A Faithful Encounter

Unread post by dddybee »

Samantha's Causal Theme
Location: A Local Bar, relatively near LAW

Samantha Gang didn't quite know where to take her journey in LAW from here. She currently only had a few matches under her belt, with mixed results. She'd also been the perpetrator of two backstage ambushes, both of which had gone poorly. Both times she had just gotten beaten down and smothered by a passersby's backside, and being smothered in general was something Sam particularly disliked, even feared. As a result, she had finally decided to no longer attack anyone unprovoked! Hooray for her! But the problem is what "provokes" us varies from person to person. Sam may no longer attack someone for more or less no reason, BUT she definitely didn't need a GOOD reason to get triggered and violent with anyone.

This of course, was largely due to the troubled woman's past. Due to a murderous home invasion, she was left an orphan, at a tragically young age. The orphanage she lived in was a toxic and neglectful environment, leading her to eventually run a way. Before joining LAW and changing the worst part of her ways, Sam had lived her life as a street ruffian. Thankfully, Sam had gotten in contact with a therapist since then, who was dedicated to putting Ms. Gang in a better state of mind.

That being said, despite being her only current friend, Sam didn't always listen to her therapist. In particular, the gang girl had been advised to take it easy on drinking. However, the woman was perhaps getting a wee bit to drunk at the bar table, drinking the alcoholic beverages, while battling thoughts in her mind. Those thoughts being how faith seemed to always unfairly deal her a nasty hand.

Sam was an envious individual, seeing folks better off than her everywhere she looked. In particular though, Ms. Gang was far from the only "bad girl" in LAW. From rookies, to veterans, to straight up champions alike, the wrestling industry was full of mean-spirited, sadistic, cruel, malicious, remorseless and downright sociopathic individuals. Many of them were fellow heels that made Sam look tame by comparison, but that was the problem.

Other baddies were more threatening and successful, because they had note-worthy wrestling skill. In contrast, Sam 's actual wrestling skills were.....relatively subpar. To compensate, The Infamous Cheater was heavily reliant on.....cheating. But arguably, the scared art of cheating was best used as a compliment to a skillful wrestling style. Samantha didn't have one of those, because cheating WAS her whole style. Perhaps faith could look past or even reward a broken moral compass, as long as the holder of that compass was a skillful, hard worker. That thought just made Samantha want to find faith, and kick it in the balls.

Sam was currently using alcohol to numb these thoughts, while acting not the most friendly, towards the hard working bar tender. She finished up another drink, before slamming another bottle on the counter's edge, breaking even more glass all over the floor. "H-Hey! AEY! Another one over here, sl-slowpoke!" She snapped, banging her fist on the counter. And due to her drinking, she was stumbling on some words. "Oh, and g-goodness me! A bunch of glass seems to have...sp-spontaneously appeared on the ground! So ya maaaaaay wanna get to sweeping t-too! Ahahaha!" Though diligent, the bar tender was a pushover, and the place of was pretty empty. So there was no one else around for Samantha to interact with, who may try to check her behavior, at least for now...

Isaiah had a lot of things to think about...

His career, hell, his life, like many, has had it's ups and downs, From being literally afraid of women, to the darkness, yet hope of the Old Prophet, to the foolishness of the Sheepherder, and now as the New Prophet. Isaiah career-wise had been through the ringer, but one thing remained constant:

Faith

"When Faith Endures" had been his slogan, nay, his battle cry for a long time, it was the same call that gave the smothering princess Daisy her first loss in LAW. possibly his greatest achievement thus far in LAW. Yes, his career had it's ups and downs, but, on this day, he wanted to forget all that. After his morning workout, he decided to hit the local bar, a popular watering hole for the LAW wrestlers. Best part was, since the place was so popular with wrestlers, he could wear his gear in the bar. He decided to be decent about it and wear his entrance clothes. Plus, his alma mater Notre Dame's first football game was today, so it seemed appropriate to wear his Blue and Gold...

He walked in and only saw one other girl, and judging by the way she dressed, she was either some street hoodlum, or another wrestler. Not wanting to cause any trouble, Isaiah decided to sit opposite of the woman, "The Prophet, eh? What can I get you?" the bartender asked Isaiah, "A shot of whiskey, please. Tennessee whiskey, preferably." The bartender seemed to happily oblige. He pored his shot and slid it to Isaiah, who slowly sipped at it, hoping to enjoy himself a bit before heading home. The Bible he used in his entrance as the Prophet peeked out of his coat pocket. He had no idea why he had it, especially in a bar. Maybe as a sign to others about who he was and still is: The Holy One of LAW.

Soon enough, the bar would finally have another customer, in the form of Isaiah Bowen. The average looking man caught Samantha's eye, especially since he seemed to intentionally try to avoid her. The gangster-themed wrestler had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, this meant her presence was intimidating enough, to convince this man to play it safe. On the other hand, Isaiah's attempts to prevent an interaction also rubbed her the wrong way. Perhaps, it was because she was lonely deep down, and really didn't have the desire to be ignored, at least on a psychological level.

However, as unruly as she could be, Samantha still may not have said anything. But then she noticed the book Isaiah was carrying in his coat pocket. Though it was mostly concealed, Ms. Gang could vaguely remember that her late father used to carry around something like that. With her curiosity peeked, Sam would obviously address Isaiah in the most mature, reasonable, and civil way possible......by throwing one of her bottles near him. The bottle crashed with a noisy shatter on the counter that Isaiah was sitting at, undoubtedly getting the man's attention.

"H-Hey! You there!" Sam loudly yelled, despite the fact the two were still in relatively close proximity. "Ha! Y-You have some nerve walking into M-MY bar, without so much as a single: 'S-Sup!' " After vocalizing her annoyance at Isaiah's avoidance, she leaned back, throwing her feet up on the counter in front of her. "But anyhow, p-punk. What do ya have sticking outta your pocket there? Just comin' from the library, n-nerd, I presume?"

Isaiah just wanted to grab a shot and get out, but, that plan was soon shattered by a bottle thrown at him. Thankfully it missed and only hit the counter next to him, "Nice throw, Greg Maddux..." commented Isaiah annoyingly. Isaiah would hear this lady shout, or slur at him for what seem like an hour, but, after her rambling, he did understand what she was inquiring, "Actually, ma'am, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen this particular book in a library..." He took out the old, dusty Bible, "I'm sure you've seen this book before, but, judging by the looks of things, it doesn't mean much to you, but, for me, it has defined my career thus far. I'm a wrestler, you see. I am what happens When Faith Endures" Those last three words still put a tingle down his spine...

Samantha listened to Isaiah's response. Since she had vaguely recalled her late father carrying around a Bible like that, Samantha was annoyed by Isaiah's fair assumption that it wouldn't mean much to her. "I'll d-determine what means much a-and what means little, m-mister." She grumbled, but she was more bothered by the New Prophet's mention of faith. Ms. Gang had quite a troubled past, so the idea of living life with the confidence that things will eventually improve made absolutely zero sense to her. More focused at the moment, she shook off her drunken stupor, before continuing to respond.

"Psssh. I'm a wrestler as well. The name's Samantha Gang, oh faithful one." She mocked. "How naive can ya be, chump? In life you can get screwed over, A THOUSAND TIMES OVER, with absolutely no sign of any hope whatsoever. WheN fAiTh eNdUrEs? Please! How has that ever applied to you mister......?"

Isaiah raised an eyebrow as it seemed, at least for a second, that his harasser was beginning to sober up, but, she was just as aggressive as before. After being questioned about faith, just as calm, cool and collective as ever, explained, "You basically answered your own question, Samantha. Faith has a funny way of...enduring, even in the toughest of times. Schmid, Shioko, Snjor, Herrera, Merriweather, Saadia, Daisy. All know who I was and still am today: THE HOLY ONE OF LAW!" Isaiah didn't mean to shout, but, he tends to get impassioned about certain things...

Despite Samantha's aggressive attitude, Isaiah seemed to keep his cool around the rude woman, at least initially. She continued to get annoyed as Isaiah talked about faith enduring, regardless of how tough things could get. In Sam's mind, he had no right to say such a thing. Sam believed the trials and tribulations she'd suffered through, made anybody else's problems seem trivial by comparison. Whatever this man's so called faith had gotten him through must have been easy, at least in her eyes. That being said faith HAD put Samantha in a better position than she was before, although the troubled woman hadn't come to terms with this yet.

Before Isaiah inadvertently did some screaming of his own, he had gone through a list of people. Samantha could only assume these people were folks this self-proclaimed holy man had managed to defeat in combat. "OH YEAH! WELL-..." Samantha stopped, hearing Isaiah mention Daisy, who had violently foiled one of her pervious, backstage ambushes. Beating her was certainly an impressive feat to Samantha, though she wouldn't admit this directly. "D-Daisy Petals? I seeee." Samantha puzzled, before smirking, thinking of a way to challenge Isaiah here. "And uh, what about the amount of people you have lost to, how have your faithful delusions stacked up there......?"

Isaiah shook his head in annoyance, "I have told you already, and you did not hear, wherefore would you hear it again? Will you also be my disciple?"* Isaiah asked, knowing full well such a response would probably instigate the already flustered drunk in front of him. He finished his shot and began to leave, "Faith Endures. That's all you need to know about me. If you are through with the questionnaire, I'll be going now. Good day, madam..." Isaiah began to walk out the bar, hoping that this would be the end of it...

* FYI, this is lifted directly from John Chapter 9

Danger Theme
Instead of giving Samantha a direct answer, Isaiah became defensive, moving around the woman's question. No doubt his losses indeed surpassed his wins, and Samantha was about to call him out on this. However, after spitting out more of what Sam considered to be nonsense, Isaiah simply dismissed her and began to leave. This indirectness and dismissiveness enraged Samantha, and she choose violence.

Samantha also quickly gulped down her last drink, before using the empty bottle as a weapon. With surprising speed, giving her drunken state, Samantha rushed up behind Isaiah's back. She smashed her empty bottle on the back of his head, shattering the glass on impact. Immediately after, Sam also kicked both of Isaiah's legs from behind, knocking the stuck man down onto his knees. To finish her assault, Samantha got right in front of the downed man, still holding the broken bottle. Like how one would use a knife, Samantha used the bottle's razor-sharp edges to threaten Isaiah, holding the bottle dangerously close to his neck.

"Listen you self-righteous punk!" She fumed. "You ain't leaving this here bar, without my thumbs up. I've been through too much crap to hear you talk about faith, and fail to back it up with such confusing and unsatisfying answers. See, I'm much more of an action type of girl. I'll take responsibility for creating this conflict, BUT HOW WILL FAITH SAVE YOU HERE?" Samantha wasn't planning on SERVERELY harming Isaiah, but figured her violent and threatening display would be enough to shake up the faith of the prophet-themed wrestler.

Isaiah was just about to step out when he felt a bottle crash on the back of his head, followed by a kick to the back of his knees, making him kneel. Samantha yelled at him that only she could say when he left, and holding the broken bottle next to his neck. Isaiah would be lying if he said that this didn't scare him a bit. but, after her drunken challenge of how faith was going to save him here, he smiled, "You tell me!" He than used the Bible to swat the bottle out of Sam's hands, making the bottle drop to the floor and shatter into pieces. Isaiah now knew two things for certain, one, he was probably going to be in a match soon, and two, it would be the most useless match in his career, as it seemed Sam was the textbook definition of a lost cause. It seemed that his conscience had made a decision, because as if on auto pilot, he was in the traditional Prophet pose, with the Bible in the right hand, though it did feel weird not having something in the left. Isaiah was half-wondering if Sam would pull out a gun...
