Blair clenched her teeth, forcing her weary body to move. It wasn't going to come easy - it felt like she was dragging a heavy weight behind her, and she could tell she was going to feel sore from it come the next morning. But the alternative was being counted out of the match, and that was something that Blair simply couldn't afford. She was willing to put up with whatever she might need to, as long as she could still win!
As she lay there, propped up on one shoulder and panting for breath...Blair was faced with silence. The referee didn't know how to proceed - by getting her shoulder up, Blair had confirmed she was still conscious. But she wasn't standing, and on the strictest definition of a match like this, that wouldn't be enough. The timekeeper entered the ring, and the count was paused as the two officials went back and forth about what this meant. Neither of them seemed to reach a decision.
Blair groaned at the thought of it. She'd been this close to claiming a win from the clutch, and now she wouldn't even get that! She balled her fist at her side, hissing under her breath. If it was going to be necessary...she'd have to go the extra mile.
Pushing herself off the mat, Blair forced herself back onto her feet. Her legs felt like they were burning, but she forced them into place. She shuddered, her teeth clenched as she teetered back and forth on tenuous footing, and she clutched at her arm to try and bear through the pain. Blair groaned under her breath just from the exertion of getting up, but slowly, she straightened her back, looking back toward the two officials.
Seeing Blair power through the pain and fight her way to her feet caused the crowd to cheer for her even harder - and it was this noise that caught the ref's attention. She turned back toward the source of the sound, and she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Blair standing on her feet. It seemed there was no need for deliberation after all! Walking over to her side, she held up Blair's arm in triumph - though for the Muay Thai fighter, it was more than enough just to have her there for support.
"And here is your winner, and the last one standing - BLAIR YUEN!"
