The Start of.. Something. (for Scourger X)

Deku couldn’t explain how or why, but the fsct that Kotone was interested, heck even excited about his mom being a wrestler had filled him with joy. Honestly he didn’t quite know the right way to explain it, he had expected for her to be put off or tease him, but the excitment he saw brimming in his eyes filled him with the same energy.

”Yeah she’s been my hero since I could remember!” He said excitedly, all pretenses of nervousness or awkwardness gone from his shoulders as he started to go fanboy mode. Hopefully he didn’t overwhelm her with his own excitment, the fact she mentioned she had seen his mother in action once. “Wow really? Hey if you want I have some of her old matches on tape if you’re interested!” He said excitedly before blinking at her follow up question.

He had been training since he was a kid, and met a handfull of wrestlers, but none of particular fame or anything. Even so Kotone he felt wouldn’t care much, and seemed like she’d enjoy whatever he told her. “Haha Yeah I guess so. I’ve never really thought about it much honestly. And sorta? I mean I’ve known a few people that have been pros but most were middle of the road types you know? No one particularly famous except for one person hehe.” He admitted with a chuckle and a scratch of the back or his head. He did wish he could tell her some crazy fantastic stories about wrestlers he had met, but he just didn’t have them. Hopefully she was satisfied with what he could tell her though.

"You bet that I wanna watch them!" Kotone was absolutely ecstatic upon being presented with the possibility to look at some of Deku's old tapes. She wanted to learn much more from the boy and his family, from what growing up must have been to him, and the stories that he could tell her.

Once he revealed that he did knew quite a bunch of wrestlers during his life. Kotone had to stop herself from asking him all about it. "Well, it might not be much for you, but for a newbie like me, you're almost starting to look like a celebrity yourself" The bluenette laughed after calling Midoriya a celebrity, a small quip at his expense. She thought that perhaps they were at that level of closeness.

"But do tell me, what's like to be the actual thing? Is it mundane to you at this point?" She asked, getting a bit more serious for the moment.

She was excited. She was really excited at the possibility of nerding out with him over his mom and other old wrestlers. It was like meeting a fan of a anime no one else watched for the first time! Someone he can share all his thoughts and views with and vice versa. It was a incredible feeling he couldn’t quite put into words. ”That’s awesome I can definitely bring them over sometime!” He said excitedly with a eager smile on his face.

As they continued talking though she teased him,
calling him a celebrity making him chuckle bashfully with a slight blush. Though it was much better than how he would normally react if it were a stranger calling him that. “Haha I guess though I really don’t know anyone THAT interesting.” He said once again but still in a calm tone, responding to the light tease in a just as amicable tone as the one she used.

However he would blink at the sudden tone change from the girl as she leaned forward with a interesting question. “Oh hmm I’m really not sure honestly, or rather I haven’t really thought about it.” He said humming in thought before leaning forward. “I wouldn’t call it mundane. If anything its almost more nerve wracking, for me at least. It feels like there’s lot a more expectations for me, or like I have a lot to live up too because of my training and history you know?” He asked curiously not exactly sure if Kotone could relate or not but doing his best to put things into words.

Indeed, it was pretty weird for Kotone as well to find someone as "geeky" as she was. For her, Deku was a welcomed change to her life, after all, not only was he genuinely friendly (if a little bit of a pushover really). But he was also someone that shared her interest in one of her great interests! She was almost tempted to ask him if he was also a singer or songwriter just to be sure that it was too good to be true. "I would like to see them, yeah. Maybe we can hang out sometime, would love to meet some of your friends"

Things didn't go as she planned when she asked him about how it was to be in this world since he was a child. He talked about his insecurities and how he felt that he needed to live u to some standards. She could relate, very painfully, she could relate. At least it didn't looked like he was deeply hurted by that memory, so perhaps it was an afterthought for him, but she did knew that he was pretty meek, and she would hate it if she managed to bring up some of his insecurities.

"Oh... Well, you weren't doing that badly out there! I would say that you're doing pretty good for the moment, Deku" She tried to lift him up with a slight smile. Right after this, she couldn't help but to look down and exhale, remembering some unpleasant things herself. "Sorry if I made you remember something that made you blue"

Deku hadn’t really been sure of what to think of Kotone’s question, sure it caused him to think about himself somewhat more critically, but he wasn’t upset about it. If anything he was more neutral to it as a whole than anything. After all what he said was the truth, and ironically he was actually pretty secure about his own sef criticisms, but it seems as if his outward expression betrayed this as Kotone seemed upset that she had upset him.

Immediately upon recognizing he held his hands up with his best attempt at an easy going smile. ”No no no its ok! Really its actually kinda good to analyze yourself like that sometimes ya know?” He said trying to assure her he took no offense to what she said beofre immediately deciding to focus in on what she said before. “But yeah we should definitely hang out! I’m sure you’d have some friends I could meet as well!” He said with a smile as he leaned forward.

Right now, Kotone's reaction was not exactly one of glee, she knew that Deku didn't wanted to make her feel like that, so she really didn't thought badly of him for it. Still, it actually managed to upset her enough for her melancholy to show, and it was apparent enough that the boy appeared to see this. Once he caught up on this, he told her something about self-critic, finishing it up with an invitation to hang out another time.

"Mmmh, that sounds good for me, I would love to meet your friends if they are half as interesting as you are" She replied with a slightly more cheerful tone. She thought about his words. Perhaps she needed some self appreciation to grow as a person and as a wrestler. At least she appreciated Midoriya's words. She really didn't wanted to say to him that she wasn't exactly popular. But who knew? Perhaps one day she would make some friends to show him...

Deku gulped slightly really freling like he had done something to hurt or put off Kotone. Granted she seemed to be trying to play if off, so she likely wasn’t upset at him, but still he couldn’t help but want to make things better. Even if a bit, thankfully him bringing up meeting his friends seemed to cheer her up a bit so perhaps he could roll with this a bit. ”Yeah I’m sure itd be great, hey you know at some point we should also have a rematch as well.” he suggested with a bright look on his face, actually genuinely interested in another match with Kotone.

Yes, even if he innocently caused Kotone to feel down, Deku still tried to cheer her up with an invitation to meet his friends, which looked pretty good if she said so herself. And that wasn't counting that she also liked the plain-looking guy, even if just as a friend for the moment. Still, she wasn't one to have lots of friends, so she would make sure to treasure the ones she had.

He also even offered for another match, making her smile again, the idea was fun! And this gave her a good opportunity to be tease him like she would always do with the people she liked. "What? You enjoyed our match? Want me to sit on you gain?" She laughed at his flustered expression, only to make that laugh lower and lower until it was a warm giggle. "I would love to fight you again Deku-kun, that was the most fun I've had in a long time" She said, being completely honest with her feelings.

Deku immediately blushed as he heard Kotone’s response as he scratched the back of his sheepishly. He was half way sure that the girl was just teasing him, at least based upon on the warm ringing of her giggle. But still he couldn’t help but be a but flustered. ”Ahahaha w-w-well I m-mean y-you’re just a great o-opponet and you’re well yeah it wasn’t..” his stuttering would slowly fade as he heard her giggles turn into a warm laughter which made him smile softly in response as he heard her genuine response.

Smiling in return, immediately feeling relief at her response he nodded in exchange to the girl. “Same here. Don’t take this the wrong way but this time I’m going to win.” He said in probably the most confident tone he had used since the two had met as he offered his hand to the girl for a friendly handshake.

If it wasn't obvious, Kotone was kind of a troll, and if Deku was about to become her friend, he would have to learn to live with that. At the same time, she knew when people was completely serious. And the moment he responded to her acceptance with security, she stopped her laughs and turned a face of seriousness as well, although she still was rather excited by this whole ordeal.

"I know that you will, but I won't be losing either" She said, corresponding to his handshake. This would be the start of a rather interesting relationship... If not for something else...
