Demon vs Goddess: Byleth Eisner vs Ishtar Vasiliev

Ishtar fired her fist and connected with Byleth's head, but she took it and kept on choking. Ishtar was about to punch again, as per her plan, but then she noticed Byleth adjusting her positioning to make the angle Ishtar would have to punch at as awkward as possible, thus sapping the punch of its power. Damn, this women is good, Ishtar thought to herself.

But all was not doom and gloom for the Russian. Even if she wasn't free, she was pushing Byleth away enough to somewhat weaken her chokehold. Plus Ishtar had thought of something new to do with her free hand. Instead of punch, Ishtar would grab. Specifically Byleth's throat. Ishtar would try to counter choke her opponent, taking Byleth's throat in her powerful grip and bending in her thumb to press down on Byleth's windpipe with her knuckle. Let's see how you like getting choked, Ishtar thought.

Byleth was being stubborn with her hold sure, but it looked like Ishtar was going to make this a test of power and endurance. Something Byleth knew she was beat in. Ishtar's counter to the hold was unorthodox to say the least. Choking Byleth back in the head. Seemingly putting them both in a deadlock, ending when one of them decided to let go of the hold. That or one of them succumbed to the lack of air.

Not being one for sustaining long lasting injury. Byleth let out a pained cough as she released Ishtar from the hold. Using her free arms to get Ishtar to weaken her grip, and eventually releasing Byleth. Byleth now using this time to retreat from Ishtar essentially resetting their interaction.
That... was something new Byleth said breathing heavily, not sure what to make of the countermeasures Ishtar had

As Ishtar and Byleth both tried to choke each other out, it would end up being the professor who backed off first. She released her chokehold so she could have her arms free to break Ishtar's choke. With the two having separated, Byleth backed off, and Ishtar took the opportunity to rise to her feet. She chuckled at Byleth's reaction.

"Hey, I took what I could get. What can I say?" Ishtar said as got back into her wrestling stance. Both wrestlers seemed to realize the danger of their opponent. Either one of them could end the match in a moment if the other messed up. Ishtar approached cautiously. She would try to stay just at the edge of Byleth's range, deciding she would rather try to counter than initiate.

Despite leaving that double chokehold. Byleth still needed to be careful, Ishtar was more than willing to try and power through anything she did. That meant Byleth needed to take another approach to all of this. With that said Byleth was eager to start things up once again. Slowly inching closer towards Ishtar, Byleth wanted to close the distance with wide boxing hook. Aimed right on Ishtar's temple, the move was meant to only be a fake.

A very good looking fake at that. Byleth was going to hold this hook just until the very last moment, that or if Ishtar reacted in kind. Showing her hand, Byleth would shoot low and try to sweep at both of Ishtar's legs to take her down. Keeping the pressure on Byleth would try to catch Ishtar's legs. Hoping to tie them with her legs and drop back on the mat. Trying to lock in a figure four leg lock.

Ishtar and Byleth inched closer and closer to each other until Byleth decided to restart the action. She opened with a right hook and Ishtar's head, which she ducked. It was by luck that Ishtar chose to evade the hook in a way that lowered her eyes, otherwise she wouldn't have seen Byleth's true attack. A leg sweep.

The feint into the sweep was executed smoothly and quickly enough that Ishtar didn't have enough time to avoid it, but she was at least ready for when it hit. As she fell, Ishtar would kick off on the mat to create distance between Byleth and herself, and allow herself to roll away so she could get back to her feet to defend herself before Byleth could close in for a follow up attempt.

"People are usually surprised by my skill since they see my power and think I'm a brute, but your technique really is on another level," said Ishtar. "How much are those lessons you teach?" she would ask. Byleth had been successful in handling Ishtar going on both the offensive and the defensive, with Ishtar already needing to slip from the clutches of near disaster twice already.

Ishtar would decided to try attacking again, but at a slower pace. She would throw out a snap jab at Byleth's head and follow it with a quick kick at Byleth's leg. Two quick, light attacks that would be very difficult to counter. But even Ishtar's light attacks still had solid power behind them, and she wanted to use that to chip away at Byleth. Even if they were blocked, they would still be felt. And if they connected, then it would be even better.

Byleth's fake out worked wonders, letting her sweep at Ishtar's feet which took her down. While she couldn't respond to the sweep Ishtar was ready for the fall and rolled out of the way in time. Byleth was honestly surprised at how many times Ishtar managed to get away. It wasn't like she leveraged everything on her power.

Lessons? I didn't think you needed them with your movements. Byleth said as an unaware compliment. Now allowing Ishtar to try and start her own offensive. Byleth's plan now would be to wait and try to find a chink in Ishtar's gameplan. Meeting the snap jab with a block, despite it being a jab it hurt really stung just guarding it.

The same would be with Ishtar's leg attack, it wasn't enough to take out Byleth's leg. But enough where she could manage to play as if it did more damage. Buckling in her stance, Byleth was sure that Ishtar would take the moment to rush her. Not aware of her deception.

"You're never too good to stop learning. At least that's how I see it," said Ishtar as she began her attack. Her jab was blocked, as expected. But Ishtar caught Byleth react with a quick wince of pain when her fist hit her opponent's arm. Her kick however, seemed to really do something. After it connected, Byleth's knee buckled on her, forcing her off balance.

Ishtar was not going to let this opportunity pass her by, but she also knew that she couldn't be too cautious with this woman if she tried. Big moves could wait until Byleth was either on her back or in Ishtar's grasp. So Ishtar would go for a low-high kick. The first low kick would go into the same leg that she had hit before to take it out completely and drop Byleth down to knee. Then the second high kick would be aimed at Byleth's chest, with the goal of pushing her onto her back.

If Byleth started falling backwards after the second kick, then Ishtar would fully commit to going in. She would follow Byleth down to ground, trying to get on top of the professor before her back even hit the ground if she could. Then Ishtar would go for some ground and pound on Byleth, looking to get some big swings in on her head.

After that, Ishtar try to grab one of Byleth's arms and swing to the side. She would then wrap her thighs around Byleth's arm, rest her legs across the professor's chest, lay back, and thrust her hips up to try to force Byleth's surrender to an armbar.

Byleth was correct to think that Ishtar would rush her once seeing her chance. Though it seemed that Ishtar would exercise more patients here. Looking to confirm her moment, shooting another kick. This time actually buckling Byleth's legs and dropping to one knee. Seeing the second kick come at her chest Byleth's arms came up immediately to guard it. Though while blocked that would still send Byleth back to the mat.

Ishtar wouldn't waste this moment, looking to mount Byleth for a ground and pound. The first punch would come in heavy and snap Byleth's head to the side. Causing a considerable amount of damage, but that was not all. Despite the blow landing, Byleth managed to grab Ishtar's ankle, lifting it up slightly so that her leg could go under it. Meanwhile the other leg would come over and trap the ankle and put it in between her legs. Needing to escape quickly Byleth pushed her upper leg down. Creating leverage between herself and Ishtar also attempting to shimey her hips to the other side. Now it was just a matter of using her elbow to get her other leg free. Essentially having her legs wrapped around Ishtar's body.

As Ishtar went for a second punch, Byleth narrowly blocked it with one arm. Despite the stinging of her arm she needed to continue. Next Byleth grabbed the punching arm and yanked it to the other side of face. Using her newfound leverage, Byleth would flex her abs and bring her legs up to Ishtar's head. Positioning the leg next to her face, now Byleth grabbing this arm would use both her legs to choke Ishtar out.

Ishtar fired her second kick into Byleth's leg. It connected, forcing her down to one knee. Then Ishtar fired her second kick into Byleth's chest. It was blocked, but it still had enough force behind it to push Byleth down onto her back as intended. Now, it was time for Ishtar to go in for the kill. She might not get another chance like this to beat Byleth.

Ishtar came down with a big punch that landed clean, knocking Byleth's head to the side. She felt Byleth's legs and hips shaking and squirming under her, but Ishtar wasn't worried about that. She was worried about her attack. Byleth managed to absorb the impact of Ishtar's second punch with one arm, then grab it with her other arm. But that just left her completely open to Ishtar's third punch.

A third punch that wouldn't come.

"WHAT!?" Ishtar cried out in shock and disbelief as Byleth had somehow gotten her legs up around her head. "HOW!?" Ishtar asked as she was pulled down by her head and locked into a triangle chokehold. Byleth had gotten to Ishtar's throat for a second time, and Ishtar had to act fast before it was too late. Gathering her free arm and her legs, Ishtar got into as good a three point stance as she could considering her position, gathered her strength, and burst forward. Her goal was to push ahead and reach over Byleth for the ropes behind her to escape.

Ishtar must’ve thought that the match was her to win after being able to mount Byleth. Hard to not think you got it after landing clean punch to someones face. But that someone was Byleth who was showing her utter mastery of the field with this counter and reversal. Taking everything Ishtar was giving her and making it her own. If taking a punch meant she could end the match here. Byleth would consider that a good trade in her book.

Luckily she turned things around and locked in this triangle choke hold. Once again choking Ishtar out, and it wasn’t like she could brute force her way in a counter. All that was left was either submitting or going for the ropes. Ishtar went for the second option using her stance to drag herself and Byleth across the mat.

Honestly Byleth wasn’t quite sure that she could stop Ishtar. It was like she was an endless pool of energy. But Byleth was a realistic woman, so this thought was tossed out immedeadtly. Now she just wanted to tack on as much damage as she could. Byleth jerked Ishtar’s body essentially applying more pressure and damage. Just to be safe in case if Ishtar touched the ropes for a break. Byleth would let go of Ishtar to get herself up. Not before throwing an elbow to Ishtar’s head. Then rolling herself back up.
Well, it looks like we are going for a third take. You sure are built tough Byleth said completely unbothered about the situation.
