The Hayasakas exist as a subordinate family to one of the most powerful families in Japan and the world. So powerful that their total holdings equal in the tens of billions of dollars in each of the 6 human inhabited continents separately. Their power base in Japan alone is valued at over 100 billion. The Hayasakas' position as the head family's direct subordinate also grants them an excessive amount of wealth and status, but little power. As the Hayasakas' purpose for existing is to serve the head family. Literally, as maids, butlers, bodyguards, and the like. Enter Ai Hayasaka, born the same age as the head family's fourth child and first daughter, it was decided that Ai would be raised as the daughter's personal maid. The two were raised together for a short time as babies, and the master-servant relationship between the two, as well as Ai's occupation as a maid, was established at the bright young age of seven. Blatantly disregarding any and all child labor laws, but there was more than enough money involved for people to either not know or not care.
The children of the freakishly wealthy are very sheltered people. Thus while Ai and the head family's daughter were formally master and servant, in only truly having each other, their personal relationship became more similar to that of sisters. In short time, Ai proved herself exceedingly capable in all her maidly duties, becoming somebody who in her master's eyes was nigh infallible. Someone who could do it all and hardly break a sweat. Yet things changed on the precipice of the two's high school graduation. External pressure from a changing world that was more capable of digging up hidden dirt, as well as internal sabotage from the daughter herself, aided by allies including Ai, combined to collapse the family

Ai had a wide spectrum of duties as a maid that she had a wide spectrum of opinions on. But her favorite was one of her more unsung duties; acting as the final line of defense as her master's bodyguard. As with the rest of her duties, Ai was a highly competent fighter, as required to protect her master while Ai served her. And she loved it. So much so that it became a small problem, as Ai had gotten scolded multiple times for getting lost in her enjoyment. As well as getting antsy at times over how little she got to use those skills.
However, when Ai did get to use those combat skills, mostly in the efforts that took down her master's family, she found she couldn't enjoy it. Ai was fighting ruthless people who could and would kill without hesitation, and if Ai came up short, then she, her master, and all the people they cared about who were helping them would likely meet a grisly fate.
But when Ai finally found freedom, she was free to jump into combat sports as much as she pleased. Ai could live a life of fighting without stakes, and she wanted to have fun with it, which is what attracted her to LAW. While it was still a serious league, it was still much more focused on fun and spectacle than it's competitors. Ai frankly isn't interested in the constant grind and chasing titles, she just wants to throw down and have fun doing it.
As a result of this, Ai doesn't fight as hard or as seriously as she could. She was trained in neutralizing and eliminating threats as quickly and efficiently as possible, which isn't very conducive for being able to enjoy her fights. Instead, Ai comes of as rather playful in her style. Passing up more optimal or damaging options for something flashier, or even outright letting up on a foe who's down or on the ropes to avoid hurting them or keep a fun fight going. She also is willing to spring for more fun and gimmicky match types if they seem exciting. But Ai will never do a POW match. She's fine playing the maid as a gimmick, but Ai does not want to ever be forced back into a position where she might actually have to serve someone as a maid.

And if the throat is protected, then find and exploit the weakness created by them protecting their throat. Though funnily enough, it's actually not that hard to get Ai to try. If she believes her opponent wants to genuinely harm her and is capable of doing so, if her opponent is just enough of a bitch to suck the fun out of the fight and get Ai mad, or even if the opponent asks for Ai to try and wants it badly enough. After all, Ai wouldn't want to ruin the fight for opponents that want a foe who goes all out and pushes them.
