Most will never get to know Kaoru on a deeper level. However, some things are readily apparent regardless. For one, Kaoru's violent and sadistic streak is on full display while in the ring. At the same time, Kaoru does not seem to take things too seriously, and instead appears to simply have fun inflicting pain. She will even occasionally make quips, often in a wry manner.
Outside the ring, Kaoru is laid-back and easy-going. The trivialities of life do not seem to bother her as they pale in comparison to the hardship that she has gone through. Moreover, while not exactly "nice", she can be friendly towards people, especially her friends. And, when it comes to her rabbits, she can be caring and nurturing.

This backstory is a little dark, albeit not terribly dark. If you know enough to read between the lines, you can probably infer that Kaoru's mother suffered a very, very unpleasant fate. This backstory is a little darker than what I would default to nowadays, but I feel like it provides good justification for what I want this character to be: a dark, sadistic woman with a hatred of the yakuza.

Kaoru's mother was a free spirit. A wanderer. Born from a Cuban father and a Colombian mother, she never felt quite at home anywhere. Raised by a single mother in Colombia, the mixed-race woman did not feel like she belonged. To add to that, Kaoru's mother had a very turbulent relationship with her family. This culminated in Kaoru's mother leaving her family at the age of eighteen. From there, Kaoru's mother wandered across South America, Central America, and Caribbean America. She never stayed in one place for very long, and she often worked seedy jobs just to make ends meet, namely exotic dancing and prostitution.
However, her fortunes seemed to change when she met a seemingly well-off and attractive Spanish man. The man offered her an escape from her current life. He spoke of the life he had back home and even floated the possibility of marriage. Enamored with the man, Kaoru's mother ignored all the red flags and allowed the "relationship" to progress too quickly. However, shortly before the man was supposed to take Kaoru's mother back to Spain with him, Kaoru's mother revealed that she had gotten pregnant from him. This resulted in the man abruptly cutting off all contact, and Kaoru's mother never saw him again.
Kaoru, who was named Sofía at the time, was born in an alleyway among junkies and the homeless. Kaoru's mother did her best to provide for Kaoru, but the price of raising a child put an immense strain on Kaoru's mother financially. Over the next six years or so, Kaoru's mother wondered many times if she should just give up her daughter to an orphanage. But Kaoru's mother was stubborn, and she loved her daughter too much.
Such determination did little to allay the suffering of both Kaoru and her mother. Nonetheless, Kaoru could at least sense the love that her mother had towards her. To the best of her ability, Kaoru tried to help her mother. But even that was not enough. By the time that Kaoru was six years old, both her and her mother were in dire straits.
Then, as if a guardian angel were providing providence, a Colombian man working as a talent scout offered to get Kaoru's mother a job as a model abroad in Japan. Wanting a better life, Kaoru's mother accepted and traveled to Japan. Unbeknownst to the talent agent however, Kaoru's mother surreptitiously brought her daughter Kaoru along in her carry-on luggage.
A short while after arriving in Japan, an unfortunate series of events unfolded which left Kaoru alone on the streets—Kaoru never saw her mother again. While Kaoru was too young to fully understand what had happened, she figured out that the men who took her mother were yakuza and that they were keeping her mother against her will. Kaoru tried her hardest to find her mother, but without any clue as to where her mother was aside from the name of the yakuza group who trafficked her mother, Kaoru was unsuccessful. The lack of success left Kaoru bitter, and within her heart, a strong hatred of the yakuza brewed.
The rest of Kaoru's childhood years were a blur to her. But somehow, she managed to get some sense of normalcy in her life. Being so young when she got to Japan, Kaoru managed to assimilate nicely, learning both the language and culture of Japan while also adopting a Japanese name: Kaoru Kazuma. However, due to her foreign appearance, other children often tried to pick on Kaoru. Kaoru quickly learned to shut her antagonists down using a universally understood language: violence.
