History: Kelya was born in São Paulo to two working class background parents turned Olympic level volleyball players, which gave her a comfortable upbrining that still avoided being completely out of touch with the less fortunate. While her parents were certainly not antagonistic to her following athletic pursuits, they were very focused on ensuring that Kelya would get a good education along with professional qualifications. To both her own and her parents benefits, Kelya was academically inclined, particularly towards environmental science, and specifically regarding conservationism around the Amazon forest.
Perhaps she'd have been mocked as a 'tree hugger' as a child, were it not for the fact school bullies were afraid of her. From a very young age she had been taught both Capoeira and Brazilian jiu-jitsu from an uncle and frequently competed in martial arts competitions. In her teens she had managed to turn minor notablity as the daughter of olympians plus her martial arts successes into building up a considerable social media following, frequently plugging enviromental causes along the way.
During her time in university, she heard about LAW and figuring that she had an athletic prime to put to use, that she'd aim to join it after graduating. In the meanwhile, she'd get herself more familar with wrestling by participating in some wrestling promotions. After her graduation and before she could join LAW, she sustained a significant knee injury during a match with an experienced veteran wrestler that forced her to take months off. After she was ready to wrestle again, she'd have a rematch with the opponent that injured her knee. After her recovering knee was targeted, she decided repay her opponent in kind with a rope-hung leg breaker followed by a knee bar submission. She'd win the match, having gotten her revenge and prepared to move to Japan to join LAW.
