The Demon's Wrath

Unread post by Deskfan45 »

Whistling
An eerie whistling echoed through the backstage halls of the arena, as a woman in ring gear stained with blood strolled along, fidgeting with a bloodied knife, which she flipped open and closed as she whistled a tune. Skylar Jones had just finished her match with Yuki Kzikura, a one sided slaughter ending in the Dynamite Schoolgirl carried away to the hospital on a stretcher.A chuckle escaped the brunette's lips as she recalled the sickening crunch of the girl's leg as it was crushed by the chair, the blood curdling scream she bellowed out as Sky cut her face up, hanging her with her belt as a makeshift noose.

Her body slowly calmed down from the near manic adrenaline rush that came with what she'd done. Her eye's twitched, and she snapped her finers, somewhat of a tic she had when she was excited. She intended to wash the blood off her hands and face, change out of these clothes, then head home. Maybe watch a movie over a drink.

The moment Reiko saw the match going on from backstage she felt a pit in her stomach. The first thought was that it was just the fact of having to watch a match involving Kazikura Yuki on the big screen while stuffing her face at catering. But then... she saw Yuki's opponent, and that hole only grew larger and larger.

This was going to be bad.

That what her instincts told her. From the moment she saw the two standing next to each, the second she saw Skylar's manic expression toward Yuki was the moment Reiko shot up and bolted from backstage. Still clad in her full kimono, the jog left her winded, and even when she reached near the entrance of the stage she was blocked off by staff and forced backstage, forced to watch what could only be described as an attempted murder.

Reiko held no love for Kazikura Yuki. To this day she still hated the girl for her cold attitude and refusal to accept the reality LAW being about more than her and her problems. Reiko had said to Yuki's very face that she'd personally give her a scar to match Reiko's in their next rematch.

But what Yuki went through... was a step too far.

No, it wasn't a step, it wasn't even a leap. It was a damn corkscrew.

Even now Skylar's manic howls still pierced at Reiko's ears. "... ... ..." But... it ended. With Kazikura being carried on a stretcher, it ended. Just remembering what happened minutes ago had Reiko fighting the urge to throw up. Reiko wasn't a stranger to violence, but... there was violence, and then there was... that. And worse off... the worst part of it was... was...

"Just... control yourself better next time..."

"Heh, I will, promise."

"You BITCH!" Reiko eyes narrowed to slits the moment Skylar was in her sight, her voice high pitch and unhinged as she saw the bloodied, grinning woman. The look of a killer, a look that only lit Reiko's fury further. She didn't even wait for a response, moving as far as her attire would let her to slap Skylar across the face, hopefully hard enough to knock the damn knife out along with the mania.

Skylar leaned her head back, whistling as she strolled through the halls. "Eh-?" She opened her eyes as she heard a familiar voice curse, just long enough to catch a glimpse of Reiko swinging her hand and slapping the taste out of her mouth. Caught off guard, the impact sent her stumbling, and she fell on her ass, dropping her knife, which was sent skidding across the ground. "What the he-" Skylar growled, before her eyes went wide, realizing who her attacker was.

Oh fuck.

Skylar was under no delusion that Reiko would ever thank her for what she'd done, but she'd believed that she simply wouldn't care. Now though, on the ground, being forced to face the music for her actions, she realized just how stupid she was to ever think that. "R-Reiko! I-... I-..." She tried to talk, but she didn't know what to say. She was sorry? No, she couldn't expect sorry to make up for what she'd done. Her eyes were filled with fear, like a scared dog being scolded by it's owner.

Reiko's eyes, burned with black anger as she felt her own hand sting from the force of the slap. She nearly lost her balance from the motion, staggering on her geta sandals as they clacked along the floor. "Gh-" It only took a second to regain her balance, and the result left Skylar downed and stammering. Skylar's very attempt at speaking was met with an even sharper glare as Reiko bared her canines at the woman. "You-" The words were practically spat out as she took a step forward, her wooden sandal giving and near-deafening clack from her stomp. The fearful look Skylar gave only fanned the flames of Reiko's rage further. "You what?!" She snarled, baring her teeth at the woman as she loomed over her, fists clenched tight as if debating a punch.

"You. What?" She continued, not waiting for an answer. "Who told you to do that?" She only waited a second before going on as if Skylar answered her. "Who the fuck gave you permission to go. After. My. Prey?"

There was an irony to how the Brawling Puppet shrank, trembling as Reiko tore into her. Perhaps it was somewhat of a poetic justice after what she'd done just ten minutes earlier. The monster who had hung a woman from the ropes and mutilated her face now felt like a helpless bug. The idiocy of her actions had dawned on her as hard as Reiko's slap. She didn't think it through. She didn't think anything through. "I'm... sorry..." Skylar said, just barely able to look her friend in the eye as she apologized. Her mind frantically searched for something to make this better. Anything.

"I... I didn't think! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to piss you off!" She said frantically. This always happened when she managed to got on her friend's bad side. It felt unbearable for Skylar's friends to be mad at her. Right now, all she wanted was Reiko's forgiveness, and she was more than willing to beg for it.

"... ... ..." Reiko was silent, her eyes looking over Skylar's body, her expression, her tone, her words. "... ... ..." The apology was as pathetic as Skylar's stammering, less an admission of guilt and more a plea for mercy. The begging of someone wanting to avoid a deserved punishment. A scene she was somewhat familiar with in the ring.

But this wasn't some girl about to pulled into a chokehold. No... no, this was someone that had a painful retribution coming. "No..." Reiko clenched a fist tight, baring her teeth at the woman. "You didn't think." She snapped, snatching Skylar by the collar.

"Why..." She snarled, bring Skylar's face close. "Kazikura wasn't yours to touch." She brought her forehead against Skylar's. "So why?"

It was a rare sight for Skylar Jones to be this weak, stammering as the enraged demon demanded answers. Reiko's rage anihalated Skylar's defenses so that all she could do was tell the truth. "I was mad..." Her fists clenched. "She put that scar on your face. My friend's face..." Anger welled in her voice, as if still furious at Yuki for something she'd suffered far more than enough for. "So I gave her a nastier one. "

"... ... ..." Reiko's face was void of emotion, staring Skylar dead in the air as she heard the answer. She looked over her face, hearing the fury rise in her voice, seeing the glare start to sharpen on her face as Skylar started t-

*CLANG*

Reiko stomped hard on the ground, eyes dead and hallow as she cut off any further words. She looked the woman over as if she was staring at an object. "So what??" She didn't wait for a response, pulling up her bang to reveal her slowly healing scar. She forced Skylar to star, forced her to see it. "This is a battle scar. One I'm proud to have." It was a reminder of how all out the two had went on each other. How Reiko could survive a hellish match like that and keep fighting in this League without hesitation and regret.

And it was a promise...

"I need to give you another scar so that we match afterwards."

A promise she can't keep now.

It was was taken away from her now. Even if Kazikura's scar healed, the following scar Reiko gave would just be a poor imitation of someone's ignorant violent spree. "You stole that from me..." Reiko snarled, fists clenched tight. "I won't forgive you." She could feel her whole body shaking. "I'll never forgive you for this. You hear me, Jones!" She took on more step forward, bending down to finally look at Skylar, acknowledging the person in front of her as a human. She had enough. Enough of looking at this... violent fool. "Go near Kazikura again and I'll kill you."

Skylar winced at the sound of Reiko's foot stomping into the ground. She couldn't bring herself to look the demon in the eye anymore. She could only listen in shame as Reiko scolded her. "I'll never forgive tou for this. You hear me, Jones!" The words seared Skylar's mind, tears welling up inside her, tears she wouldn't be able to hold much longer. As Reiko threatened to kill her, it wasn't death Skylar feared. No, she was too arrogant to ever take a death threat seriously. She was confident that if Reiko really did try to kill her, she would be able to kick her ass. No, it wasn't the fear of death that drew Skylar's tears, it was the fear of losing a friend. Someone she just a few days ago bonded so much with, someone she cared about. She could never earn Reiko's friendship back, and she had not a soul to blame but herself.

Skylar grit her teeth, doing her best to hide the fact she was so close to crying. She kicked herself for being so weak. Former friend or not, she'd promised herself that no one would push her around ever again. Her expression turned more stern, her hands firmly gripping Reiko's arms, removing them from her collar by force. "A'right." She started curtly, already turning around to walk away, hands in her pockets as a tear streaked down her cheek. Her voice cracked as she tried to stay strong. "You got my word. I'll stay outta you and Yuki's ways from now on."

A snarl covered Skylar's face as she walked through the halls, making it clear to anyone who passed her that she wasn't to be bothered. She stifled sobs, her vision blurring from the tears, and her nose growing sniffly. She put her hood up to obscure her face.

She got into her car, curling up into a ball. She couldn't hold it in any longer, so she cried, and she cried, and she cried...
