LAW Magazine Writers

Unread post by Devilish53 »

These characters are purely to add a little more depth and character when writing articles for the LAW magazine. As writers, they are free for public use (not as wrestlers, all are retired).Their personalities, approach to writing etc are merely guides, and do not have to be strictly adhered to. Using these is merely a preferable option in my mind to simply having articles written by no-name authors. I also think it'd be natural to have the same writers cover stories of the same arc, the same wrestler over and over etc.

======================================

Claire Garcia

Former Wrestler Profile

Personality
A loving, kind figure, Claire only wrestles for fun. Easily made friends of, Claire is rarely to find a reason to anger, and can often enough be greatly seductive to boot.

Preferred Articles
Interviews, above all else.

Approach To Writing
Doesn't shy away from asking questions she feels need to be asked - she can be ruthless, but she considers it fair in the world of journalism. She isn't afraid to question the morality of a heels actions, or suggest weakness in a overly friendly-faces intentions. She believes the reader/viewer should fully understand the individual she is interviewing by the time said interview is done.

===

Tessa Malore

Former Wrestler Profile

Personality
Tessa is a mostly silent character, yet humble-she rarely shows signs of aggression or stress; often breaking her usual silence to congratulate an opponent on a move or victory. She doesn't care much for trash talk, and it can often easily affect her-changing her from her usual competitive silent self to a much more aggressive, threatening buxom wrestler. She is easily to both befriend and offend, and rarely forgets her enemies, although would rarely go out of her way to attack them.

Preferred Articles
Match and feud reviews. Being a somewhat former successful wrestler herself, it is only natural that Tessa is still fascinated by the simpler sides to wrestling. She enjoys following feuds start to end.

Approach To Writing
Tessa has a very approachable style to her writing, and doesn't over convey detail or information where she feels it isn't needed. That being said, she enjoys laying out every fact she can when approaching match reviews, character profiles or such. She enjoys a good list, to note whom has done what be it in regard to feuds or otherwise.

===

Asura

Former Wrestler Profile

Personality
Domineering yet coy, Asura is as gorgeous as she is aware of her beauty. More than happy to let her figure and looks gain her progress in the world, Asura has next to no time for those that would move against her. And even less for those with figures to match her own.

Preferred Articles
Articles focused on the sexier side of LAW - Hentai match reviews, photoshoots, or merely articles on the appearance of a wrestler.

Approach To Writing
Asura has taken up amateur writing since her forte into the world of LAW, and has since become decent at it. Her writing is rather signature
- it is somewhat easy to tell when a article is written by her. Namely because of the fact Asura does not shy away from the more provocative side of language, and has little issue with straight-to-the-point comments about the appearance of superstars. Simply put, her works are rarely safe for work.

===

Michelle Saunders

Former Wrestler Profile

Personality
Bubbly and then some, Michelle is nigh impossible to annoy. Filled to the brim with a great sense of humour, pride in her work, yet careful of her figures curves when not performing, Michelle is the very definition of a babyface character. That being said, she is not above throwing remarks of a similar standard back, especially when facing opponents who simply do not cease in trying to get the busty New Zealander down.

Preferred Articles
Buzzfeed style articles and novelty works.

Approach To Writing
Michelle's goofball attitude carries forward into her writing. She is aware that writing in the world of wrestling can become very serious, so looks to offer the other side of such - with fun, wacky articles often exaggerated simply to tickle the viewer. She rarely seeks to offend, and would rather not write the article rather than risk doing so.

Nanako "Nana" Sen
Spoiler
Image
Personality
Nana is a grad student at Tokyo University majoring in Sports Journalism! She is also Tokyo University's Amateur Joshi Club Locker Room Manager. She has a seemingly bottomless well of enthusiasm for the sport! She has very little talent when it comes to wrestling, and so she participates in the best way she knows how. By generating hype!

Preferred Articles:

Hype pieces talking up new wrestlers, upcoming events, or emerging feuds!

Approach To Writing:
She is a fan girl! As such her articles are often colorful and full of flowery words! If you want your upcoming match to sound spectacular, she's the girl to go to! She is hyperbolic and enthusiastic! Not to mention a bit of a lech!

Eiji Matsumoto
Spoiler
Image
Personality: Eiji is a veteran sportswriter who's been in the business for three decades. This gave him the credentials to secure his place as a prominent writer and editor for LAW Magazine, but it also meant that he's rather behind the times and doesn't understand a more modern perspective. He isn't afraid to voice his opinions either, with an acerbic attitude and a persistent air of frustration about him. Most things piss him off, he doesn't like much of anything, and he isn't afraid to speak his mind about it.

Preferred Articles: Eiji mainly writes editorials concerning his thoughts on LAW and the wrestlers, feuds, matches, and cards involved. Match reviews are perfectly up his alley as well.

Approach to Writing: When Eiji's writing, usually his opinions are negative, and delivered colorfully and openly. He doesn't mince words and he doesn't compromise his opinions, seeing honesty as a pillar of journalistic integrity even when the people around him might not enjoy hearing it. Often his articles can sound like the ramblings of a crotchety, irritable old man fueled by cigarettes and whiskey, which is probably because they are.

"S-chan" (Haruka Seizawa)
Spoiler
Image
Personality: Haruka is an intern working for LAW Magazine, and also a high school classmate and close friend of LAW wrestler Yuki Kazikura. As Yuki's pursuits turned to professional wrestling, Haruka was intent on backing her up every step of the way, supporting her endeavors, and after the two of them graduated, she would stay in touch. Though she would never dream of getting in the ring herself, Haruka found a way of getting into the business by getting a job at LAW Magazine, keeping tabs on the action backstage and reporting to fellow fans. She's coy and playful, not wanting to give away her identity because she knows that Yuki reads the magazine, and she writes under the pseudonym S-chan (it was going to be "H-chan" until she realized how that sounded) and wears a surgical mask in all photos of her. She's also a bit of a gossip and delights in knowing things before anyone else, as well as sharing those things with others.

Preferred Articles: As an insider in the company, Haruka uses her position to leak news and rumors about upcoming developments in LAW - whatever she can get away with telling people. Her role in the company isn't big enough for her to have much sway, and she spends a lot of her job doing chores or getting papers passed between people, but occasionally she'll contribute her writing.

Approach to Writing: Haruka's articles tend to be quite excitable and eager, conveying the excitement she feels to have insider knowledge about LAW, and she likes making her readers feel like they're part of the same club too. A lot of times, though, she can get carried away when it comes to writing her personal interpretation into things, and there are times when she's hyped up a rumored upcoming bout only for it to turn out to be nothing more than a rumor. As a loyal friend, she also has a rather noticeable bias for Yuki Kazikura and always takes her side if the matter comes to it.

Takeda Ryoshi
Spoiler
Image
Personality: Takeda is a journalist and interviewer working for LAW Magazine, where he polls the promotion's talent and shares their revelations with the fans. He's typically a quiet and reserved individual and he would rather retreat from difficult situations than confront them. As such, he's quite awkward in social situations, particularly if they're embarrassing ones, and he doesn't like to talk about his feelings. Though he tries his best to hide it (with varying success), Takeda is also a pervert and easily swayed by beautiful women. This is rather unfortunate given the nature of his job.

Preferred Articles: He typically publishes interviews with LAW wrestlers, as well as occasionally profiles on a wrestler or their career history, or other investigative pieces.

Approach to Writing: Takeda's writing is fairly matter-of-fact, and the questions he asks of his subjects aren't particularly targeted. He's more focused with just doing his job and relaying the facts rather than looking deeper into what his interviewees have to say. In part that's because of his social anxiety getting in the way of him asking any more pointed questions. He relates everything that was said in his conversations, without editing much to make himself or his subjects look better. Above all else, he tries to deny any suspicion that he wants to bang most of the people he interviews. The jury is out as to if that works.

Lexy Alan
Appearance
Personality: Lexy is amicable and straightforward. She's more perceptive than she appears, and she often uses her intelligence and powers of observation to find leads and guests. Originally a wrestler out to make money, Lexy has since become a part-time wrestler in favor of being a talk show host, interviewer, and now magazine writer. She aims to bring fun, interesting, and spicy content to the LAW fan-base. She always means well, but she's not above allowing some of that content to come at someone's expense if she feels the ratings and content justifies it.

Preferred Articles: Transcripts of interviews, match reviews, highlights, lowlights, match builds, interactions, general commentary, etc.

Approach to Writing: Lexy is very frank and unafraid to impart her own opinions and takes in her writing. Despite her own biases, her work continues to attract viewers. And she hopes to encounter that same success as she takes on a position as a LAW Magazine writer.

Lucy White
(Wrestling Profile, Part-Timer)
Spoiler
Image
Personality
Lucy can range from sugary sweet to a bundle of nerves to a firecracker. More often than not, she tries to project herself as an all-loving all-American young woman, but her confidence issues, temper, and fear of public humiliation tend to get in her way more often than not. She is also clumsy and takes particular care in all things... when she's paying attention, anyway.

Preferred Articles
As the daughter of a highly successful wrestler who knows wrestling better than she can actually wrestle, Lucy prefers to write analyses of holds themselves - why they are effective, how to properly apply them, etc. She also wishes to speak with LAW wrestlers who specialize in these holds in order to hear their descriptions and preferences.

Approach To Writing
Lucy's enthusiasm comes through in even the more "scientific" writing involved in her holds analyses, and she goes to painstaking effort to make sure her words are understandable to any audience. In fact, she will often spend hours working with just a few lines to make sure they are just right though she is a natural writer. Often her viewpoints are neutral and observant. She also has stumbled into a... hands-on approach to her work. Thanks to misunderstandings, Lucy's guests have been putting her in the holds they describe...

"Amazon" Alaina Sanders-Haines: Contributing Writing Wrestler!

Alaina's Wrestling Profile Here!

Image

Personality: While Alaina is primarily here to show the world that even in her 40s she is a premier wrestler and hall of fame caliber grappler out to win some gold once more she also knows more than much of the roster her window of opportunity will close sooner rather than later. To that end she is trying out new things and looking in to what she may do full time once she hangs up her wrestling boots.... again. Alaina is much the same in her writing and interviewing as she is in the ring: She will be kind, almost motherly to anyone who isn't a total braggart or heel. If she has to pump up someone she will, and if need be she will put women in their place only this time with the printed word instead of amabombs.

Preferred Articles: Alaina really does live and breathe wrestling at this point, it is #2 to her family and she really doesn't have much of a #3. Interviewing wrestlers about life inside and outside the ring is always great to give fans a unique look at the rigors these women go through. She also wants to do things comparing how things used to be and give readers an idea about the road traveled by female wrestlers in their individual careers as well as the entirety of the journey of female wrestling itself from the early 1900s int he US to the gap in Japanese womens wrestling to the rest of the world in the 1970s-1990s, etc.

Approach To Writing: Alaina wants to offer an inside look at the ring looking outward, and given that her career has spanned from the late 1990s in the United States to current Japanese wrestling with stints in Europe and Mexico in between her varied experience as well as look at different eras and wrestling attitudes (showmanship to stiff, purely competitive work) offers readers some insight that very few can offer the way Alaina can.

Ran "Foul Tip" Fukuzawa
Spoiler
Image

Image
Personality: Ran is a sportswriter, author and a wrestling commentator, and he used to the wrestling commentator in Wrestle Angels back in the day. He has a sharp wit and an even sharper tongue, which earned him the nickname 'Foul Tip' for most of his scathing and honest remarks back then. Now in his mid thirties, Ran has mellowed out somewhat, especially after marrying one of the Wrestle Angels' stars, Panther Risako. Despite no longer working for Wrestle Angels, Ran is still very active in the wrestling industry, becoming quite a prolific writer. He is clearly passionate about wrestling, despite not being a wrestler himself, and his wish is to see how far this industry can grow in this era. This can be seen in many of his works, where he will, more often than not, gush about wrestling. He also isn't afraid to speak his mind and is quick to defend professional wrestling as sports entertainment.

Preferred Articles: Ran writes mostly about wrestling, like feuds, wrestlers and matches. He also conducts interviews with wrestlers.

Approach to Writing: Ran mostly writes his works in casual manner, avoiding the usage of complicated words for the sake of viewers and readers. He often takes neutral stances while writing about his subjects, but he can't help being a fanboy, especially if his wife is involved. He also tries to connect with the more younger audience, indulging in modern trends and getting to know the latest fads, including memes. While he isn't above bashing and criticizing the things he writes about, he makes sure to be fair, taking into account various views and stances that may differ with his own as he writes.

Yumi Imai
Spoiler
Image
Profile

Personality : On the surface, she is an intelligent woman with a affectionate personality. She is intimately competitive. In fact, she likes to play tricks, but only does this to someone very close to her. Yumi is physically and psychologically more mature compared to her peers. If you meet her in the lab, you will not find any fragments of activity, but if you meet her in the ring, she might look quite different.

Article Genres: She'll generally write about almost anything as long as the topic makes sense. She isn't necessarily afraid to write about other observations either like he mentor Kate taught her.

Robin Mendez
Spoiler
Image
Profile

Personality: Shrewd and business focused Robin is always looking to find ways to elevate herself her associates and LAW landing a small wrestling company she knew that the importance of understanding the wrestlers in a way that never always translated on TV. Though Robins bluntness in life and her own preference towards recognizable faces is likely to end in getting more then a few people on her bad side. That being said no one is above criticism regardless of her preferences.

Preferred Articles: Interviews she can do but her usual articles are focused on helping people understand the feuds and wrestlers that entertain them in a week by week basis. She is also interested in putting some perspective on how the various wrestlers stack up to each other.

Approach to writing: creating prospective articles that could sell the product to business men while being understandable to the common denominator, Robin has a simple method to her madness. Referencing the matches she talks about and bringing the readers to a peak behind the curtains to help understand every perspective her articles touch.

Naomi Hastings – the Ark Triumph Writer in Residence

Profile
Naomi
Image
Personality: Naomi is a sports nerd and avid gamer of all trades. From her very first high school newspaper to her freelance sports journalism she’s always had a fascination with competition. Far more comfortable at home on the couch watching the games than actually taking part, she is an analyst and commentator with an eye for detail and a youthful enthusiasm to match. Generally cheery but willing to ask the hard questions, she always tries to strike up a good rapport with her interviewees in order to get the juiciest tidbits of information out of them. Beyond her professional role she loves a drink, is quick to call out perceived bullshit, and likes nothing better than settling in for a night of games, virtual or otherwise.

Preferred Articles: Naomi prefers to write in depth, blow by blow match reports, as well as deep dive pre-match analysis before big fights. She enjoys looking into the strengths and weaknesses of potential opponents and theory-crafting her way through a match, hoping to hone her skills to the point where she can regularly predict results. She also occasionally takes to practice ring with willing professionals to gain some in-ring insight that can further inform her analytical writing.

Approach To Writing: Naomi likes to capture the action and chaos of the wrestling ring through her prose, wanting to give readers the best experience she can and recreate the feel of LAW as a master wordsmith. Her articles tend to be heavily descriptive and filled with flowery language. She prides herself on her research skills and always wants to place her articles in the wider context of the wrestler’s career.
