A Thorn In The Side: Angelo Hawthorne vs Aoi Hoshino
Posted: Mon Dec 11, 2023 2:54 am
Match Type: Standard
Victory Conditions: Victory by pinfall, submission, or knockout.
After a year of facing off against talent in his home state and suffering their ineptitude, Angelo should've been happy, relieved even, to make it to the big leagues. It meant he’d made progress carving his way to the top. Yet, it was still out of sight. Evidenced by who his opponent was in his rapidly approaching match. Aoi Hoshino.
Now, he didn't expect to go up against any top names. Angelo loathed to admit that he was still a rookie, if only for the amount of time he’d been wrestling, but her? She hardly seemed impressive from her match history. Not to say he was completely flawless, but still. It was an insult to be matched against her, an unforgivable one. He’d bet strapping on his kneepads or slipping on his trunks would give him more of a fight. For what would be his first showing in LAW, it wasn't fair!
Angelo nibbled on his thumb, sulking the entire way from the locker room to the Gorilla Position. The few good luck wishes he got from those he passed backstage tempered his dissatisfaction. A little anyway. Slapping the sides of his face, he psyched himself up enough to force a smile as he headed out to the ring.
Being in the audience was one thing, but having their sole attention made him freeze for a split second. The audience wasn't as muted as he imagined they’d be. Though, that could just be because he was a new face. So many people, more than he’d ever experienced working indies. The rumble of his entrance music being blared snapped him out of it.
He wasn't getting the thunderous cheering he knew he deserved, but he’d reward the crowd with a glimpse of his acrobatic finesse nonetheless. With a running start, he performed a series of flips down the ramp, posing with his arms outward once he landed at the base. Angelo pulled back on the ring’s top rope to help vault over it.
A little more showboating put him in a more proper mood. Sitting on one of the top turnbuckles, he impatiently shook the middle rope with his boot as he waited for Aoi to show her face. If he ran through
