Lyra Vs. JJ: Something To Prove (Apex Qualifier)

Well that didn't work out.... JJ stumbled and felt herself taken down to the mat on her back with her left arm yanked. She knew what was coming and that it would hurt, but she also remembered what someone said to do if stuck in an armbar. Roll in to it. JJ grunted and used her legs to roll in while grabbing her left hand with her right, pulling back to alleviate the pressure. She she could lean in enough she hoped to prevent anything nastier from being locked in while pressing Lyra down to the mat on her shoulders which would technically pin her. However if she failed she would be caught in a very painful crossface, something she didn't want whatsoever!

Lyra broke away from JJ in order to prevent a pin as she limped back to her feet and getting over to a corner. JJ even managed to get herself free from that and Lyra knew right away she was dealing with the full deck of cards. She hadn’t heard much about JJ, but knew the woman could be a handful to deal with. She circled JJ and kept her distance not wanting to run into anything with her left leg the way it was.

JJ circled and moved in with her hands high as she appeared ready to grapple. She kept noticing that leg and was going to target it again. As she lunged in with a high feint she would go low and grab that leg pulling it out before rolling herself over, sending Lyra to the mat with a dragon screw!

Lyra grabbed JJ’s hands in a test of strength trying to push back on the cocky wrestler to get some advantage. However, JJ would move down to grab Lyra’s injured leg as Lyra felt her balance shift. JJ dropped down in a dragon screw and twisted the leg and brought Lyra down on her back. Lyra held her leg as she breathed in heavily and screamed in pain. Lyra tried to crawl, but she couldn’t with her leg keeping her on her back.

Lyra was down and crawling, leaving JJ behind her. JJ had an idea, and one that was so simple that it had to work! She got up, grabbing Lyra by the ankles to drag her to the center of the ring. JJ wanted to roll Lyra over and lock in a leg lock on that injured leg she targeted with the dragon screw! If Lyra had a weakness JJ was going to aim for it. She wasn't dumb she had a big bullseye to aim for so she was going to shoot for it every chance she had.

Lyra got her left leg grabbed as she was crying out in pain when JJ locked her in the leg lock. Lyra had nowhere to go and was very tempted to tap out now to not risk further injury to her leg. The referee got down near her and asked if she wanted to give it up. Lyra dug her head into the mat and really thought over her options as the pain increased a bit higher rapidly shooting down her tolerance to it. If Lyra gave up, this would be a poor showing even if it got her into Apex. If she didn’t, this would further hurt her leg and she wouldn’t be able to do much else even if she prolonged in the hold. She didn’t have much time or options and it seemed the crowd were wondering if JJ had an easy victory. Lyra tried turning around on her hands to spring up and capture JJ in a quick inside cradle pin!

Lyra was falloff surprises as JJ was about to discover as she frantically shifted, adjusting position to catch JJ off guard! JJ was stuck against the mat and pinned but the fresh JJ kicked out at the one count, thrusting her way free. "Okay... if that is how you want to do it lets go!" JJ said as she got up trying to pounce on Lyra. JJ was going to try to hit Lyra before she was fully standing with a dropkick attempting to send her right back down to the canvas again.

Even if the inside cradle pin was bound for failure, it gave Lyra an escape route so she could save her leg. Trying to stand would be another challenge as Lyra couldn’t put much weight on it and the damage had already been done. Lyra held her leg standing up and limped a little, but JJ had her already scouted and to deal with. JJ came in with a Running Dropkick sending Lyra back down on the mat as she tried to get into the ropes. Lyra would set herself on the apron for the meantime hopefully giving herself a shelter to where JJ couldn’t do too much if she kept low.

JJ saw Lyra rolling for the ropes and trying to climb up to her feet. If she thought she was safe there JJ was happy to prove her entirely wrong! JJ ran at her looking to lower her shoulder and bulldoze into Lyra, launching her off the apron for a hard landing on the outside of the ring!

Lyra got back to her feet on the apron, but her troubles only continued to get worse as JJ shoulder barged her off the apron! Lyra went to hit the guardrail and went down on the mats outside. The fortune teller was at a horrible disadvantage with her left leg playing a hinderance to her ability to get going in this match. She had to find some way around this and fast before JJ finished what Helena started and put her out of action. Helena had made this a worst two weeks for Lyra first by throwing her out of the ring for a fair victory and now JJ had full strength while Lyra had to battle limps. Lyra had to escape and she only thought of finding shelter under the ring to buy her some time.
