Cheryl Williams vs Megumi Mutoh - Apex Qualifier Match

Cheryl's Apex journey started now, but man what a hell of a start, she knew that she was going to have to beat the best of the best if she wanted to top champion but being put against a former Middleweight contender right off the bat felt like a huge change up. She knew that this would be the biggest test of her skills yet, Cheryl had been able to handle most opponents with limb locks and submission holds but someone like Megumi would know the answer to every submission she tried, meaning Cheryl would have to push them through in spite of that lingering issue. Letting her nerves calm in the face of her impending match Cheryl's music finally played and brushing off any ill thoughts she started to march out waving her Pom Poms in the air.

"C-H-E-R-Y-L! Don't forget it!" Cheryl said flexing and waving her arms around as she practically spun down to the ring. She knew that she wanted to make a good impression for all especially if she had any hope of representing them as their world champion in the future both in the tag division and the singles. Come to think of it Megumi was in a tag team as well, which meant Cheryl had even more motivation to win not wanting to let herself look weak when they needed to keep going strong for the future chances at getting a tag team title match, she was all smiles now but once Megumi got here and that bell rang she would be all business.

Megumi was feeling excited tonight. She would be having a qualifier match which would allow her to qualify to contend for the Openweight title. Clad in her leotard, Megumi would make her entrance after her opponent, her music playing from the loudspeakers. The crowd cheered as the Combat Genius made her way down the ramp, heading over to the ring. They were looking forward to see what the wrestling prodigy had in store for this match tonight.

Once she entered the ring, Megumi looked at her opponent, Cheryl. If she wasn't mistaken, this Cheryl was also a part of a tag-team. But tonight's match was a singles match, so she would put aside all the stuff regarding tag-team first. For the time being, she offered Cheryl a nod as she waited at her corner, taking her time to calm her nerves as she waited for the match to begin. She would need to give a good performance tonight to prove that she was worthy of contending for the biggest title in the promotion.

While the crowd cheered loudly for Cheryl they had plenty of love to give her opponent, a more famous name due to being in singles title matches and a tag team star before she even came to LAW and continued that success even when she came here. Cheryl didn't let herself feel intimidated since she knew that this was the kind of match she should be doing more of, if she wanted to be seen as a big deal she had to act like it and face girls like Megumi but beat them. Nothing would ever be accomplished by her feeling like she was under people.

"So Megumi ever been punched by a Pom Pom?" Cheryl said shaking the pom poms on her hand before laughing and taking them off. Placing them in her corner she turned back to Megumi to actually get this match started, waiting for the bell while she watched the genius and wondered what she should start the match with. Was there anyway to start that Megumi wouldn't see coming? What did Megumi think Cheryl would try, the more calculated of the punchers thought about the best way to take her down and knew that she may have to go crazy if she wanted to do anything that surprised the brunette.

Megumi looked at the cheerleader whom she would be facing. After hearing her question, Megumi answered, "Well, never picked a fight with a cheerleader at high school before. But I guess there's always a first time for everything." She smiled as she kept her eyes on Cheryl. Of course, just because her opponent was a cheerleader didn't mean she could underestimate her. Cheerleaders are athletes, after all. It would be foolish to underestimate people like them.

Megumi waited at the corner before the referee called for both of them. Stepping forth, Megumi got herself ready, rolling her shoulder as she maintained her gaze on Cheryl. Soon enough, after making sure that both wrestlers were ready, the referee called for the bell, starting the match between them. Megumi had decided to get into position, taking a stance as she would raise her arms in preparation for a lock up with the cheerleader before her, planning to lock up with her in a collar-and-elbow tie-up.

While Cheryl's words were helping her get focused and calm some nerves she had but the cheerleader knew that calm or not Megumi was still going to be tough to beat. She had to think about what would be the best way to take her down but when the bell rang Cheryl still moved in and started a collar and elbow with the brunette like she would do with anyone. The two struggled in the center of the ring trying to overpower the other but instead of strength Cheryl would try to break down Megumi's stance and show her she knew a thing or two about that.

Pushing to keep Megumi in place Cheryl try to turn to the side and take Megumi's arm with her, rolling back and throwing her down with an arm drag to take Megumi off balance. With that she would quickly spring up to her feet again and move in after Megumi while she was still getting up and try to throw her down with a second arm drag, only to stand up and go after her once more and this time try to fully knock her to the mat with a shoulder tackle.

Locking up with Cheryl, Megumi would try to exert her strength in order to overpower her, but the cheerleader seemed to have something in her mind as she turned to the side before she threw Megumi down with an arm drag. Eyes widening, Megumi immediately braced herself as she landed on her back. Quickly rolling over, Megumi would get herself on her knees before popping herself up onto her feet. Then, the moment she got herself back up, she would run over to the ropes, rebounding from them before returning back to where Cheryl was.

Once she returned back to Cheryl, Megumi would try to hit her with a shoulder block, hoping to knock her down and gain an upper hand over the cheerleader.

Quick as a cat, Cheryl knew that for moves like this speed was important, if she couldn't act faster then Megumi could react, her plans would fail. Throwing her down not once but twice in trying to disorient her she quickly moved to throw herself into a shoulder tackle to bring Megumi down hard. But when she ran back she saw Megumi was back up but already running towards her, despite the arm drags so instead of her shoulder tackle hitting an unexpected target, she ended up hitting one running into her meaning the two just bull charged each other.

"Uh oh!" Cheryl screamed when she slammed into Megumi as Megumi slammed into her, and since strength and power were not games Cheryl played she didn't really like that. She stepped back rubbing her shoulder with an irritated groan, things were not part of her plan and she didn't really want to fight Megumi like that, it was dumb to try and beat someone like her at a game she was better suited to.

Both Megumi and Cheryl ended up running into each other, and the collision did cause damage on Megumi as well. "Urghh..." Groaning, Megumi fought through the pain and looked at the cheerleader whom she slammed herself into earlier. Wanting to use this opportunity to go for an attack, she would close in and wrap her arms around her body from the front, pressing their busts with each other.

Hugging Cheryl, Megumi would then try to hoist her up and send her crashing down into the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex. She thought that if the move was successful, Cheryl would be in a lot of pain, allowing Megumi to gain an upper hand over her.

Cheryl and Megumi ended up running into each other at full speed nearly knocking them both down, but neither could act on it at first because the impact stunned them. Cheryl wanted to back away because brute force fights were matches she was losing most of the time, Megumi did not share this sentiment and instead went right for the cheerleader before she could get away. Grabbing her waist Cheryl didn't even have time to pull herself free before she was suplexed over Megumi and dropped to the mat.

"Uaagh!" Cheryl gasped as she slammed into the mat. The fall was bad, and while she thankfully landed full on her back as opposed to her neck or at an angle she ended up feel her lower back go slightly numb from the pain which made it hard to get up or turn away, keeping her down on the mat a little longer and in prime position for Megumi's follow up.

Sending Cheryl down into the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex, Megumi looked at her direction and considered her next move. Pushing herself up, she would make her way towards the downed cheerleader, making sure to get her down onto her belly before she pressed her right foot against the small of her back. Then, Megumi would reach down to both Cheryl's wrists and yanked them back, lifting Cheryl's body up and subjecting her to a surfboard stretch, putting pressure on both her shoulders and back.

Megumi wasn't counting on this hold to win her this match, but by doing this, she was certain that she would be able to weaken Cheryl, allowing her to seize victory much easier somewhere down the line.
