And at Nine, Casey Kiernan was up again, the crowd giving a polite cheer as the match seemed like it was on its way. Sadly looking at Blaze, she heaved another sigh. "Fiiiiine..." And taking a deep breath, Casey prepared for her first attack. Taking a lazy grappling pose, Kiernan's mouth creased as she watched Scarlett.

And then she launched her strike. Pulling her arm back, she would then fire a forearm directly towards Scarlett Blaze. Only it was at a slow pace, no force behind it. And then finally, it collided with Scarlett, gently bumping into the side of her face. And then her arm fell limp like a noodle, and Casey resumed pouting again. What a terrible, awful, no good time.

What the hell was going on with that rival? Scarlett was starting to feel like losing her cool. She had approached the match and Casey with her best face and cordiality, to have a lukeworm reaction of someone that didn’t even want to be there! The redhead knew that there was much at stake in that second match on her career and she wanted to leave a good impression in both management and the fans but she couldn’t do that when her rival wasn’t even willing to fight! The referee lent Scarlett a hand though when they started counting since Casey was actually down. After some excruciatingly long seconds the blonde sluggishly got on her feet, and when Scarlett noticed her rival getting into a guard stance she believed for just an instant that Casey was going to fight back. That was until a slow, ridiculously-looking hit pressed against her face in a travestry of a wrestling hit.

“Oh Come on!!!” Scarlett had enough. She was pretty tired of that woman’s lukewarm reactions and hesitance to give her anything that would slightly resemble like a wrestling match. If Casey wasn’t willing to make things exciting for the redhead and the crowd it would be Scarlett the one taking the initiative. Losing herself a little in her anger against her rival Scarlett would start by throwing one knife chop at Casey’s chest, then another one, and another one, sending stings of pain through her until the blonde decided to properly react.

Casey's dramatic forearm strike landed with a deafened tap, and her arm fell down shortly after. She pouted, not finding the will or desire to actually fight back right now. But Kiernan jumped slightly when she heard the loud, objectionable reaction from Scarlett. Her eyes went wide as she canted her head to the side, giving her a look like she didn't know what she expected from her. That would be clear though as Blaze decided to take matters into her own hands.

Specifically the side of them.

A chop went right into Casey's chest, echoing out into the crowd as she grimaced. "Ow!" yelled the lazy performer. A second one came after. "That hurt!" objected Casey as she recoiled back from it. "OW!" exclaimed Kiernan once more putting a hand over her chest as she winced in pain.

And then another one appeared to be coming at her, and instead of taking it, Casey Kiernan instead intercepted, grabbing Scarlett's arm and wrist as she ducked down, applying a firm wrist lock--almost expertly before quickly ducking behind Scarlett, wrenching the limb behind her back and then ducking down, swiftly transitioning to send Scarlett up and over her shoulders in a simple Fireman's Carry.

Casey would then get right back to her feet, holding her chest and hissed softly, acting as though she hadn't actually applied any offense in this match as she grimaced, looking down at Blaze. "That seriously hurt. Like you were really trying to hurt me or something," said Casey with a soft whine, objecting to that chopping treatment she had received, all the while not following up on the basic string of offense she had sent her foe's way.

Scarlett was completely out of herself, so mad at how the match was unfolding, or not unfolding if you asked her, that she could feel her blood boiling. That was how the redhead got enraged and engaged in a series of chops that would surely get some sting on the lukewarm Casey. Maybe with that the blonde would snap out of her state and start fighting back or at least that was what Scarlett hoped for.

After connecting three consecutive chops to Casey’s chest Scarlett started feeling like she was in a proper match, but the fourth hit wouldn’t be a successful one since the blonde interviewer managed to grab Scarlett by the wrist. Not expecting that kind of resistance, the redhead was easily put into a wristlock before being lifted and rested over Casey’s shoulders on a fireman’s carry.

Scarlett closed her eyes and expected the upcoming impact against the mat but after some seconds that didn’t came to pass. Instead Casey was scolding her for her willingness to fight or hurt her. It wasn’t as if the redhead wanted to hurt her rival, but she wanted a proper wrestling experience. “Are you serious? If you don’t want to fight why are you here? There are lots of people who would take this chance and do something with it!” Her words were bitter in nature as she couldn’t understand what was going on with that rival.
