Amy Henderson vs Finlay Zeffer - The Match That Started It All

Unread post by FinyBoy »

Standard Match
Win by either pin, KO, or submission.
Normal rules apply.

It was match number two for the blonde beauty. Was wasn't the best start to her LAW career, but Amy had enjoyed her previous match with Mara Ashford all the same. In the end, her opponent was just the better wrestler. That's all there really was to it. All that was left now was to get better; to be better. She was going to keep looking forward, and there was no better time to start than right now.

Speaking of right now, it was time to get out there and participate in her next match. She really needed for it to be a win, but she still held the desire for it to be a competitive one. It was an old habit that would always die hard.

Dressed in the light blue two piece that had become her signature gear since she started wearing it in the indies, she came out from behind the curtain and threw a fist up to the crowd. Considering how little they knew about her from her only match, the reaction they gave was less than desirable. Still, her energy did get some crowd members to join in with her. Deciding not to dwell on it too much, she made her way to the ring, slapping any hands than came out to greet her, few as they may have been. Adding on to the list of goals she had already, she decided to get this crowd to on her side more. She wanted to hear the whole arena erupt in cheers for her.

Slipping between the ropes, she made it to the center of the ring, where she threw up another fist in an attempt to get the crowd pumped up again. She got pretty much the same reaction.

They will come around.

Then, she made it to her corner and started warming herself up.

"OK, I'm ready to go!" she said aloud. She was pepped up, and ready to roll.

Finlay popped his neck backstage in the guerilla position in preperation for his next match. It was his third match in LAW and while he wasn’t thrilled with the results of his last match he was just gonna focus on winning this next one. He had heard his opponet was a former indies competitor like himself so he looked forward to a hopefully good match to add to his record.

As his music Alchemy by Brandon Yates played the blonde would step out and raise a fist up with neutral expression on his face. Raising a arm up he received a fair amount of cheers from the crowd due to his past two matches. Wearing red long tights with gold trim and black boots he indeed looked formidable which is likely part of why the crowd cheered given the contrast between himself and his opponet who by comparison looked smaller and softer than himself. Giving a small smirk he would race down the ramp, leaping up he would dive through the gap of the middle rope, entering the ding with a bit of athletic flair.

Looking over his opponet the nodded to her as he stepped backwards into his corner. He admittedly wasn’t that impressed by Amy, especially given his last opponet Amaya. But he would reserve judgement till he could see what she was able to do. But admittedly the knowledge she had lost her first and only match didn’t help his expectations. Bone the less he wasn’t about to underestimate her as he prepared himself for the match at hand.

Quietly and soundly, Amy watched her opponent make his way to the ring. It wasn't a super flashy entrance by any means, but Amy considered it better that way. It made it more likely that the guy was humble. Arrogant wrestlers reminded her too much of someone else who wouldn't leave her alone.

Regardless, Amy maintained her goal: fight fair, fight hard, and win a solid and competitive match-up. If she could do that, she would be satisfied. Her opponent didn't look too overwhelming, which was a good thing. She just hoped he would give her a good fight.

The ref took a moment to check both wrestlers for foreign objects. None would be found on the blonde girl. As soon as she finished with Finlay, the zebra would turn to the timekeeper's booth and call for the bell.

DING! DING! DING!

Amy would come out of her corner and put her hands up, getting ready to engage in a lock-up with him.

As Finlay watched his opponet while waiting for the bell he admittedly found himself less than impressed. She didn’t come across as much of anything. Not overly strong or fast or cunning. If anything she came across as one of the busty girls that approached pro wrestling for the spotlight. But he wasn’t one to judge, and like always he’d be going all out against her. Raising his arms up as the bell rang Finlay dashed forward to grip one of Amy’s arms with one hnd and the back of her neck with his other, engaging in a classic collar-elbow lock up with the blonde.

The two wrestlers locked up in the center of the ring with a classic collar-elbow tie-up. Amy's grip was firm, and she would use this to help gauge her opponent's strength. She knew nothing about him. Not who he was, nor where he was from (outside of what the announcer said), nor how he approached wrestling. In this match, it would be to her ultimate advantage for her to learn more about him, so that she could better fight him, and ultimately win.

But at the same time, she needed to show her stuff. Not to the point where she would give away her entire hand, but enough to make him think twice about trying anything risky and tricky.

So, as the two locked up, Amy would use her strength to push forward. In an attempt to overwhelm him early, she would look to push him backwards, and straight into the turnbuckle with full force!

Finlay grunted as he locked up with the other blonde. Their red ad blue outfits clashing against each other as the two jockeyed against each other for an advantage. The first thing Finlay noted in this early clash was how strong Amy was as Finlay was having a legitimately tough time dealing with her. Now Finlay was no lightweight by any means, in fact he lifted quite a bit which was why he was surprised someone like Amy was making him struggle! However what shocked him even more was when the blonde girl pushed forward, breaking his footing and pushing them backwards to the ring corner. Finlay cursed at this as he slid back, knowing that if he let her get him in the corner he’d be at a major disadvantage early on. So as they’d move backwards Finlay would plant his foot into the mat and pivot on his foot while swinging his arms around to try and reverse his positioning with Amy to slam her back first into the turnbuckle.

The push was working. Amy was beginning to overwhelm him. Things were of to a decent start, and as soon as he hit the turn buckle, the blonde knew that she could start going to town on him.

At least, that was the plan, before Finlay twisted his leg and reversed the hold just in time to switch their positions and slam her into the turnbuckle.

"Ack!"

As it turns out, since Amy was more focused on pushing him forward and into the corner, she was not prepared to deal with a possible counter to that. Now, as she clutched her back in the corner, she was trying to find a way out of this, before Finlay started to take advantage of the situation.

As Finlay clashed with Amy he had to admit one thing. The blonde was strong. Surprisingly so. It would likely be a problem later on but as long as he continued to fight with his technical skills as he had.

Upon turning and sending her crashing into the corner Finlay knew he had the chance to take an early lead. Grabbing the top ropes from either side of the corner Finlay would use them to haul himself up before sending a drop kick to Amy’s chest, his grip on the ropes letting him land back on his feet if he were successful in landing the dropkick.

Amy was initially stunned and surprised by the counter that Finlay managed to pull off. However, she wouldn't let that be for too long. Seeing him use the ropes to propel himself towards her, the blonde girl knew she needed to think of something, and fast. It was a pretty acrobatic move he was making, and Amy couldn't help but be a little impressed by his athletic abilities. Still, being impressed wasn't going to win her this match.

Dodging was out of the question. Amy just wasn't fast enough for that. She could try blocking, but the idea of eating a dropkick with her arms this early in the match wasn't something the girl in blue was particularly fond of right now. What other options did she have right now? Finlay's feet were getting ever-closer to her chest area.

That's when Amy made a bold decision. As the Kiwi's feet came in for a hit, Amy would attempt to catch them with both of her arms before they made a major impact. Should she be successful in this endeavor, she would duck forward and would move outwards towards the center of the ring, while still holding his feet. This would force him to extend his body into a planking position. From there, Amy would attempt to yank him away from the ropes, allowing gravity to send him face-first towards the canvas!

Finlay wasn’t impressed so far. The match had not been going long but from what the kiwi could tell Amy was nothing to write home about. She was surprisingly strong true. But so far to Fin his fellow blonde didn’t seem to have the grappling ability to make use of that strength.

So as Finlay’s body swung forward now parallel to the mat he was confident the attack would connect and was already planning a few moves ahead and was already planning what he’d do following it. However these thoughts were in vain as much to the blonde’s shock his feet were caught by his blue clad opponet stopping his move cold and leaving him suspended in midair! Not having the time or oppurtunity to do anything Finlay was suddenly turned over and yanked from the ropes, his fingers being forced away by the fierce tug of his opponet. As he was pulled away there was nothing to keep the blonde from face planting right into mat making him groan as his entire front now stung.

‘Perhaps... I underestimated her..’ Finlay thought to himself as he yanked his feet away from her hands and rolled forward in an attempt to create some distance between them. ‘So she’s clever. I’ve gotta watch out for that from now on.” He thought to himself reevaluating his judgement on Amy as he watched her carefully. Deciding to lead with the attack this time Finlay would charge forward and attempt to send a forearm smash to her chest.
