Match Type: Smother Match
The win condition is to KO your opponent or force them to submit via a Smother move of some kind.
Standard rules apply. DQs are on, Count-Outs are on, the Smother KO must occur in the ring, and the opponent must be rendered fully unconscious via a Smother or tap out during a Smother. Any pinfalls, or submission tap-outs, or physical knockouts will not be counted.

Renee was gearing up to head backstage into the locker room. She moved amidst the frantic staff, all of which were running around to keep LAW's facilities and scheduling tight and smooth-running, it was nice to see that the crew here took their jobs fairly seriously, this meant that Renee would have to do her utmost to shine with the opportunity they were giving her. An idol was only as good as her support structure and with these people handling her music and lighting and other special effects, she was putting a LOT of faith in them to make her presentation look good. However, she didn't worry at all...she BELIEVED that these people could do their jobs excellently. After all, LAW was meant for the best of the best in ALL categories, not just wrestling talent. Renee carried a large smile upon her face as she made her way through, making it to the locker room in one piece despite the chaos of all the moving parts of the massive machine that was LAW's infrastructure. Nearly a few bumps here and there but she was unscathed and still looking as beautiful as ever. She was by herself, all alone at the moment. She set her gear bag down and just stood against the lockers for a moment, taking it all in...it was a lot.

"My first match here...how exciting!!!" She exclaimed to herself. "My heart's moving at bazillion-miles-a-minute, I can hardly contain myself!!! THIS IS JUST SO AMAZING!!! I'm really here...I'M REALLY HERE!!!!" She squealed. "This is the start of something great!! My legacy in the making!! Oh-I-wonder-what-my-opponent-is-gonna-be-like-will-she-be-cool-and-laid-back-or-like-edgy-and-mean. Is-she-gonna-be-a-new-wrestler-like-me-or-maybe-she'll-be-a-veteran!!! That'd-be-so-cool-to-face-an-experienced-wrestler-I-wonder-if-she'll-be-a-face-or-a-heel-but-wait-wouldn't-that-mean-she'd-be-edgy-and-mean-like-I-said-before-or-maybe-her-character-will-just-be-edgy-and-mean-and-....and--...Dang it!!! I started to ramble on all over again. Now I'm wasting precious time!!! I don't wanna keep those very nice staff people waiting on me. There's absolutely ZERO time to waste starting NOW, get it together Winters!!" She said, smacking herself in the face to gain some focus and mentally ready herself.

She slipped into her ring gear, making sure that every detail was prim and proper, an idol couldn't mess up and have a wardrobe malfunction, THAT'D be more embarrassing than losing...or would it? Oh well, Renee would never know as she didn't plan on having a malfunction OR losing tonight. With a confident grin on her face, she moved out toward the arena. She got the cue from the technician staff and she heard her theme song starting up, a personal favorite of hers that carried the upbeat attitude an idol should ALWAYS have, while being a little unique in its presentation as it differed from the usual pop-style most idols had, fitting since Renee desired to stand out as a trailblazer in her field.

"...Entering the ring first, hailing from Paris, France...making her debut, and bringing a spectacularly dazzling performance to the grand stage of LAW guaranteed to send CHILLS down your spine...standing at 5'9 and weighing in at 126 lbs...give it up for Renee Winters!!! THE WINTER FANTASY!!!"


She emerged into the light and struck a brilliant pose at the top of the ramp, everything clicked into place as the idol was dropped right into the thick of it...but she wasn't scared...in fact, she was in her element. "THANK YOU AND HELLO EVERYONE!!! IT'S A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU ALL!!!" She said, waving and blowing kisses to the audience which clapped and cheered for her, her sunshiny demeanor betrayed her ring name, she was pleasant and warm as the rays of the sun, and she radiated nothing but pure happiness as she danced down to the ring, being sure to take a few selfies and play with the crowd, trying to earn their love, adoration, and attention before she would fight for their respect soon after. She climbed up to the apron and stood atop it, smiling wide.

"PREPARE TO BE LEFT FROZEN IN AWE BY A PERFORMANCE, UNLIKE ANYTHING YOU'VE EVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE...BEHOLD, THE REALEST FANTASY YOU'LL EVER WITNESS!!!" She said aloud, vocalizing her passion with earth-shaking amounts of swagger and confidence but carrying a gentle and cool cadence in her voice the entire time. This was the effort being shown by a performer who had been building up to this moment for her entire life, piece by piece. She entered the ring, slipping between the middle and topmost rope, traipsing about across the canvas before striking one last pose just before she reached her corner, now awaiting the arrival of her opponent...a strangely named woman by the name of...Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom.

As the anthill that called itself LAW backstage services rushed through its clockwork, the hive failed to note the absence of one of its lieutenants: Greg Karagi, AV Technician. While his peers prepared for the sparkling entrance of a dazzling fantasy, he stood party to fey court.

”So when the faerie flame sparkles the form o’ the rose, that’s when you cut in.”

“Uh huh. And Shimmerlace. I get the parking spot how long this time?”

”A month.”

“...Babe. Sweetheart. It was ‘two weeks’ a second ago and after that? A ‘fortnite.’ I had to Google was a fortnite was. You want to guess what the first result said?”

”First. Dumbo. I’d venture that’s on account of you misspelling fortnight. Second, fuckin’… Write it down, if you’re so worried. Enforcing agreements is a you job, sweetie.”

“Mmhm. Two months then.”

”And the signal…?”

“Faerie Flame. Form of the rose. Total stupidity right now...but I’m sure ‘I’ll know it when I see it,’ right?”

The Maître sipped her tea from fine, blue-edged china—a bit of finery as out of keeping with the backstage cardboard as the rest of her charcoal lace getup. ”That you will, boy. That you will.”

Renee’s enthusiasm sparkled like champagne—lighting herself but also catching, from the bloke in the front to the young couple in the back. Grins. Rosy cheeks. Practically Christmas. From backstage, your girl could almost feel the audience gathering round behind this droplet of crystal sunshine, ready to cheer her straight through the finish line.

The few in the audience who followed Shimmerlace would have expected a similarly warm, springtime performance. There’d ring out songs of rabbits and deep, twisted tunnels, then would come sliding the fairy herself with a puff of roseate smoke, Cheshire grins all around.

What they got instead was dark. What they heard was howling of wind. Snowflakes, thick as moths, fluttered on entrance-side chill.

”A fantasy, be ye?” A voice cut over the speakers, and as it rolled over the audience, the lights cut still darker—except for one bright spotlight at the edge of the entrance-way, which cut a white swathe through the thickening snowflake curtain. ”Aye, a dazzling fantasy even—friendly and warm as a wee teddy bear in Santa’s workshop.”

The wind whistled louder, higher, like a ghost whispering its torment through snow-capped woods. Fog plumed onto the runway. ”Well know this, wain: The glamour you toy with is the domain of the Winter Court. And we are not a child’s winter. We are the barren winter, the hungry winter, the dark and graspin’ winter. And those who try to take what is ours will be cut with bone-piercing cold.”

Through the fog, a shape emerged. A woman. She grasped the bottom rope and pulled herself into the ring.

And all at once—silence. The woman smiled. Then she curtsied.

”Shiverlace Frostyblossom. At your service.”

Renee was patiently awaiting in the corner but then, things began to take a turn down a dark road of frozen, ominous proportions...The howls of wind rolled in, sharp and loud like a pack of voracious and vicious wolves looking to devour their next meal to temper their ever-unquenchable thirst for bloodshed, and insatiable hunger for sustenance. It sent chills down the spine of all who heard it, it was as if they were caught amid a blizzard, the mind being overrun by the sound as it played tricks on the audience, causing them to feel a faux sense of cold. However, the howling winds were not all that was brought to the arena as a chilling fog would roll through down to the ring as snow began to fall along the stage, wrapping the arena in the frigid grasp of the incoming figure who entered the scene in a display that all spectators too frozen with shock and amazement to move, all except for the idol who stood tall in the ring, her eyes went blank as she looked at the woman, her brain firing on all cylinders as she began to process what exactly was going on...

The theatre-loving, spectacle-appreciating entertainer within the young Frenchwoman was going ballistic. At that moment, time froze completely as the inner machinations of Renee's mind came to a screeching halt to properly focus every brain cell she had to spare on this glorious display of pure, theatrical genius. As her eyes widened, she found herself overcome with such emotion...what a moving performance!!! So refined, so skilled. It left Renee feeling enthralled with this character and their motivation, she was utterly ecstatic, teeming with an explosive amount of joy and excitement as she realized what was going on. The fancy entrance, the swapped name, the wintery attire, the specialized manner and cadence of speech...like Renee, this Shimmerlace, no Shiverlace was a PERFORMER. Never had she ever expected a debut match like this for herself...but here in LAW, on the grandest stages of them all?! Only here would she be able to properly shine, and here was a golden opportunity staring her in the eyes with an icy-cold gaze.

About a single second later in real-time, things started to move after Renee spent seemingly an eternity within her mind gushing over how amazing this match was starting. In her mind, she prepared a fitting response after taking a very long time to internally digest, process, and faun over the awe-inspiring character of 'Shiverlace'...such a brilliant performance MUST be met with an equal, if not superior, response. Years of theatre practice, years of ballet, years of idol work, and years of pro-wrestling prepared her for this very moment...

And-....action~


"Shiverlace Frostyblossom...A direct attendant of the Winter Court, I presume? My, to come face-to-face with you...It is, without a doubt, a proper honor to be in the presence of such an esteemed guest in the frigid arena." She said, returning the curtsy as proper manners would dictate, her voice carried a sense of sounding surprised at first before offering proper respects to Shiver's character, which appeared regal and of a high-standing position. So far the crowd was confused but thoroughly captured by the dramatics being thrown about between the two. It wasn't often that these matches came with stage performances beforehand. "Your wintry aura brings a noticeable shift in the atmosphere, what was once warm is now completely erased, replaced by a bitter, numbing chill. This sensation is one I know all too well, but to feel it to this extent...a magnificent feeling, but I take it that this is merely a fraction of the Winter Court's true capabilities?" She said, taking a stand as she stood more prominently, asserting herself.

"Make no mistake spirit of the numbing, desolate, and grisly cold...I am no child. I command a force of cold which I call my own, for I am an idol of all things winter and snowy. I carry with me, a mystical cold front that leaves all who bear witness to it breathless and stricken with a sense of astonishment that leaves them frozen over with immense reverence. Those who draw their eyes upon me will be enthralled by my movements, bewitched by my words, and enraptured by my presence."

"However, you appear before me, insinuating that I encroach upon your realm, your territory, your...winter. But what say you, spirit? Should I not yield to you and your words now, do you intend to force me into submission? I shall tell you this, I have no intention of prostrating myself before you, throwing myself down at your feet in an attempt to beg for forgiveness and mercy, nor do I have any qualms over staking my claim and defending it through more...physical means." She said, taking a more dominant stance of defiance over complacency. "What say you...Shiverlace?"

What say I?

At the start of Renee’s speech, Shiverlace had perched herself above, frosty light among the cold stars. She sat on the ringpost, legs crossed, fist on chin. The sprite conjured a blood-red apple. Crunch. She chewed, nodding as the mortal offered her respects. Respect—a rare gift indeed between these ropes, as Shiver had seen many a time in her more springtime incarnations.

But the wintry spirit’s eyes narrowed as the Dazzling Winter Fantasy continued, frown creeping like windowsill frost as Renee reached her talk about staking a claim.

This beacon of beauty had every right—a spirit as bright as she? She dripped with the elegance of a snowflake’s dance, with tectonic power of a windswept frozen lake, and could launch the words to cut like shards of ice. Yes, the Winter Court might indeed treasure such a scion. But as the Highlander would have it: There can only be one.

Another spin of the hand, apple gone in a spray of sleeve-emergent mist, and Winter’s Knight hopped to the mat. ”What…say I?” Shiver steepled her fingers. A smile quirked, she glanced rightward, out of the ring.

DING…

With a puff of snow from her coattails, Shiver charged, quick as a blizzard gust.

...DING…

A pivot on a heel, a spin, and Shiverlace arched a boot at her rival’s chin. ”I say let’s crack some fuckin’ ice!”

...DING!

In a lovely display of both winter-themed theatrics and mesmerizing wordplay, the wintry spirit known as Shiverlace had entirely captured Renee's heart as she reacted brilliantly to the idol's in-character provocation. Renee couldn't have done it better herself, acting all of this out without a script was truly a breathtaking, heart-racing, mind-challenging experience. The Winter Fantasy's brain was firing on all cylinders as her heart pounded in her chest with an intense level of enthusiasm. She was beyond prepared to take this all the way and deliver unto this crowd a performance within the confines of LAW's squared circle, unlike anything they had ever seen before.

...and it all began with a viciously icy gaze from Shiverlace as she stared Renee down, appearing as if she was not only studying her soon-to-be opponent but also looking down on her in general. Renee could feel all of the eyes on her, but their collective gaze only sought to boost her immersion. With the wind howling over the loudspeakers and the snow particles flowing throughout the air, it made Renee feel as if Shiver had invited the Winter Court to peer into their little meeting to watch over the altercation. The Frenchwoman was using the audience's eyes to give life to this fictional group of desolate, frigid, wintry beings of high command and power. Renee felt as if every action she made was being judged, and Shiver was serving as the executioner should things go awry. With nowhere to run and her stake already being claimed, the gauntlet had been thrown down and the challenge issued...with her pride and the power of the Winter Court on the line, Shiver had accepted with an intriguing response, a dazzling display of her 'winter magic', a slightly vulgar statement-...


...And a surprise Big Boot aimed RIGHT for the Winter Fantasy's jaw.

Renee's eyes widened, she had spotted the kick coming from a mile away, she had great reaction time after all. However, instead of outright dodging the attack she had worked out a myriad of scenarios in her head, playing different scenes out based on her response to the attack as the bell rang. Should she take it? It'd make Shiver seem conniving but strong, especially if Renee played up the damage...or, should block it with a kick of her own?! Yes...YES OF COURSE!!!! If she blocked it and added a little 'pizzazz' to it, it'd CERTAINLY stir the crowd. She could show Shiver off as a strong fighter while making herself seem like a worthy contender, but without sacrificing anyone's reputation, leaving the winner of this match a mystery, which would make the crowd more and more invested to see how things would play out...oh the chocolate-skinned idol was practically a GENIUS when it came to this kind of stuff. With a swift pivot and quick raise of her leg, Renee scouted the incoming kick and denied it of its momentum with her own kick, stopping Shiver's leg in its track and slapping her leg at JUST the right time to make a loud CRACKLING sound, like something akin to rippling thunder...she had seen other wrestler's and movie-based martial artists performing it before in order to drum up the effect of a kick with a hard-hitting sound effect to play the audience's minds...now it was just up to Shiver to work her own magic and make the moment really POP.

The impact of leg on leg stunned the wintry sprite—but that thunder. That crack like a fissure down a frozen creek, unnatural as a hag’s keen, set her body back in motion. The first sign of her opponent’s mystic craft had revealed itself.

As their legs disconnected and dropped back to the mat, a burst of white powder exploded between them. Snow! The ice formed a cloud from the site of dark Beauty’s leg against pale warblit’s kick, glittering in the spotlight before it cascaded to the mat.

Low went the ice-cropped sprite’s head as she began to stalk about the challenger. Quick as lime, are you? Her movements followed a narrowing circumference, a tightening noose as she kept her body low and twitch-tight, arms out like a bear’s as she kept watch for a path to this woman’s delicate core.

If the challenger failed to present any interruption, then after a short space Shiverlace’s predatory circle would have closed to a short space. Perhaps three paces long. Then she’d make a dive. A grab. An attempt at wrapping her arms about the hips, the trunk of this Fantasy in a gambit to bring her flat on the mat between the Winter Knight’s icy claws!

The results from the clashing legs created a sparkling, hazy mass of snowy white powder upon the two kicks connecting in a superbly timed impact. Thanks to the wintry sprite's ingenuity, both fighters were already beginning to put on quite a show. Many of the audience focused their eyes to see what had just happened. It almost seemed mythical in presentation alone. Now that the two wintery wrestlers had the attention of the masses, it was time to retain said focus with an encore. They had to show the onlookers that these were no mere parlor tricks. These were the skills of two of the finest embodiments of Winter and all its cold, dazzling, and chilling nature on display.

Shiverlace continued to spiral around, closing the gap slowly and methodically. She crept forward like growing frost on a window pane, slowly encompassing more and more territory, imposing upon the Winter Fantasy with her figure. Just a short moment later, the dark-skinned Frenchwoman would be met with a terrifyingly quick pounce, but she remained on guard. Renee pivots herself, trying to line her body and limbs up accordingly as she fends off Shiver's incoming assault. The Winter Court's envoy attempts to tackle the Fantasy down to the canvas. Shiver succeeded in her efforts to do so, but Renee, however, was prepared...And with a quick pump of her trained legs, she would send the frosty spirit over her body with a Monkey Flip, using the momentum from their tumble to the floor to provide some extra force to launch Shiver off of her body.
