The Phoenix and the Punk Princess: Aurora Gonzalez (D) vs. Katsumi Oshiro

Aurora Gonzalez's music blasted in the arena. The fiery Latina came out and danced on the entrance ramp. The Japanese crowd was not as familiar with the song, which was surely disappointing. No matter. Aurora would teach them. She danced and pranced her way down the ramp to the ring and did an impressive jump up to the apron and Assassin's Creed parkoured her way to the top rope. She basked in the spotlight and preened for the crowd.

She then dropped down and awaited her opponent.

Though it may be surprising, Katsumi has a few things going for her on a multicultural level. First, she speaks a very clean, fluent English when needed. Her accent is a distinct West Coast American metropolitan with just a hint of valley, perfectly at home in the upper hills of California. One can thank her adoptive parents for that - their endeavors to cultivate their daughter meant a demanding curriculum and practice in conversational English so as not to embarrass them in front of overseas business associates. The second thing is more thanks to her vocation in the world of music, and how heavily her parents pushed her into it. Those two facets came together, resulting in an expansive familiarity with music both American, and mainstreamed in America.

All that to say - Katsumi is very familiar with the music Miss Gonzalez has brought to the table. And much to the confusion and not-so-subtle judgment of the technicians in the back, the Punk Princess is laughing. It's just so... typical! And she has to let her know!

She shrugs out of her entrance attire, tucking her sunglasses into a pocket of the jacket before passing it to a stagehand. "Put it away. Not usin' it tonight. And hey!," she says, grabbing his collar before he gets more than a step away. "If you scuff the leather, I'm scuffin' your ass."

"Y-yes, Oshiro-san," stammers the man uncomfortably.

She turns him loose with a dramatic opening of her hand. He scurries away back to her dressing room.

"Now." Her head bows. "Hit my damn music."

The lights in the arena dim until only a sea of pinpointed cellphone lights can be seen in the stands. The heavy strums of an electric guitar begin to sound in the arena, and brilliant emerald and amethyst laserlights begin dancing throughout the wide expanse of the arena.

Her actual intro video.

"And her opponent!," begins the announcer. "From Osaka, Japan! At a height of 5'7" and weighing in at 124 lbs.! The Punk Princess, herself! KATSUMIII! OOOSHIIIROOOO!"

The girl strides out, arms held out to either side and with a single twirl on her heel, absorbing the noticeably mixed reaction from the crowd. Half are cheering, the other half drowning her in scorn. It's all cherry to her, as indicated by the coy smirk playing on her lips.

Her right hand props to her waist, hips cocked like a loaded gun, one shoulder popped in confident, sassy pose that somehow only emphasizes the sleekness of her body and trim figure, put well on display with the black and gold gear.

Katsumi, Ready to Go

Suddenly she bursts into theatrics laughter, doubling over, gloved hands propping over her knees. When she straightens her posture again, she gives a halfhearted shimmy-wobble in clear mockery of Aurora's dancing before another round of laughter takes over. She brushes a finger under her eye as if clearing a giggle-tear, then waves her hands dismissively to the Latina up ahead. Nothing but disrespect!

The audience responds with a fresh crescendo of boos for her. Others still - notably the edgelords in the house - counter with more cheer. She's a polarizing figure, that one.

At last, the Punk Princess begins down the ramp towards the ring. Her hands lift, palms turned outward to either side of the aisle, foregoing any highfives, hugs, or handshakes with the fans and instead opting to paradoxically acknowledge and dismiss them at the same time. All to the tune of a confident stride, hips asway.

Upon reaching the apron, she grabs the middle rope and smoothly swings herself up onto the ring's edge. Turning to brace her back against the ropes, her fists lift again, side to side. And then, she slowly, methodically, 'cranks' her middle finger up at the audience spread before her. When at full mast, she gives a teasing air-kiss.

"Muah~"

Back arching over the top rope, she rolls over it to land on her gold-soled boots. She dashes up the furthest turnbuckle to perch on the second ropes, arms raised to clap at the crowd with a smug little smirk.

Finally, she hopes down to move into her corner, giving the referee a chance to check her over. And that's when her gaze settles on the Latina across from her. "Is there like a law out there that says every Mexican wrestler girl has to use Douchelord's music for their intro?," she chides. "Or are you really that lame all on your own?"

Aurora watched with mild interest as Katsumi made her way to the ring. It was a nice entrance, even she had to admit to herself. But then the bitch had to talk trash both her and Ricky Martin. Aurora got in her face immediately. "¡¿Crees que eres tan lista?! ¡No sabes mierda!" The ref inserted himself between the two to keep hostilities from breaking out before the belt. Once Aurora calmed herself, she switched to English. "You can say what you want about me. I've heard worse. But I'll show you what happens when you shit talk Ricky Martin." Aurora backed up and waited for the bell to ring. Once it did, she raised her arms, inviting Katsumi for a lockup. However, Aurora fully expected Katsumi to not accept the lockup and try to strike her first. If she did, Aurora would attempt to dodge and leg sweep Katsumi off of her feet.

"Hahah, holy shit, it's like being screamed at by a demon!," says Katsumi, hands raised and utterly playing the victim when the referee moves in.

She got under her opponent's perfectly tanned skin. How fun! God, she loves big reactions. And it gets the crowd so amped up!

"What, is he your baby-daddy?," mocks the impish punkette. "Because, honey, he's got more side-pieces than a KFC bucket." She moues her lips towards Aurora in fake sympathy.

The bell sounds off and, for all her sass, the Punk Princess's opening shenanigans was read like a headline. With a quick jaunt forward, the girl aimed a full super kick for Aurora's chin right off the bat, only to find herself evaded and her supporting leg swept.

"Ahn!," she squeaks upon hitting the mat.

"¡Joder! ¡Eres una pesada!" Aurora taunted after knocking Katsumi off her feet. She delivered a couple of swift stomps to her downed foe. "At least I have taste in music, unlike whatever the fuck you listen to." She then turned around and flipped backwards, attempting to nail her foe with a standing moonsault. If successful, she would lock Katsumi in a headlock on the ground.

The stomps coming raining down, leaving Katsumi's body twitching in response for the first couple, then curling defensively. "Gh!"

But when she prepares for the standing moonsault, Katsumi's eyes narrow on her. Such brazen confidence! The Latina springs into the air and comes down, finding only a pair of knees digging into her stomach for her trouble.

The girl rolls over with her, aiming to quickly lie over Aurora's figure. Seizing for her arm, she attempts to hook one arm behind the Latina's head and pull her arm backwards, threading with it in a keylock, securing the bundle of limbs with her other hand.

Though still lying atop Aurora, she pulls inwards to cinch the anaconda vice, bringing the two intimately closer. Cheek to cheek, Katsumi's warm breath beating against her shoulder, chest tight against chest, stomach to stomach, hips to hips, the Punk Princess's knees spread to secure the position as she wrenches the neck and shoulder joint.

"Only thing I'm listening to is you screamin' tonight, doll~," she chides, voice lowered in this tight proximity.

The two women were close like lovers. The audience hooted and hollered as their intimate struggle played out. Knowing Katsumi would slowly choke her out, Aurora began punching Katsumi in the ribcage with her free hand, intending to loosen her up and roll over on top of her. Aurora would then wrap her free arm around Katsumi's torso and attempt to pull her to her feet. Usually Aurora fights people bigger than her, so she was more than happy to take advantage of that. If successful at bringing Katsumi to her feet, she would then attempt a rather uncharacteristic spinebuster on her opponent.

Neck and neck couldn't be more literal in this moment. In the anaconda vice, Katsumi is pressed as tight to her as she can, in part in an effort to simply dominate Aurora's body by a mixture of pain and pressure, leaving very little wiggle room. Her head rests forward, tucked into the cradle of her own arm, cheek to cheek with the Hispanic woman, throat to throat as she wrenches on that arm. The tight proximity is a bit more intimate than intended, the heavy pound of her heart beating against Aurora's chest and easily felt through the material covering them. Every squirm gets a counter-squirm, hips jockeying to remain steadfast overtop hers. Each heated breath beats against the Latina's skin.

But that free arm proves to be a problem. A fist rams into Katsumi's ribs. "Unh!" Then another, and another. She's no weakling - she's a tough, scrappy professional athlete. But her waist is necessarily unprotected in this hold. And after enough shots, the grip on that arm loosens with a yelp, giving Aurora enough leverage to roll the two over. And naturally, the crowd goes wild. To Katsumi's surprise, Aurora doesn't attempt to disengage, but rather embrace her. Her arms lash around Aurora's shoulders, hugging back onto her in return, and she's raised, face to face with her.

Then, WHAM!

Katsumi's back hits the mat in a spine buster, immediately ragdolling the girl's limbs and causing her back to arch inwards in recoil. "Aagh!"

Aurora successfully brought Katsumi up to her feet and held onto her with both arms in a tight hug. The two women were belly to belly. ”Time for a ride, puta!” she whispered in Katsumi’s ear.

Aurora lifted her foe up and slammed her down on the canvass. She was not used to doing spinebusters and found her heart was racing (though it was also likely due to her body on body struggle with Katsumi). Aurora raised her arms in the air and roared for the crowd to get a second wind. Now feeling the time was right, Aurora ran to the ropes, jumped up on the second rope, and sprung off of it, attempting to execute a lionsault on Katsumi. If successful, Aurora would go for the pin.

Katsumi... does not speak Spanish. Even a little. The only terms she's ever had access to are those related to lucha libre, and even then, only the most surface words. So the insult whizzes right by her ear. However, the tight hold on her, gripped belly-to-belly with Aurora, the intent behind the tone, all of that registers just fine.

As well as the seizing pain after the slam to the mat.

She lies there after the initial arch, expression scrunched in pain and limbs lying scattered about herself. She doesn't catch it this time, when Aurora rebounds off the ropes. Stomach hammers over stomach, and Katsumi curls up around the Latina. "Ungh!," the gulps before the impact sees her dropping flat to the mat. Arms lie to either side, one leg stretched flat against the mat, the other knee bent but flopped aside.
