Personality

To a casual observer, Yīn can come across as absent-minded and clueless. She often appears lost in her own world, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings. The reality, however, is that this is somewhat of an unintentional ruse. Yīn always maintains a baseline of situational awareness, and her apparent absent-mindedness is the result of no longer having a clear objective in her life.
Moreover, contrary to appearances, Yīn is highly intelligent, much like the rest of her kin. But unlike others in her family, she is comparatively simpler in personality: she is satisfied with following orders and completing the objectives given to her. Her previous jobs gave her clear direction, but her current position as Méi Lǐ's bodyguard is a lot more open-ended. This has left Yīn feeling lost, something which she hopes to remedy by competing in LAW.
Although she is usually somewhat distant towards strangers, she can be quite warm with those whom she is close to. Yīn has a strong instinct to protect those whom she considers family, a sentiment that is not uncommon along her kin. When her "family" is genuinely threatened, Yīn can become quite ruthless, not stopping until the threat has been eliminated—outside of her former line of work, this is one of the few times where her killer instincts will manifest.
Ultimately, Yīn is still trying to find herself. Focusing solely on work since her late teen years, Yīn did not have much of a chance to develop an identity outside of work. She hopes to develop one in the coming years.

Additional Information
  • Yīn moves quite gracefully around the ring and appears to have some martial arts training.
Because Yīn has been in numerous life-and-death situations, she finds it difficult to take competing in the ring seriously—the gravity of such situations is more-or-less lost on her. She has difficulty getting into a fighting mindset while competing in combat sports. Thus, Yīn does not fight to her full potential while in the ring.
As for her true strength, I would say that she is quite strong, but not invincible. I am unwilling to speculate beyond that though, as it is irrelevant to how I plan to use her in matches.

History

NOTE: This backstory is a secret.

Xiāo Huīyīn (萧徽音) was born to a cadet line of the Xiāo (萧) family. Thus, unlike her main line kin, she was not subjected to the same rigorous education that main line Xiāo children underwent in order to prepare them to one day lead the family. While this meant that Huīyīn would never ascend to any major leadership position within her family, it also afforded her much more freedom. She was much less constrained in choosing passtimes and had a fair amount more free time.
Huīyīn made use of this freedom, gravitating towards martial arts almost immediately. Although all Xiāo children are required to train martial arts to some extent, and most of them show some natural aptitude, Huīyīn was unnaturally gifted even by Xiāo standards. Huīyīn did not let this talent go to waste, devoting much of her time growing up to honing her martial arts skills. She trained in a variety of disciplines such as Sanda, Muay Thai, boxing, and BJJ, among others. Her training was not just limited to unarmed combat though, as she also learned how to use various melee weapons and firearms.
Being a part of the Xiāo family meant that Huīyīn was provided with pretty much whatever resources she needed to pursue her martial interests. And so long as she kept up with her studies, the family did not object. However, as is the case with all Xiāo children, Huīyīn was expected to one day serve the family's interests. None of the typical options appealed to her though—she was, for instance, not particularly interested in business; and living a life behind a desk as a strategist or analyst did not resonate with her either. She needed excitement. Possibly even danger.
Thankfully, within the Xiāo-owned company SR Holdings, there were plenty of opportunities for Huīyīn. SR Holdings owned SR Security Services (SRSS), which was nominally a security company but was also involved in private intelligence and private military contracting. Eager to start a more exciting phase of her life, Huīyīn ended up joining SR Security Services at the age of sixteen.
The next decade or so of Huīyīn's life was spent bouncing around various roles such as mercenary, assassin, intelligence agent, and bodyguard. And by all accounts, Huīyīn was quite effective in all of her roles. She dedicated herself almost entirely to her work, to the exclusion of nearly everything else. Any time that was not spent on work was usually spent studying
Huīyīn's family connections allowed her to obtain something analogous to higher education. The learning was done remotely and asynchronously.
or visiting family
Huīyīn helped train both Méi and Huā in martial arts (e.g. Sanda, Muay Thai, boxing, BJJ, etc). Huīyīn also taught Húxiān how to use weapons. Huīyīn was actually quite capable as a teacher.
, so Huīyīn seldom had any time to herself.
This tendency to constantly work ended up concerning her family, and she was strongly advised to shift to a position that was much less taxing, at least temporarily. Being somewhat aware of her own tendency to overwork herself, Huīyīn agreed. She quit her job at SR Security Services and became a bodyguard for her second cousin Méi Xiāo.
Her new position was a drastic departure from some of her previous duties. Being a bodyguard to Méi was comparatively more relaxed as Méi was seldom in any real danger. This did not deter Huīyīn from executing her duties to the best of her ability, but it did leave Huīyīn feeling lost. Her new assignment felt less like a job and more like an extended vacation. After a while, she started to get restless.
Huīyīn kept these feelings to herself for a while, before eventually confiding in Méi—the two were relatively close, and Méi was one of the few people whom Huīyīn would consider a friend. Méi suggested that Huīyīn join LAW as a way to give her some semblance of purpose and to mitigate her boredom. Craving a way to add excitement to her life and break up the monotony, Huīyīn decided to join LAW under the name Liú Yīn. Around the same time, Huīyīn was also hired as a trainer for Patricia Lagranges Corticarte, the disgraced former heiress of the Corticarte Conglomerate and Méi's close friend.

Relationships
Secret
  • Méi Xiāo - Being of the same family, the two have known each other for years. The two are fairly close.
  • Huā Xiāo - Similar sort of deal as with Méi.
  • Patricia Lagranges Corticarte - The two are acquaintances/friends. They met through Méi. Huīyīn was hired as one of Patricia's trainers.

Quick Facts
  • She really likes cats.
Secret
  • Huīyīn owns a Victorian Siamese cat.
Read the end of the "Background Information" section in Niko-kun the Siamese cat's backstory for more information on what a "Victorian Siamese" cat is.
Huīyīn treats her like her own child.
  • Because of her position as Méi Lǐ's bodyguard, Huīyīn carries a concealed firearm when out and about.
    • DISCLAIMER (READ THIS):
Huīyīn does not carry any firearms during her matches. Furthermore, the fact that Huīyīn is usually armed outside of matches will NOT come up in RP.
    • Usually, Huīyīn will carry a Sig Sauer P365 in a thigh-mounted holster, with the gun being on the inside of her left thigh. This allows her to wear form-fitting dresses without revealing that she's armed. Should she desire a weapon that is even more concealable, she will typically go for a Ruger LCP MAX.
  • Huīyīn has killed people as part of her various past jobs. She feels very little remorse for it though as she saw the killings as duty and serving her family's interests.
  • Huīyīn is skilled at disguising herself and has made sure to be in disguise during her past work. Her current appearance is her natural appearance, however.
    • Huīyīn taught Húxiān how to disguise herself.
  • Huīyīn's level of education is effectively equivalent to a bachelor's degree. She received something equivalent to higher education via remote learning.
  • Huīyīn is in charge of protecting Méi, particularly in circumstances where the Eleven Men would be too conspicuous. Huīyīn also helps coordinate Méi's Eleven Men team
They are more than capable of organizing themselves when needed though.
    .
    • Huīyīn has served with some members of Méi's Eleven Men team on prior occasions.
