Fight Long overdue: Huan Lei Brightspring vs Zira Cabalero

Unread post by ThatPolishDude »

Match type: Last Woman Standing
Victory Condition: Rendering the opponent unable to continue for a count of 10

Huan was excited, probably more excited than she was for any fight since joining LAW. She knew Zira back from her MMA days, a very talented fighter to be sure and after Huan left, she made for a worthy champion. There was only one catch, Zira wanted a title shot at Huan back then, and Huan genuinely believed that she was possibly the only woman around that could take that belt from her. That would make for a good point to retire but unfortunately, it did not happen, of course, she understood but she wouldn't end up staying long enough for another chance to arise... Now though it was a completely different matter, they would finally get a crack at each other, no belt in sight, just the two of them. The rules were different now to be sure but the prospect of finally clashing with Zira was exhilarating.

Containing her excitement Huan prepared backstage for her entrance, the last round of stretching before getting to the gorilla position and waiting for her music to start.

Smoke filled the space, illuminated so that only her siluate would be seen. As she rose her hand gout of red sparks would erupt behind her while the smoke parted revealing her to the audience. Now she would hover her finger over the entire arena before then pulling her hand back and flexing. "This contest is a Last woman standing match! Entering first from Los Angeles, USA - standing in at six feet and weighing one hundred and eighty-six pounds! Huuuuaaaan Leiii Briiiightspppring!"

Now Huan would head down the ramp at a brisk pace, clapping hands with people to the sides that reached out. at the end, she would spin and send finger guns and a wink in the general direction of the crowd before climbing the stairs to the ring. Walking along the apron she would jump over the ropes before heading to the corner and resting her back there, ready for her foe to make the appearance

Tonight had been a long one coming. Huan Lei Brightspring. Undefeated queen of mma. Zira's greatest challenge, and possibly greatest achievement had the match happened. But Alas Zira's pregnancy had stalled the match, and Huan had retired before Zira was able to come back. Of course Zira won the title Huan held regardless, but doing so without beating the woman herself made it feel like a hollow victory. Tonight would be her chance to fill that void however. "God I am so ready to knock her ass out." Zira said to herself, tightening her yellow gloves before checking the rest of her two piece outfit.

Satisfied with the state of her attire Zira would nod to herself before grinning. Now was her time. No Mateo tonight, she needed to be totally focused for a fight against someone of Huan's caliber so she was flying solo. Smiling widely to herself she would head to the guerilla position prepared and ready for the fight of her life. Standing at the entrance ramp she would wait as soon her music started, followed shortly by the voice of the announcer. "And entering next, from Austin, Texassss! Standing at 6'2 and weighing in at one hundred and ninety six pounds! Ziraaaaa Cabalerooooooo!"
Spoiler
The mind her name had been called Zira would come out, posing proudly for the fans before doing a quick burst of shadow boxing for those watching, finishing off with a high kick that made her go near vertical Zira would then burst into a run down the ramp, no patience and no pace, the ring was her home, and Huan was the one she was most excited to face and finally nothing was keeping them apart. Jumping onto the apron and leaping over the ropes Zira would smirk at the familiar face across from her. "Hehe long time no see Patch. Ready to finally take this L?" Zira called out to the woman with a nickname she had given her long ago before teasing her while walking to the center of the ring, eager to get this show on the word. Even if verbally.

Huan's smile widened as she saw Zira coming down the ramp, this was exciting, what she wouldn't give to have it be in the octagon like the old days... Maybe another time. When her opponent finally came face to face with her she walked to meet her in the centre and chuckled at her words. "Too long Stilts. I'll take that L if you can give it, would be a shame if you waited this long for nothing." She said, the second part in a challenging tone. Then she extended her hand to bump fists, then, still with a smile on her face she would not and back away to her corner, waiting for the bell.

"DING!"

As soon as it rang, Huan darted forward, first she would telegraph her movement left, switching just for a second to the right and just as they were about to meet spinning with a backick to the body followed by a continued spin into a tornado roundhouse to the side. The entire movement looked effortless, underlining that despite her break from fighting, Huan was still just as sharp as ever.

Hearing the return jab from Huan would cause Zira to smirk with even more excitement if such a thing seemed possible. Really she was just so happy to be in a ring with the woman again, even if it wasn't an octagon ring, but having the opportunity to finally face Huan was worth more than anything, certainly a bucket list item for her. Now that the bell had rung, things were finally getting started and as she approached Huan, fists up and ready to go Huan would be the one to start things off as she approached head on with what Zira thought to be a left leaning attack.

'Wait thats too easy.' Zira would think a moment later before the older woman turned to the right, laying into Zira with a kick! "Grrr!" Zira growled out from the impact, forced to take a few steps back before seeing Huan continue her movement with what seemed to be a follow up kick aimed for her side! "Hagh... Hagh.." Zira said as the kick connected... with her hands out, barely able to catch it, though the impact definitely was felt. "You haven't lost a step that's good." Zira said eagerly before stepping forward, hiking Huan's leg against her side before trying to take Huan off her feet and down to the mat where she would try and mount the woman before attempting to fire off some punches at her head!

Huan narrowed her eye, having her leg be caught after a kick from a full rotation was impressive, and not good news for her. Soon enough she was being taken down to the mat, with not enough balance to try anything fancy, she pushed off the mat with her other leg to wrap it around Zira's body to get her in her guard, one arm reaching to her neck to control the fall better and the other sending a swift elbow strike to the side of her head. Soon enough though she was pushed on the defensive as a series of strikes came her way and despite her tight guard, they still hurt.

She knew she had to get out of this position as fast as she could once one of the punches from Zira's right came down she would shift to the left, grabbing the forearm and shoulder of her foe and pushing them to the side and downwards towards the mat as she rotated around her body. Then extending Zira's arm to the side, Huan would lay one leg over her biceps and drag her wrist against her hip. Then she would reach around her body to pull and lock in an omoplata! "I'm just warming up!"

Already the style clash between Huan and Zira was beginning to become apparent. Huan was technical and graceful in all that she did, using precise movements with raw power to get elegant and inescapable holds or decisive knockouts. Zira though was the inverse. Brutish and aggressive, powering through defenses to gain an advantage with her fast and furious offense.. but also showing surprising technical ability as well when the situation called for it.

In this case despite getting the top position between her and Huan the Texan would find herself victim of Huan's excellent defensive strategy and guard, her arm being grabbed and pulled down, no doubt in position for an omoplata! Not that Zira would let herself get caught so easily though. Just before Huan could fully lock in the hold Zira would look up and try to slide behind, attempting to reach back and grab Huan's leg, attempting to roll them forward and reverse their positions as she tried to grab Huan's own arm, attempting a Re Omoplata escape to try and lock her opponent in the hold instead!

Most people would ignore their hand getting grabbed in this situation, hell, Huan might have done the same if not for the fact that she knew who she was up against and that given a chance Zira could pull a 180 on her in this position.

To counter that Huan would wrap both her legs around Zira's arm and lay over her back. As they started to roll she would put her free arm under her opponent's and pull with both hands to get free. Then the hand she pulled with would wrap around Zira's arm soon joined by her freed one so that when the roll was done Huan would have her opponent in a crucifix, from there she would shift Zira's arm under her armpit to free up the hand and start throwing elbows at her head.

Zira knew going into this match, no this fight, that Huan would be one of, if not her greatest challenge ever. Whether inside the octagon or the wrestling ring Huan was a technical master and an effective powerhouse that made the most of explosive power. As is the two were locked in a battle of proficiency, Huan reversing Zira's mount, only for Zira to reverse Huan, which then lead to Huan reversing Zira once again into a crucifix!

"Ngh!" Zira grunted out in pain, taking an elbow unguarded now that her limbs were locked up, making it hard for her to defend herself. But that was fine, despite her arms being trapped, Zira's legs were still free, enabling her to push her hips up and throw her legs back, essentially flipping over Huan to land on her feet behind Huan and forcefully pull her arms free from Huan's grasp! If she was successful in this Zira would forgo further technical grappling battles with Huan, in favor of shooting her leg forward a kick to Huan's side!

Seeing Zira's maneuver Huan couldn't help but be impressed, it took certain power and guys to try that given the risk for the shoulders, not to mention the flexibility to actually avoid any damage there. Still, it put her opponent in an advantageous position and before Huan could pop back up she felt an explosion of pain in her ribs "Gha!" She let out, rolling away from danger before kicking back to her feet.

"Not in a mood to hug it out, huh?" She said jokingly at a sudden change from grappling back to standing up striking. Then she would dart forward sending a combination of a jab, cross, and a left uppercut followed by a low kick to the side of Zira's thigh.

Technical combat was fun and all, but it was hardly Zira's go to in matches, she was as good as she needed to be in them to compete with women of Huan's level... Which made her pretty damn good, but her forte was and always be pure, full frontal striking battles. Something she already knew was about to kick off after landing the first solid attack of the match on Huan with that kick to the ribs.

Smirking as the woman got up and hit her with a taunt Zira would crack her neck in anticipation. "Hehe, nah I'd much rather duke it out." She shot back as she dodged and weaved Huan's first two blows before leaning back to avoid the uppercut, which in turn left her open to take the kick to her thigh.

"Ngh! Yeah thats what I'm talking about!" Zira said at first in pain before turning to excitement as she surged forward, opening with a big haymaker from above. But It was a fakeout, one that Zira would pull back from to spin on her heel, aiming a high roundhouse kick towards the side of Huan's head! Whether this hit or if Huan dodged however Zira would continue with the momentum, attempting to spin fully before shooting her other leg up for a follow up spinning back kick!
