You have this win, sealed and delivered!
The words in Mona's head sounded more desperate to convince her than she liked.
The stars have never lied to you about these things!
Mona gave her cards one final glance before tucking them back into her bag. Yes, yes, she would win tonight because the stars foretold it but that would not stop the welling nervousness from eating at her from the inside. She could not let it get to her! She was Great Astrologist Mona! Never could she show her doubts. This might have been a huge step up in competition, but she had been set on this path for a reason. So she held strongly to the assurance of victory in her readings, and Mona trotted purposefully into position to step onto the stage with a death grip on confidence.
She slowly loosened that grip when the bunny girl squirming and contorting all over the monitor hanging above her head made a good distraction to her nerves.
"Isn't she overdoing it?" A few stage hands around thought better of answering. Oh, yes, Lily the LAPIN. That was the name. Mona scrunched her nose The name was so so literal and she had not realized it. Nor that she would feel so outdone before she had set foot in the ring with this shameless, beautiful bunny looking so exotic out there in front of the crowd.
Her own music filled the arena, the familiar dance beat, and Mona set a prideful jaw and swayed onto the stage with an internal debate raging about whether she should try to show off too. Mona distractedly sprinkled her staple blue sparkling 'stardust,' acquired from the astral shop Hobby Lobby, across the sides of the ramp as she kept mulling.
She made her decision upon reaching the ring. She was not to be outdone! With a handful of stardust still in her hand, Mona stuck out her rump, wiggled it to her music's beat, and let the dust in her hand trickle over it.
Feigning confidence after that display, Mona slinked into the ring through the ropes and bowed regally.
