Fight The LAW

Unread post by winner3 »

Hello, everyone! It's that time again!

For those that are uninitiated or need a refresher, we typically do two yearly LAW PPV events: We Are LAW near the beginning of the year and Fight The LAW in the summer. I'm formally announcing the coming of the Fight The LAW PPV event!
What's a PPV? And why do we do them?
PPV is short for "pay-per-view". In real-life pro wrestling, PPV shows are big shows put together by wrestling companies to showcase talent and make big advancements in or even conclusions to big storylines and feuds, and sometimes other big announcements or happenings.

For our purposes as an RP community, PPV's and events in general serve to help the community and the LAW universe/canon feel more connected and more alive. It provides a singular point for fans, wrestlers, and characters to point towards and refer to where a bunch of events happened in the same show. It provides a chance for us to put together big matches and pivotal points in stories alongside other users who are doing the same, and it generates buzz and hype

I've explained this before but while We Are LAW is our biggest PPV and always takes place in the Tokyo Dome, Fight The LAW is our other big recurring event and takes place in different places around the world just like regular LAW shows/matches in the women's ring section of the forums, special events section, etc. And each year Fight The LAW will have a gimmick. Last year, the gimmick was beach matches.

This year, the event will be cut into two parts to signify it being a two-week event in LAW canon. The first week, all matches will all take place on a cruise ship on a given evening. The ship will depart from New Orleans, Louisiana and sail along The Gulf of Mexico before it docks at Tampa, Florida. During the second week, the matches will take place in the Amway Center arena in Orlando, Florida.

You are free to do any threads of your choosing outside the PPV describing the trip, transportation to and from the arena or the boat, the experience of passing the time on the boat, etc. You have creative control there.

For the actual event, it will be divided into two sections, one for "week 1" for matches taking place on the cruise ship, and a "week 2" section for matches taking place in the arena.

As per usual, this PPV will be divided into an undercard and a main card. Each week/venue will have both an undercard and a main card. Any wrestler can appear on the undercard with no restrictions. Wrestlers cannot appear on the main card unless they have completed 3 matches. Official LAW titles are to be defended on the main cards. There are times where I make exceptions to these rules, but those are the general guidelines.

Important details:
- I'm hoping to begin the event in a couple weeks on the 31st of August. If that date presents any difficulties, please let me know.

- If you have a PPV match currently in progress from last year's Fight The LAW or older, you may be asked not to participate in this event until you finish that match. This is only due to cases where there are delays in the older PPV threads due to circumstances on your end, not your RP partner's. If you have any concerns about this, you can tell me in confidence. I won't tell anyone.

- We've had big events this year in the form of We Are LAW and Apex. And these big events have kind of dominated the event scene. I am trying to pivot things so that we do smaller events more frequently instead of big events every now and then. I feel users have more fun when there are more ongoing events to choose from/follow.
As such, space on the cards here for Fight The LAW will be limited. I'm hoping to limit it to about 7 matches for each card, but we'll see how things shape up based on user demand.

- In the past, many users have made a habit of contacting me via discord to try and get their matches scheduled. I get a million discord notifications and I'm usually stuck running these events by myself. It's easy for things to fall through the cracks for me sometimes, I'm afraid. So for my own sake, if you'd like to pitch or request a match for this PPV, please send me a site PM so that I don't lose track of your request. Please bear in mind that I always check with everyone involved in a PPV thread to verify that everyone wants the same thing before adding a match to the card. If you want to speed up the process of getting your match/thread will be added to the card, please have everyone involved in the thread PM me with the same details.

- I mentioned that I wanted to do more frequent/smaller scale events. As such, while I'm trying to limit the size of this event, I did want to pitch new ones. I've posted my intentions to run a supercard event that I'm calling Rise Above The LAW which will have a focus on factions and a Reverse Tournament which will have a focus on the Loser Championship. Please comment in those threads if you'd like to see those events brought to life. And please feel free to post your own event ideas and to get people talking in those threads if you want to see an event of your own design/vision take place.

- Finally, I'll include tables for all The Fight The LAW cards below. Please message me via PM or Discord if I haven't added your match or if I got the details wrong somehow

I hope everyone enjoys participating in and following the events of Fight The LAW this year :)

You do not need clearance or permission to post threads there. As long as it's not a match and it takes place on the ship or in the Amway Center, you can do a thread of your liking that takes place at either of the PPV venues

Re: Fight The LAW

I've updated the cards with the matches I've been able to confirm thus far by talking to all the participants. There are still 3-4 matches where I'm waiting on hearing from one of the participants before adding it to the card proper.

If I've gotten any details/stipulations wrong, please let me know.

As it stands now, we may be full on main card cruise ship matches. But if you have a match that you're bent on including there, you're free to reach out to me to discuss the possibility of including it.

As it stands now, we only have 3 undercard matches and they're all scheduled for week 1/the cruise ship. If we don't get more undercard matches, we may need to combine the undercards and main cards.

Again, if you would like a PPV match, especially if you have a story building towards one, please reach out to me, preferably via site PM. Please read the announcement post to get up to speed with the rules/circumstances regarding this year's Fight The LAW.

Thank you, all!

Fight The LAW

I am officially closing off the main card cruise ship matches. With 13 slots given so far, I've already been far too generous.

I've only got room for a couple more matches on the undercard of week one and the main card of week two. More than a few slots left for the undercard of week 2.

If I've gotten any info wrong in my post above, spelling mistakes, match stipulation, etc, please let me know. Thank you everyone for showing such enthusiasm and passion for this year's Fight The LAW and for the other events we have in the pipeline!

Please remember that even if you don't manage to get a match here, we have other events planned on the horizon!

Reposting the addendum in the announcement post for visibility
