Ryuko vs. Mary: Apex Qualifier

Mary was proving to be far tougher than Ryuko anticipated as she hit the elbow drop and was rising but Mary was rising as well! Ryuko reached out to grab her by the hair and took a hard headbutt to the abdomen making her double over! "UGH!" Ryuko groaned as she was suddenly folded over and on her shoulders against the mat!

"ONE!"

"TWO!"

Ryuko was surprised and as the two count hit the mat she thrust outward with all the strength she could muster, trying to launch Mary away. "Lucky.... you got lucky!" Ryuko hissed as she got back up to her feet.

“I have simply come prepared, Ms. Ryuko. You are a serious fighter and I would’ve been foolish to not take you seriously. Heck, I was even thinking of not even showing up at first. However, I won’t be scared even if I lose this match. You want to qualify for Apex? That’s a privilege to earn!” Mary declared.

Mary then tried running in to get a Lariat in on Ryuko to get her down on the mat. If that worked, Mary would get down to lock Ryuko in a headlock tightening the grip on the neck.

Ryuko was furious, tired of this woman managing to have held her off so well. The former Wrestle Angel saw Mary charging and moved to the side, dropping and kicking her legs out. She tried to counter the running lariat into a drop toe hold to stop her surge of offense. Ryuko knew that this pivotal point of the match was key. Whomever had momentum at this juncture was going to put themself in a great position to win the match, Ryuko was determined that she would be that woman.

Mary ran over to Ryuko, but the ace wrestler was on the case as she dropped down quick tripping Mary up on her hands and knees. Mary managed to keep herself from face planting as she looked back up at Ryuko wondering what her next move to her would be. She needed to be ready in order to counter so she valued cautious planning over guns blazing.

Ryuko got up and was going for effective over style at this point. she grabbed the hair of Mary with her left hand and then balled her right fist looking to smash Mary with hard shots to the face! "You think you are so smart huh? Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face!" Ryuko said as she went about trying to smash the skull of Mary!

Mary found herself gasping as Ryuko yanked on her hair as the referee gave a stern warning to Ryuko about that rule. Regardless, Mary saw the fist coming in and yelled in pain as she went back. More shots came in and Mary found herself being punched back into the ropes. The science teacher kept getting punched in the face as her arms hooked on the ropes. Mary wasn’t fast enough for Ryuko and now she was paying the price for it!

The referee would step in to break it up and allow Mary some leeway, but the science teacher needed a short breather to get air back in her lungs. However, Ryuko only loomed feet away and had time to take advantage of Mary’s vulnerable state!

Ryuko grabbed Mary's arm and twist her torso sending Mary running across the ring! As Mary bounced off the ropes Ryuko ran right at her looking to bulldoze into her with a spear! If she was successful Ryuko would immediately go for the cover hoping the surprise impact and flooring of the grappler would keep her down on the mat flat on her back.

Mary welcomed the break from Ryuko, but it only seemed to last ten seconds as Ryuko was back on her opponent quickly. Ryuko grabbed her arm throwing her straight into the ropes as Mary’s back slingshot off them. Ryuko came at Mary’s waist with a crushing Spear sending the older rookie down on her back and her legs springing up in the air before flopping back down on the canvas! Ryuko hooked both legs as the referee got down to count.

“1! 2!”

The ref counted, but Mary pushes up just before the final count and then pushed Ryuko away from her crawling to get away going to duck outside!

Ryuko felt Mary push her and watched Mary run away to the outside..... again. Ryuko this time stood tall in the ring and pointed to Mary. "Look! She is trying to run away like a coward! She runs and then uses sneak attacks but can't wrestle head-to-head! Okay my little foreign friend if you want to run and get counted out fine!" Ryuko said as she held her around out, strutting around the ring while keeping an eye on Mary. Once Mary came back in the ring Ryuko would pounce on her and make her pay for her cowardice.

Ryuko talked down at Mary and called her a coward, but only a true novice would be overwhelmed by the sheer force that Ryuko was bringing upon her foes. Mary had to escape as the referee counted her out reaching the number 5 as Mary thought back on her chances in this particular match. She knew she couldn’t really win. It was clear Ryuko was going to unleash more punishment the moment she got into the ring. There was no way Mary could overcome Ryuko at this rate and become one of the lucky ones to have won their encounter.

Mary had to change Ryuko’s perspective of her and this was her chance to prove herself. Ryuko did bring up a point that she was just cowering and Mary still had fears about facing a legit professional in the ring. However, if she backed down now, her credibility would shoot further down the totem pole. Her career as a teacher and educator would be affected heavily as well. Would her students even cheer her? Would anyone on the indies see her as competition? She had to correct this. Even if it meant taking a beating to prove something. Mary slid in at the count of 8 and breathed a deep breath putting her fists up letting that say all she wanted to say. Mary was ready for Ryuko, win or lose.
