The Young Lioness Cup: Gabi Pelletier vs. Rem Mathers

Gabi got her arms around Rem's waist in preparation for what she hoped would be a match ending move, bracing herself for a struggle that didn't come. The bluenette seemed to have wiped herself out with her ill-advised splash attempt, leaving the door open for Gabi to capitalise. Lucky, some might have said, but she couldn't worry about that now. She had her chance.

And so she heaved Rem skywards and brought the other Young Lioness crashing back down to earth in the sit-out powerbomb. A cry of pain escaped the bluenette's lips and she went limp, the fight apparently slammed out of her. Gabi leaned forward, keeping Rem's legs held tight and pressing down to keep her in place for a pin.

And that was it! Her first victory in the Young Lioness tournament! Gabi let out a gasp of relief and released her hold on Rem, flopping backwards onto the canvas with her chest heaving as she gathered her breath. At length, the young Canadian wriggled away from her prone foe and clambered to her feet. Beaming a smile, she allowed the referee to raise her hand, confirming her victory. She blushed pridefully, pumping a fist in the air for the cheering fans. She looked down on Rem, smiling awkwardly.

"Good match, Rem," she said, unable to keep the happiness out of her voice. "Good luck in the tournament! I'm sure we'll tussle again soon!" And with that Gabi walked unsteadily, but joyfully from the ring, waving to the fans and grinning from ear to ear as she basked in the feeling of a hard-fought win!

Revelling in her victory, Gabi had no idea how close she'd come to unleashing the beast inside her opponent...
