Re: La Mariposa vs Hayleigh Hayashibara "Jorogumo" - I Quit Match

The arena was ready for the We Are LAW event. The excitement in the air made the whole atmosphere electric. Hordes of enthusiast fans gathered on the stands ready to cheer and root for their wrestlers until their throats would burst in pain. Everything on stage was ready as everyone was on the little recess between matches, waiting for another exciting round of wrestling. And in the center of all would be Hayleigh Hayashibara once again. It was a damn great night for a debut.

Inside the locker room Hayleigh made her final preparations. Her hair and looks were good enough for her reappearance on stage and her attire was a tight fit to her slim but toned body. Hayleigh may have spent some time out of a ring, but she still looked like a threatening wrestler and was pretty determined to make a comeback and show everyone in that new league what she was made of. Stretching as the final part of her warmup routine the blonde looked at herself in the mirror, her enthusiasm growing stronger. She just wanted to get out of there and face that new league and her rival. Jorogumo knew nothing of her rival for that night’s match, only that she was a debutant like her and even if she recognized the honor of being welcomed to a new place with such an important match she couldn’t help but wonder what kind of rival she got. Maybe her mysterious oponent had some degree of experience like her, hence the double debut in a PPV match? In any case, Hayleigh was so thrilled because she would get to debut in an “I quit” match, one of her favorite types. The simple thought of her overpowering her oponent and forcing her to recognize her as the superior fighter before accepting her submission sent chills through her spine. All that coursed her mind as she walked backstage in wait for her turn to make her appearance.

Just when her entrance theme started Hayleigh walked on stage, standing on top of the entrance ramp, basking in the excitement running the atmosphere. The crowd reacted accordingly to her entrance with some cheers, but there was also some boos from people that likely knew her from her previous role as heel in another division or even from people who knew her rival and wanted to root for her. Hayleigh walked down the ramp with a dignified and haughty aura, basking in both the cheers and the boos. After all, she was quite content with her role as villain since they got some sympathy as well.

Upon reaching the ring Hayleigh made it under the ropes while doing a split in a show of flexibility and physical prowess that was looked upon with awe. When she was finally done with her entrance she would give a final look at the crowd while standing at the center of the ring, her arms open to both her sides and her head looking upwards with a grin as a final challenge to that people. “Come on you people, show me what you’ve got!”, exclaimed the blonde teasing the crowd to boo at her even more. Yes. It was a wonderful night for a debut, thought Hayleigh as she made it to her corner.

This match was going to be hell. She was sure of it.

Of course, she wasn’t confident in her ability to win. And don’t mistake that she had full intentions of coming out of this match the victor. It’s simply that the luchadora known as La Mariposa knew that the match she was about to step into would be one of the toughest she’s ever come across in her career as a wrestler. Both in her tenure at LAW, and her work in the indie leagues.

When she had been told that she was slotted for a match in the upcoming PPV, she had been overjoyed! So much so that she hardly cared about the match type she was put in. She was going to give her all and come out on top to the amazement of everyone watching. Though through the excitement, the luchadora had to wonder why a LAW Newbie like her was picked for such a big event and such a taxing match.

Then she saw who her opponent was.

From the locker room tv screen which was streaming the whole event live. Mariposa watched as Hayleigh “Jorogumo” Hayashibara made her way to the ring, and suddenly it all clicked into place. The luchadora knew Hayleigh, just as it would soon be revealed that the blonde knew her. They had been at each other’s throats back in the indies for years, and now they are about to meet once again after so long.

Well, best not keep her waiting.

Adjusting her mask one final time, the luchadora would make her way to the gorilla position just as she heard the beginning of her theme begin to play. And when the best dropped, she would jump out to an explosion of pyro! Her silhouette shining from the bright lights as she posed before finally dashing down to the ring. A chorus of cheers following behind as those who recognized her gave her a heroine’s welcome. While others were simply amazed at the display.

Reaching the ring she hopped onto the apron before using the ropes to slingshot herself inside, landing in a crouch before slowing rising back to her feet. Her eyes never leaving the blonde in front of her as she did so. When she was straight she put her hands on her hips and continued to stare before finally speaking.

”Hello Hayleigh. It’s been some time.”

Some of Hayleigh’s enthusiasm faded when she recognized that wrestling name, that silouette walking towards the ring, and for some instants her face turned into a disgusted one. She had quite the story involving that woman: for some years and way before LAW Jorogumo was infamous among a certain particular indie wrestling league. She had made a reputation out of herself because of how she handled her rivals, getting to defeat them with humiliating moves that made her look ruthless. That basking in her rivals’ misery was even more intense when dealing with face wrestlers.

Here enters La Mariposa on stage. The woman had an exactly opposite reputation than Hayleigh’s. Where Jorogumo was vicious La Mariposa was righteous, where one was cruel the other was kind, and where Hayleigh basked on her rivals’ demise that mysterious woman wanted to protect every face wrestler. More than once they crossed paths when Hayleigh was humiliating some goody-two-shoes wrestler, and since their actual wrestling skills were on par with each other their clashes would end either way. It was a great spectacle for their fans, but in some way it made Hayleigh to be at Mariposa's throat, the worst part of it being how Hayleigh wasn't capable of learning the woman's true identity behind that mask. And now, so many years after that they crossed paths once more. Now everything clicked on Hayleigh’s mind: that was why she was booked for a PPV event on her very debut. This wasn’t a regular match, it was a grudge match already, one that had quite the grudge behind.

Hayleigh wasn’t very happy at Mariposa's intrusion. In some way she expected to have a fresh start in LAW and now things were starting to look like her previous career even before the bell had rung. But while she thought all that Mariposa had made her way to the ring, greeting her in a polite way that showed they had a story behind. It wouldn’t be good to escalate things from the very beginning, so Hayleigh would try to keep things mellow, or at least as mellow as she could considering it was Lisa she was talking about.

“Has been some time, yeah.” Hayleigh made a closer inspection on her long-standing rival. “You put up some pounds, you know?” No matter how they tried to keep things far from escalating it was La Mariposa she was talking to, so she would try to show superiority from before the match could start. It had been that way for so much time and it was going to be difficult for things to change.

The woman’s face has changed back into one of stone, but the luchadora was able to see the disgusted look of recognition cross her features before she managed to cool them. To say that Mariposa had a sordid history with this woman was a massive understatement. They fought on multiple occasions over the course of their wrestling careers, trading wins back and forth yet both of them refusing to not let the other have the last laugh.

So of course it would only make sense for the promoters in the LAW hierarchy to make use of such a feud when they realize that both women were in the same league once again. And what better way for them to meet than in a grudge match like I Quit. It was funny too, mariposa thought. Despite all the matches she had faced off against Hayleigh. I Quit certainly wasn’t one of them.

So here they were, staring one another down like they have done so many times before. Sometimes in their matches, others when Mariposa stepped in to stop the brutalization of another wrestler at the jorogumo’s hands. Mariposa spoke first, if only to make their reacquaintance more civil. But she knew that civility was doomed to fail as they got into the match proper.

And Hayleigh didn’t disappoint, with her response being a hidden insult at the luchadora’s weight. A slight that mariposa narrowed her eyes at. ”That’s funny. Because I can’t help but notice that there’s a little grey in your hair. You trying a new hair dye or are you just old?” she replied callously. She even began to step closer to stare into her rivals eyes.

A moment that didn’t last long as the referee would finally step in and separate the two before explaining the rules. The match only ends when one makes the other say the words “I Quit”. The referee will be carrying a microphone the whole time and will follow the two of them wherever their battle takes them. Aside from that, all bets were off and anything goes. After she was done she would ring the bell and Mariposa would begin to circle her rival, her body tensed for what was to come.

Hayleigh could be playing it cool in front of Mariposa, but she wasn’t quite happy at the moment. In some way the blonde had some plans for her return to wrestling. She knew that she had a blank slate in front of her and she would be able to write her story in the big leagues upon her arrival to LAW, but the fact that not only they booked her for a match against Mariposa rekindling her rivalry but they did it behind her back made Hayleigh angry. It felt like some encore from her previous career, like she was stuck in a loop she couldn’t escape from.

But no matter how angry Hayleigh could be the facts remained the same: she was stuck in the ring with Mariposa and there was no way around it. Not only that but it looked like Mariposa had grown some character and now was capable of trashtalking her back. It felt somehow new comparing it with how she remembered Mariposa, but no change about that woman would be welcome. When Mariposa teased her making fun of her hair (obviously making up some bullcrap about grey hairs), Hayleigh went forwards to meet her rival so closely they could almost touch foreheads. The tension was electric but the referee was quick on her tracks to stop any kind of conflict and separate them until the bell rang. As they got separated Hayleigh gave Mariposa a deathly stare, a promise of what was coming.

The bell rang, and with the official beginning to the match all agression was now allowed. Mariposa decided to go all cautious and start circling around the blonde. Always expecting Hayleigh to be the one taking the initiative, some things never change. When she noticed that, Jorogumo made her rival a “come here” sign, raising her arms while circling against Mariposa, inviting her to a test of strength. In her gaze there would be challenge and that mockingly tone Hayleigh always used around her old rival.

The tension between them was palpable. The stood so close to each other that their foreheads touched, trying to push the others back and win the first psychological battle of the match. Yet just when it seemed that the two were about to brawl right then and there before the bell even rings, the referee quickly stepped in and separated the two. Though that would probably be the only interference she would do for this match. With the rules set, all the striped lady needed to do was hold a microphone and let the two women in front of her tear themselves apart.

Mariposa backed away without ever breaking eye contact, with Hayleigh doing the same. When the bell would finally ring the two women would circle each other like a pair of feuding wolves. That is until Hayleigh made a come hither gesture with her fingers, and Mariposa couldn’t help but click her tongue and accept the obvious invitation wholeheartedly.

There she would try to lock her hands with the blondes in a test of strength. And if all went well and Hayleigh actually let her do it without some ulterior motive in mind. Then the luchadora would attempt to push with all of her might! Either pushing the blonde down to the ground or back towards the ropes. Usually she wouldn’t resort to strength moves like this. But with someone like the jorogumo, she was willing to make an exception.

As it has always been when near Mariposa the situation was tense and with the constant threat of escalation. It was almost as if both women had such incompatible characters that when they met they were forced to fight no matter what. Now that the match had started the referee wouldn’t interfere as she had done before. All forms of agression were allowed and justified in order to get the rival to say the magic words ‘I quit’.

Both wrestlers circled around each other. Everyone watching from the stands could think the fighters would be assessing each other and trying to predict their moves, but Spider and Mariposa knew each other well. If Mariposa was playing cautious it would be up to Hayleigh to make her move, and she just did that by provoking her. That wasn’t a careless move from the blonde though, she was tricking Mariposa.

Both women locked hands together and a test of strength began. Hayleigh knew for certain that brute force wasn’t exactly her rival’s main strength, but as she was expecting when facing her despised rival Mariposa would go all out. Hayleigh wasn’t so sure about her chances of beating Mariposa in a test of strength like that, but it wasn’t on her plans either. Instead what Jorogumo did was to go on one knee on the mat, pretending to look defeated and weakened, and just before Mariposa could make her final push Hayleigh twisted her body so she could use her rival’s downwards momentum and throw her with a kneeling over the shoulder throw!

Mariposa wasn’t stupid. She came to the test of strength ready to bolt out of any surprise attack that might have made her way from her deceptive opponent. Yet surprisingly, no such thing came and the two women’s fingers would tangle together as they soon began to push against one another in a test of strength! The luchadora putting all of her strength into the test so that she could show Hayleigh just who the stronger of the two were.

But there was something wrong. Sure she was pushing her back, but despite wanting to prove that she’s become the stronger of the two. She still knew that her and Hayleigh were nearly equal in strength. So the fact that she was pushing her back and so easily was ringing massive alarm bells inside of the luchadora’s head. But before she could act on these suspicions, Hayleigh would suddenly drop to her knees. Seemingly overpowered by the luchadora.

Only for the ruse to finally be revealed as in a split second Mariposa was flipped over head in a shoulder throw! The move surprised her and forced a grunt to escape her lips as she hit the canvas, but she would quickly use her momentum to roll into a crouched position and turn herself around. Glaring at Hayleigh for the trick. In truth it didn’t really hurt or do that much damage but the luchadora knew that this was a win for the blondes book.

Because it meant she could still trick her.

Re: La Mariposa vs Hayleigh Hayashibara "Jorogumo" - I Quit Match

Unread post by UnusuallyTallJawa »

Normally a match between two high-skilled high-profile wrestlers like Hayleigh and Mariposa would start with more caution from each of the contestants, most likely with some non-threatening and not so risky moves that would help the fighters assess the rival’s skills, strengths and weaknesses. That wasn’t neccesary between the Spider and the Butterfly since they were old rivals, ring enemies to be more precise. Both of them knew really well how to approach their rival, and in Hayleigh’s case she really knew how to annoy Mariposa and trick her.

Hayleigh’s ruse was effective and after not so much time the blonde threw her rival over her shoulder and to the mat, but even if Mariposa was caught by surprise she knew well what she couldn’t allow Jorogumo to do. That was why the brunette quickly used the throwing momentum to reduce the hit against the canvas and crouch and roll far from Hayleigh’s reach so the blonde couldn’t follow up with some painful submission move or strike. “Tch”, Hayleigh looked at her rival with a grimace that implied how she was happy about outwitting Mariposa but also disappointed in how her rival could quickly adapt and get the least damage done, not leaving any chance for a follow up.

After that instant of reset Hayleigh would raise her arms again, inviting Mariposa to another test of strength with a grin on her face, all aware of the situation. Was she faking it out again or would the blonde go all out that time? Only if Mariposa would accept the duel she would know when Hayleigh would push with all her strength, adding her forehead to the equation as she pressed it againts Mariposa’s in order to get the upper hand.
