Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Mira looked at Larum who seemed to be a strange mix of pumped up and frustrated by the fact that she didn't get Miranda to tap out. Frustration she could understand but she wondered why she seemed to be energized again after a failed near win like that, maybe because she got a glimpse of victory to ride on. Either way Mira would slowly start to move up and back to her feet, less energetic than Larum but still with enough that she wasn't out of it.
"I had less fun getting bent like a pretzel even if there is weight difference I won't let that stop me from beating girls with 25 or even more pounds plus of my own." Mira said, she didn't want to just be the champ of the lightweights but also the Openweight, so she knew that the problems Larum had with her would be ones she would have with others and would have to overcome. Miranda was back on her feet and facing Larum to try and get closer to the dancer for the two to take her down.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
"Wow, are you talking about fighting like, Middleweights and Heavyweights?" asked Larum. "I can't even imagine that. Facing someone double my weight and a foot and a half taller than me would like trying to wrestle my daddy. And that's not something I would want to even try, if I'm being honest with myself," admitted the dancer. It might have been her frail defense talking, but Larum was plenty content to stick with her own weight class.
The game of Miranda trying to get in and Larum trying to keep her at bay began once again, or it would've, but Larum decided to change pace. Riding the momentum from her recent success, the dancer decided that she wanted to get aggressive. Larum let Miranda get in close, so that she could get in even closer. Larum would try to wrap her arms around Miranda's back and get body to body with her, and if she could, then Larum would start shooting off knee strikes at the belly dancer's belly.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Miranda looked at Larum who sounded impressed or shocked by Mira's desire to take on anyone. "Yeah, How else would I win more than the Lightweight belt if I wasn't ready to take on Middle or Heavyweights? I know it's difficult but I can't let my size be a blockade that stops my main goals." Miranda said getting ready for Larum once more, stepping in close just as Larum rushed her. The blonde's speed was still good and she quickly wrapped around Miranda's surprised body, she quickly tried to break away only for Larum would throw in knee strikes aimed for belly.
"Ouuff! Uggh!" Mira gasped at the sudden strikes to her body. The knees struck at her sides and center with such precision and despite the difference in power Larum had enough behind her that the power difference didn't matter when her strikes were pushing through her body and forcing the air out of her. Larum was working to bring her down and at the speed she was chipping away at her body she was getting pretty close with Mira going from trying to pull away from Larum to leaning on her trying to stay up.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Larum was able to get in and start her barrage on Miranda's midsection, but something the had said irked Larum. "That Openweight Belt is the biggest cash grab scam of a gimmick that LAW has! It'll just be the Heavyweight Belt 2, mark my words," By no means was Larum mad at Miranda in this case, but her anger towards the whole APEX even had been brought forward.
"I mean, if a Lightweight or Middleweight could beat the Heavyweight champ, don't you think that it'd have happened by now? LAW is just marketing this as something different because they know they can get away with it!" The intensity of her strikes was building up along with her emotions. Larum wondered if the end was once again near as she felt more of Miranda's weight leaning on her. "Besides, don't you think you oughtta be able to beat little ol' me before you take on the real big girls?"

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Larum's surprising outburst about the title being a big scam surprised her, but at least it showed she had some passion to dislike things she saw as issues in LAW. "Well that's just defeatist, many people have beaten heavyweights, it's not about size its about skill Larum." Miranda said, she had always loved the David vs Goliath type of wrestling and she knew that despite her size she wasn't going to let herself be seen as a side show just because she was a lightweight. But right now since she was the Goliath of the match and getting worked over by knees to the gut that left Mira leaning on Larum, she would need to let that not matter.
"Good point..." Miranda muttered as her hands would move down to try and block Larum's knees, with as close as she was she would try to pull Larum close and remove the space she had to actually use those knees while trying to squeeze the blonde's waist. One might call this a bearhug but Miranda wasn't really pulling her in as tight for one, she mostly just wanted to make Larum uncomfortable and unable to hit her back while she recovered.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
"But it is about size! That's why weight classes exist in the first place," Larum shot back. Miranda pulled her in close, but it wasn't an attack. At least not really. It was clearly more of an attempt to stop Larum's barrage of knees and recover for Miranda than the bearhug it may have looked like. Larum's attack was stopped, but she didn't care too much. She was on a verbal roll right now, and while sticking to the fight would've been the smarter play, Larum was more happy that she had a good opportunity to get her point across.
"Of course skill can overcome size. I don't deny that," conceded Larum. "But there's a ceiling to skill. And once you hit that, it's who has more weight to throw around. If Rose Gold and Astrid Ostberg fought, that's two people with champion caliber skill by the way, Rose wouldn't stand a chance. Lightweights can beat heavyweights that are at a lower level, but once you get to the elite level, there's just no room to create a skill gap big enough to win for the smaller girl, because a champion is already gonna be so close to the darn ceiling!" Knowing the next point that would likely come from Miranda if she chose to continue the argument, Larum would preempt it. "And you can say 'oh but lightweights have speed!' but it's not enough. A champion heavyweight won't be slow. And she'll know how to deal with speed. But there's no 'knowing' how to handle somebody one and a half times your size who's good enough to and knows how to deal with all the things that should be your advantages!"
Miranda not putting much pressure on Larum with her grab was a blessing in disguise for her. With no pain to remind her, Larum had completely lost focus on the match to go on her tirade. If Miranda wanted to take it, Larum's entire speech was one massive opening for her.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
She knew that it wasn't her business what someone else thought or how they felt about the belts, but Miranda was finding herself to be a little angry by Larum's pessimism when dealing with heavyweights. "Their is no ceiling for one's ability to win matches!" Miranda said before she actually started to squeeze Larum pulling the dancer in close and trying to crush her waist. The bearhug would only last a few seconds before she let go and pushed Larum back before she would try and go for a dropkick.
"LAW already has top talent that can beat Heavyweights, being elite doesn't mean perfect and anyone who would let that beat them down is making a ceiling for themselves! I have too many obstacles to let myself fall into the same slope you have!" Miranda said trying to force her back springing up to her feet and running in after her again so she could go for a hurricanrana.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Larum and Miranda seemed to have opinions on completely opposite ends of the available spectrum. The kind of difference that could never be settled with any amount of debate, because there was simply no common ground to be met on. The two dancers simply registered the other as objectively wrong on the topic of whether or not smaller wrestlers could truly hang with the heavyweight elite.
But while the intellectual battle amounted to little, Miranda was about to take the advantage in the physical battle. She was able to adjust her position so she could get some actual power behind her bearhug, "AH!" yelped Larum, as her mind was dragged back into the fight. She was knocked back into the ropes by Miranda's dropkick, but when she saw the belly dancer running in for more, Larum got out of dodge by running out of range. Is this what it's like for other people to talk to me? thought Larum, viewing herself as the realist in this situation, and Miranda with her head in the clouds.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Miranda had started to get at her, now simply wanting to prove her point even though she knew that beating Larum wouldn't actually change her mind, but getting to LAW Apex and winning would. It was her goal now more than ever and she was going to start by making a good impression in any match, even no Apex related ones like this. While Larum eluded her she still had time to get right back on and back on her feet she would start to get up and start to go after Larum and make the smaller girl work for an opening.
"You can't avoid me like that forever." Miranda said chasing Larum. Her aim was to simply give her no room to use that speed, since getting her hands on her let her just keep her down while she found that Larum struggled up close unless she had her in some grip. So she had to stop that at the pass and go from there. If she got close she would grab Larum and try to pull her into a clothesline.

Re: Larum Douglas vs Miranda Tomi - The Big Dance
Larum was not one to dwell on things too much, so the argument she had with Miranda over the nature of Apex was something she was able to let go of rather easily. Especially so considering she wasn't invested it in. Larum had gotten her opinion out, and was ready to move on. But doing so had still cost the dancer her momentum and advantage in the match, with Miranda now pressing her.
"And who said I would try?" Larum retorted to Miranda's accusation of avoidance. The orange haired girl was more than happy to attack. As Miranda came in, Larum snapped out a kick at the belly dancer's thigh, and then a second quick one into her hip. At that point, Miranda had gotten too close for another blow, so Larum had to use her footwork to quickly get back into a good stance and prepare to grapple. She struggled, having to deal with the larger girl, and eventually Miranda swung her arm and caught Larum on the top of her head, knocking her into a stumble backwards as the dancer fought to keep standing.
