Willy was Theo’s brother, for all the trouble the man caused him over the years. They were close, having a deep bond beyond being band members and tag team partners. He wasn’t the easiest man to put up with, and he perfectly understood why people couldn't figure out why the two of them hung out so much, but underneath all his bluster, he was a good dude. Sometimes, you just meet someone you click with, and there’s no accounting for it. Sometimes, people just fit.
That said, everyone needs a little break sometimes—a little private time. That was why Theo applied to get a singles match despite his status as a tag team member. Just a chance to stretch his wings in a solo match. They gave him a bout on a house show in Shibuya, and everything was set.
There was only one problem: Willy still showed up.
”Dude.” He groaned when he came around the corner and saw Willy standing there, stretching, already in his wrestling trunks. ”Why are you here, man? I told you, it’s a one-on-one match. No tagging.”
”Somebody’s gotta watch your back, right?” He shrugged with that cocky smile on his face. “Figured I’d come along, give you some help. Nothing serious.”
Theo gave him an even gaze, looking him up and down, not hiding his skepticism. He knew the man well enough to know that he wouldn’t get out of bed unless he had something to gain from it. While he couldn't say what that was for sure, he would wager it had something to do with the rumor that LAW would be debuting a sexy new prospect in his match. That was the only reason he could think of, and judging by the slim smirk, it all lined up.
”Right.” Theo shrugged and decided to let it go as one of the stagehands came by to give him the okay - ready or not, it was his time to come out. As much as he wanted Willy to give him some distance, he knew it was a losing battle. ”Whatever. Just try not to get in the way. Please? I need this win. We need this win.” That was an understatement. They hadn't exactly set the wrestling world on fire since they debuted, picking up a string of losses right from the start. It was part of the reason why he’d jumped at this opportunity, hoping for some singles action.
”Aye aye, cap’n.” Willy gave him a salute as he made his way to the curtain. ”Lead the way.”
Theo came out through the curtains with Willy only a couple steps behind him, making his way down the ramp while his blared behind him. The crowd was a modest one, about what you’d expect for a house show in a modest venue, but they were lively and energetic and ready to go. Probably expecting him to get his ass kicked, too, but he liked the idea of defying expectations.
He made his way in under the bottoms ropes, popped to his feet, and promptly skipped off to the far corner, looking to get in a few quick stretches as his music began to die down…
