Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
"He and I adopted them for the same reasons. My boxing is for fighting those who won't let me grapple with them. Geun said that you could help me with that too.---Thank you."
Senji elected to omit some of the more unorthodox moves such as the one-inch punch. He was strong enough to where it could be effective. However, it hadn't come up as needed. Plus, Senji needed to be careful where he shot physically so that he wouldn't disturb an opponent's heart if he succeeded in piercing their defense. Concerning the ground game, it was solid enough given that he had not as many years to refine it. That's another justification for as to why Huan was the master.
"About what you said about Hiroyuki, he hasn't formally competed for a small number of years. From when I...fought him last...he hasn't gotten weaker."
Senji would need to catch up to his older brother. Both in technical and physical prowess. He was a belt higher and had more hand and leg versatility. Still, Hiroyuki thought that Senji was outright more dedicated and tenacious than Hiro could bring himself to be.
Her notion about helping them both piqued his interest. Might as well clarify to make sure. Senji would not mind that. They'd both be growing together in the end.
"---You want me to bring him for training?"

"If he wants to, I won't have you drag him in by force. I think it would be a waste not to teach you more when it comes to strikes, it is what I'm known for, might as well share. Also, it can be useful to complement grappling, not only as a substitute."
Huan was so far mostly focusing on Senji's preferred style in their training, there were some strikes there but she didn't want them to be the focus before. Of course, it had limitations, full speed was out of the question, she would have to be more cautious with it not to hurt anybody. It wouldn't be a problem but she knew what could happen if she slipped so it still sat in her mind nonetheless.
"Also full ground work, with your tendencies, fights will get down on the mats so sharpening it with some strikes would be good, can create nice openings even if you don't want to commit to pummeling someone."

"Yeah. You can have Geun come too. I had something I wanted to do with her, so I can...er...yeah, just take care of it there. The nurses and the doctors 'may' let me out in several days to recuperate on my own."
Theoretically, Senji could leave today if he wished to. They couldn't keep him here if he wanted to go but they'd have him sign forms for it. Senji had only predicted he'd be ready in a few days or by next week. Oh right. He needed to give Huan his number too for future reference. He did not have his phone on him due to it being left in the room he was allowed to stay in within LAW itself aside from his home outside the premises.
After this, Senji leaned towards her to divulge his phone number. He then leaned back to take some deep breaths and listen to whatever other important elements Huan needed to say, following that action.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
Huan raised an eyebrow upon hearing what Senji said. "I would prefer if you wait for a little before jumping into sparing again. At least until that wound on your back is mostly closed. Until then I have prepared a workout plan for you, and some pointers on diet and such.' She said producing a notebook from her toad bag and setting it on a bedside table. "Your injuries aren't that bad so don't try to do something stupid to make them worse. I'm not running anywhere, we'll have time to train."
It might seem like she was overly cautious but she saw fighters end their careers by getting back to the sport too quickly. One of her opponents back in her MMA days had ligaments in her knee torn, with current medicine she should have been back to normal, with no side effects but she got back in the octagon too quickly and it ended up in her injured tissue tearing clean, she was lucky to walk without needing support after but sports were no go. The injuries Senji suffered wouldn't have that dramatic effects if something went wrong but it could still prolong his recovery, which she was sure the both would rather avoid.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
Senji considered her point. Yeah, it'd probably be better for him to stay longer. He wasn't an expert though, just had given a general estimate. He definitely wasn't regenerating all that damage within the day. Senji, at seeing a toad-shaped bag, found his funny bone tickled. It marked itself in the form of a warm snicker he attempted to hide underneath his breath. It wasn't very funny on its own, but combined with HUAN marked the event as fairly amusing. After she set the notebook down, Senji reached across with a minor grunt as his fingers wrapped around the hardback notebook.
From what he surmised, Senji had selections of smaller irritations all across his arms which was why bandages were needed to protect them from the outside elements. It did hurt to move them though, but he took things slowly as to mitigate the pain. Senji leaned back after grabbing it before flipping to the first page. He dispersed his attention into the handwritten pages within. After all, a strong mind was what controlled a powerful body. Usually, while he absolutely could slaughtered a good ol' American burger any day of the week, he had to refrain from frequent indulgence. Being one of those health nuts didn't strike him as attractive either, so he chose to stick to something in the middle.
"How have...you been doing, Huan?", He lifted his eyes from the pages to address the other fighter.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
Getting no argument on what she said was certainly welcome. His question however caught her off guard, she had to think for a moment, a lot was happening recently, only good things so far but she found herself caught in the stream of events, just flawing along, not in an unpleasant way mind you, she just didn't think to question it for a bit.
"I've been well, I'm still getting used to wrestling, it's certainly different from what I'm used to. But I keep getting scheduled for more fights so I think the audience likes me. Am making some new friends too." "friends", well, it was probably better to leave it at that, people at law were certainly more open than most but details of some of her encounters were something most people would not find appropriate to talk about.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
"I'm happy that you're doing great, then. I didn't want to put you in a gloomy mood.---I don't want you to be put under the impression that you're my 'mommy' either."
He said this with a clear, uncomfortable drawl. He did say that to emphasize his point. The word was clearly foreign on his tongue unlike other denotations of maternal addressing. It'd be a little out of the depths to start talking about certain encounters too. That'd probably make Senji mentally stutter. His 'cherry' had not been popped yet but Senji, as established, wasn't idiotic to an extreme extent. Though that didn't stop him from being a victim of being teased at his own detriment and for Huan and Geun's enjoyment. At the mention of wrestling, he began to passively ponder about his previous spars and lessons with Huan. Granted, Huan had a style of showing and not telling. The insane Triangles and Ezekiels attested to that. Geun did say she had Huan beat in most other submissions when he complimented the constricting legs that had sapped the fight away from him in seconds. He was getting better even if he was learning instead of winning though. Senji should probably work on more escapes in the future training sessions. The fundamental technique of performing a push to keep distance was always useful.
Shrimping out was a good tactic although Huan, Bast, or Geun hadn't put him in side control. It, oftentimes, ended up with him in their guard and defending attacks from there. Going all-out for a spar as if was a match was definitely missing the point, another reason why he elected to take it easier this time around. He liked using it to experiment without the stipulations present in an actual match. Slamming had not been a bad idea either. Huan had to perform a difficult adjustment to keep the pressure on for one of her first Triangle attempts. For a striker, she was quite good at neck-based submissions as he'd found. He preferred defending those instead of joint locks too. Senji returned to the pages amid his thoughts, his eyes scanning them sentence by sentence to go over her plan/advice. Obviously, Takijima kept an ear out in case Huan had something to add.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
Huan chuckled at hearing Senji's words, for a moment she grind, making it clear she had a quip ready for that but she decided to speer her young ward this time.
"You are not putting me in a gloomy mood, I just haven't thought about recent happenings for real, had to gather my thoughts. Though it's hard for me not to get worried, you are my student, after all, I'd rather want to see you outside of the hospital."
Seeing anyone she knew in a hospital bed was certainly not the most pleasant thing in the world. Luckily it was a rare occasion but from what she saw of Senji so far it might be more frequent than she would like, that is unless he would learn from this.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
"Well---If I had the choice---I would not want to fight Bast again now. The least I can do is get buff before that. She was so tall..."
Senji reminded himself of her height and figure in particular in an airy, light tone of voice. Hiroyuki was 6 feet flat and she even passed him by a few inches. She did not look like she was doping for gains, as far as he knew, so he inferred it was simply a blend of work over time and genetics. That longer reach was definitely trouble, although he did guard most of her hits that weren't helped along by outside forces. Her takedowns and throws were insane. He wasn't caught completely off guard since he saw her use a throw on Hiroyuki. However, the styles she used were analyzed by him to be BJJ, Judo, and perhaps Muay Thai?
Maybe he should try to train with her eventually to improve himself and since he was curious about Bast to an extent. That'd be after his body was either fully recovered or during it. Even then, Senji desired to guide her towards soft exercises so she wouldn't hurt him and prolong any recovery he needed to do. The slow release to minimize his pain in that Heaven's Wrath move was oddly considerate of her. Huan's expertise was generally concerned around Lethwei, that damned roundhouse to the stomach had been nightmarish, and a variety of chokeholds that she put him in time and time again. He didn't have much of an issue with that. He was learning and she did not want to cripple him at the end of the day. He enjoyed that Lei knew what she was doing as to avoid making a mistake too. Combined with her spoken skill assuming it wasn't exaggerated, he thought she'd earned her title from what he was hearing of her.
Senji figured, at that, that it'd be a fine idea to venture online and watch her matches if he could find any.

Re: Exit, Pursued by a Memory (For ThatPolishDude)
"Well, most sports wouldn't let the two of us fight due to weight difference, let alone Bast. She has to have some seriously crazy genetics to be that big without help. But then again, wrestling lets people fight regardless of weight."
She commented, that most male fighters weren't even close to the size Bast sported, there were ways to make up for the size difference but it was always an uphill battle when your oponent was larger.
"Range will always be a problem, no way around that."
