The lights around the arena dimmed as the next match was about to get underway. The crowd's noise became a low murmur of anticipation, awaiting the entrance of the next fighter. Purple lights flashed across the arena as smoke began to billow from behind the stage, lights strobing to mimick the look of lightning. The electric riffs of a guitar began to play over the speakers as Yumi stepped out onto the ramp, raising a hand above her head to the crowd's cheers. The athletic girl had a bit of a mixed record since coming to LAW, but she had also shown her spirit and skill. Most people had high expectations that whenever she came out, it would turn into an entertaining match! Spoiler
After posing at the top of the ramp for a few moments, Yumi took off towards the ring at a full sprint, her long purple hair whipping in the air behind her as she built up speed. The athletic girl jumped into the ring in her usual flashy way, leaping onto the ring apron and then vaulting herself over the top ropes, landing lightly on her feet. She did another circle around the ring as she waved and fired up the crowd, before returning to her corner, stretching herself out a bit as she awaited the entrance of her opponent.
Another rung on the ladder to the top. Can't afford to get lazy or complacent. This is what she's here for. To rise. To excel. To break expectations.
Katsumi bobs on her boots backstage, arms swinging back and forth to limber herself up. Adrenaline is running, a sense of anxiousness built up in her core - that's true before every match, though. She isn't nervous; rather it's a mix of excitement and the very keen awareness that she's about to get into a fight. To wrestle with someone for dominance in front of a live audience.
God, she loves her job.
Pinching the edge of her sunglasses, Katsumi slides them up over her crown to watch the monitors clearly. The other girl is pretty. But she intends to blow everyone away. That is, in her usual abrasive manner. A punk's gotta punk. It's all part of the fun for her.
In the arena, the lights suddenly darken. The titantron comes alive with the heavy electric licks of a guitar as her video begins. Deep purple and vivid green lasers dance along the ramp and above the audience. Her actual intro video.
Her logo plays against a cloudy moonlit sky, sparkling amethyst lettering in dramatic slashes centered with a pair of ominous feline-esque eyes.
And with the rising crescendo of the song's introduction and the advent of her sizzle reel, Katsumi erupts onto the stage with a charge, halting front and center with a wild spin, fists raised high and head tipped back, soaking in the noticeably mixed reaction from the audience. She ends the motion with a single, firm fistpump before pointing ahead to the insofar innocent Miss Yumi. With a wickedly predatorial smile, her eyes narrow. Entrance Attire
The pointing callout lasts a couple intense seconds before she's suddenly making her way down the ramp, left hand propped to her waist as she confidently sashays between the throbbing lasers. Upon reaching the edge of the ring, she grabs onto the middle rope to neatly haul her lightweight frame up onto the apron. She swings to her full height and stands poised facing out to the roaring crowd.
One fist raises. Another moves beside it and begins 'cranking'. Slowly and steadily, her middle finger rises to the fans. And once at full mast, the girl gives a cloying air-kiss. "Muah~," just to aggravate.
It rules up the audience as intended, polarizing them further. To half the audience, they can't get enough of her edgy attitude and spunk. To the other half, she's everything wrong with the sport and they're itching to see her punished. Katsumi languishes in both.
With a deceptively girlish giggle, she drops her arms and arches her body back against the ropes before spilling over in a smooth somersault, alighting upon her golden-soled boots. She turns and races up a far turnbuckle, poised on the middle ropes to clap broadly above her head, radiant smile worn.
At last, she drops from her perch and plucks the shades from atop her head to tuck into a jacket pocket. Then, she shrugs the outerwear from her slender frame, letting it bundle just outside the rope boundaries. Sleekly toned and athletic body significantly more bared, she turns to face her opponent for the night. Katsumi, Ready to Go
The referee-girl closes in to inspect her while Katsumi leans back into her corner, hands gripping the top ropes at either side, expressive emerald eyes locked onto the girl across from her.

Yumi could tell Katsumi was trying her hardest to look intimidating, with the way the girl smiled as she made her way down the ramp. She wasn't here to play up the crowd, like Yumi was. Katsumi was mean, dark, and punk, and while some in the crowd didn't like that, most of them loved it. For her part, Yumi wasn't particularly intimidated, as she had seen plenty of fighters with that whole schtick now that she had been at LAW for a while. Katsumi didn't strike her as just a poser though, perhaps she had some real skill in the ring and would make for a good challenge!
After bouncing on her feet for a few moments to get all fired up, Yumi felt ready to get started. As usual, the sportsmanlike Chinese fighter stepped to the center of the ring, offering her hand out for a greeting. "Let's have a good match!" she said, purple eyes locking onto her opponent's green irises, not expecting any kind of fair response but wary of any sucker punched Katsumi may throw.
The referee motions the two in to start the bell, waving an arm. *DING!*
Katsumi pulls herself out of the corner, hips arching first before she strides forward. A hand is offered forward, and the punkette's brows raise. She regards the hand for a few seconds in silence, then flashes Yumi a winning smile. Palm meets palm. No cheap shot, no instant assault! "You bet!" She gives the hand a quick shake, only to abruptly YANK on it to pitch the girl forward, Katsumi's knee thrusting upwards to forcefully impact the pit of her stomach.
A delayed surprise attack. Katsumi's usual brand of opening ferocity was becoming too predictable with the previous matches; it was time to change things up. And naturally, she'd be met with some raucous booing from the audience for her unsportsmanlike behavior.
Yumi could tell Katsumi was up to no good simply by her behavior, though she still offered her hand for a fair shake, she expected that her opponent had some trick up her sleeve. But when Katsumi took her hand and gave her a firm and rather enthusiastic shake, she was a little taken aback. Maybe this girl wasn't as bad as she seemed?
That thought immediately ended when the bell rang and Katsumi pulled her forward, throwing a knee up and slamming it into Yumi's belly before the Chinese girl was ready. "Guh!" Yumi gasped, eyes widening when she realized she had been tricked after all! Katsumi hadn't broken any rules though, as she waited for the bell before attacking. Though it was unfair, the move was perfectly legal. This girl was trickier than she thought!
Though she caught Yumi off guard, the Chinese girl was too tough to go down with just a single strike like this. Though she was doubled over, she could still attack. And Katsumi's leg was the perfect target. Before the punk girl could pull her leg back, Yumi's free hand wrapped around the back of her thigh, hugging it close into her body. "Raaah!" Yumi yelled out, twisting her body to the side while gripping the leg tight, attempting to sweep Katsumi off her feet with a Dragon Screw Takedown in retaliation for that knee! She was going to make Katsumi's legs hurt for striking her like that!
Oh, it was a satisfying feeling, getting the first hit - and a surprise hit, at that! The boos washing over her, expecting ire from her opponent for it, it's all so fun! And she had some follow-up in mind, smirking to herself. A hand places over Yumi's back, the other arm starting to hook her head - only for her leg to be taken and twisted, spinning her down to the mat in a wrench!
"Anh!," she yelps. Her back hits the mat, and her teeth clamp together. The free leg locks back and thrusts forward, rocketing her heel towards Yumi - head, chest, midsection, whatever she can nail to knock her away!
Yumi's counter to the cheap shot drew a cheer from the crowd. Katsumi had shown she was disrespectful to both them and to her opponent, and they were eager to see someone who fought fairly take her down a few pegs. Yumi wanted to continue working over Katsumi's legs, but the punk girl responded quickly by kicking out at her, forcing Yumi to release her leg and quickly roll away lest she get hit somewhere sensitive. The Chinese fighter quickly rolled up onto her knees, pushing to her feet in a single smooth motion. She was building up momentum and wasn't about to let Katsumi stop her!
"Time for takeoff!" she said, rushing back at Katsumi to try and catch her opponent off guard. Should Katsumi be standing, Yumi would leap up and try to deliver a dropkick right on her chest to knock her off her feet! If Katsumi wasn't fully up yet, she would aim her dropkick lower, going for a basement dropkick to hit Katsumi on her shoulder instead and send her sprawling!
Absolutely disrespectful and punky, for sure. That's perfectly on-brand for the Punk Princess. But fortunately for her, her hiatus came with something a little extra - refined training. Focus. The skills needed to excel, not just bluster about it.
It hasn't served her too well in this opening gambit, but she's looking for an opening to take the momentum. She just needs that opening...
For now, however, Katsumi is on the receiving end. The moment she gets up, a pair of boots collides with her modest chest, earning a grunt from the girl. She fumbles back, only managing to avoid fully falling over by hooking an arm over the top rope behind her, her legs slack and body slouching. Those brilliant green eyes rest fixated on Yumi, a grimace on her face from the pain.
But if she can hang there and bide her time? If Yumi will hopefully take the opening for a running shot against her? She's prepared to dip low and yank the ropes to send her pretty opponent tumbling out of the ring and down to the padding below!
After landing her dropkick, Yumi felt like all the momentum of the match had swung towards her. She had Katsumi on the ropes, the punk girl grimacing in pain after Yumi landed that solid blow. And she was just getting started, quickly kipping back up to her feet as the moved in to press her advantage.
After leaping to her feet, Yumi rushed in full speed, raising one hand as she prepared to throw an elbow right into Katsumi's face! That would teach her a lesson, she thought, as she hoped to knock the punk girl out of the ring with that blow! But when she got into range and fired her attack, Katsumi suddenly ducked down, pulling the top ropes with her and leaving Yumi with no target to hit!
"Uwah!" Yumi gasped, her momentum carrying her forward and sending her tumbling out of the ring! She flipped head over heels, her butt landing hard against the ring apron making her wince in pain. But, through sheer luck, she managed to land on her feet. Stumbling forward, Yumi groaned as she rubbed her lower back, her momentum carrying her all the way to the steel rails that blocked out the audience. She grabbed onto a rail, bending over slightly, looking back out the corner of her eye to see what Katsumi was getting up to behind her.
It wasn't the full-blown spillout Katsumi was hoping for, but she'll gladly take an impromptu atomic drop onto the hardest part of the ring! A wicked little smile edges her lips as she watches her fumble to the barricades, rapidly eliminating certain follow-up. She doesn't have room enough to do something really crazy - she'd just end up hurting herself.
Even if she's having to take a more measured approach, she's still happy about it. The audience is on their feet, many pulling for Su Yumi to rally, trying to warn her that Katsumi is coming, a few daring hands in the crowd patting at her arms and shoulders in a terribly supportive and not at all desperate-to-touch-a-wrestler way.
The Punk Princess grips onto the middle rope and smoothly slither-slides her body out beneath the bottom rope to transition to her feet on the outside. Closing in on Yumi, she grabs for the Chinese grappler's shoulder to turn her around to face her, intent on arching her back over the railing, just to cleanly - and SHARPLY - execute a reverse chop across her chest, slapping the soft skin just above the swell of her breasts.
