Standard Match: Winner to be decided by pinfall, submission or knockout

Finlay cracked his neck in preparation for the match ahead. One he hadn't been expecting but wasn't against in any way either. Tonight he would be facing one Mary Green. As he understood it she was a part timer in the truest sense. Being a teacher as well as a wrestler and only competing for periods of time before flying back to the USA to teach.

On one hand he could respect the hustle and drive to do more despite being in one's twilight years, on the other however he was firmly in the opinion that to be a wrestler you had to be all in on it and take it seriously. So for now he reserved judgement on the woman till they met, and till he saw her compete. After all that would be the ultimate test of how serious she was as a wrestler.

With his music starting Finlay would come out to a positive reception built upon being one of the mainstays of LAW's men's division, and one of the most respectful of them as opposed to a perv like some of the men back there. Making his way down to the ring with his characteristic stoic expression Finlay would hop on the apron before going through the ropes. The only flourish to his entrance being to jump onto the corner, throwing one hand into the air as he did so before hopping down and waiting for this opponent to come down.

Mary Green

Another night, another taping she took on. Luckily, she had a lot more time during the summer to take bookings, but she still had online classes to teach and most of it is her doing pre-recorded lectures and uploading assignments. She wants to teach virtually through Zoom, but her husband encouraged her that connection around the world might not be so good for a lot of students and this could help her focus on wrestling to take a break from the classrooms. Mary blushed when her husband said she could be a workaholic sometimes and she checked the mirror putting on her lab coat. Regardless, Mary posted a few worksheets to keep her class busy while she was on her way to Japan. That should cover their attention for the full week of bookings she had taken up.

Mary was told she would be taking on a guy for the first time in forever. Mary did intergender wrestling on the indies, but very sparely as she nearly lost all those matches. She probably only made one guy submit to her DNA Helix and that was pretty much it. Not to mention, the guy was meant to be a jobber for the promotion so Mary didn’t exactly beat John Cena or Seth Rollins. Mary breathed in a deep breath before being called and soon, she was out to big cheers upon her return to LAW. Her last match went well against her former student Piper and she barely won over her. Mary knew it was time to up her game against a man!

Mary waved around as she her way down the ramp and even stopped off to the side to slap some hands before coming to the steel steps. She stepped up and into the ring before heading for a corner to climb it shaking her fists in the air with a bright smile. Mary hopped down and placed her hands on her hips shuffling off her lab coat.

“Well, well, well. I don’t face too many men in my career thus far, but I do have to say you look like you could be quite the challenge, youngster,” Mary stated, working in a bit of a challenging tone.

Looking up as the entrance music of his opponent started up the blonde would narrow his eyes a bit as he watched the older woman down the ramp. Wearing a lab coat along with a pretty simple but practical set of gear he would admit that if nothing else she looked the part, if a bit campy with the lab coat. Although he could let that slide given the background she had.

Still looks weren't everything and what would matter would be the contents of what she brought to the ring. Despite him not being so sure about the woman though it wasn't a reason to treat her badly, at least not in Finlay's book. "Believe me I will, don't think that you'll get through this without giving it you're absolute all." Finlay said back in response to what Mary had said but none the less he would step forward and offer his hand in a handshake to her.

This wasn’t like what she went through with Piper. Finaly was more courteous if a bit more ambitious and determined. He laid out his blueprint for this match right on the table and Mary would have to bring her best foot forward. It’s what she wanted to improve on anyway so she stuck her left hand out to shake Finaly’s ready for her next test that laid ahead. Mary settled back as the referee instructed them to stay seperated before she looked back and forth calling for the bell. Mary came in circling Finaly before trying to instantly go for a collar and elbow tie up dragging Finaly into a circle.

While admittedly still not sure of his opponent Mary was at least fairly nice and respectful which he could certainly respect it. What would matter instead was what she brought to the table when the bell rang. Separating from her until the bell rang Finlay would immediately start approaching Mary with his hands up, watching her carefully before daring towards her, looking to lock up with the woman in a classic collar elbow lock up. Pivoting on his heels suddenly Finlay would try and push Mary's hands down while bringing his arms up to try and wrap his arms around the woman's head and bring her down in a side head lock!

Mary grimaced as Finaly pushed her arms down before wrapping his own around the head of the science teacher getting a couple wrenches in. Each wrench made Mary grunt as she then used her left arm to punch into the back of the New Zealand native. If that got Finaly off her, Mary would continue this chain wrestle session with a waist lock before she using her strength to try and put Finaly on the ground switching to wrapping her arms around his head for her own front facelock. Mary wrenched testing the waters right now against Finaly and seeing what he had up his sleeves.

Seemingly starting off with chain wrestling against the white haired woman Finlay would grunt as he tried to keep the woman bound in his arms but she was determined if nothing else, punching at his back enough that his hold loosened, allowing her to slip from his grip and get behind him! "Ngh!" Grunting as he was taken down to the mat and pulled into a headlock of Mary's own Finlay would keep calm and reach up, pushing on Mary's back while pulling on her arm, looking to slip free of her grip while pushing her down below him . If successful he would throw himself over her back, pulling on her arm in the process for a arm lock!

Just like in the classroom, Mary always had a plan and worked on being methodical with everything she did. However, the differences are she has to pretty much work on the fly in the ring unlike planning her next day for her lessons. Mary has more time to think about her next moves with PowerPoints and homework. When to plan for exams and when to take time to herself to be a mother to her kids and wife to her husband. It’s why she is mostly a part-timer balancing family life, pro wrestling, and teaching. Someone that a lot of pure wrestlers and ones that work hard like to look down on, because they get this idea Mary doesn’t take it seriously. Mary does and she proves it in her matches. She proved it against Ryuko and then Piper.

Finaly managed to toss her on her back locking in an armbar. Mary grunted and gritted her teeth making a fist with her free hand before reaching up to punch Finaly in the face. If she could get him off her, Mary would try to roll him up for a quick breather away from chain wrestling! The referee fell in place, but Mary knew better than to think this would end it very early.

“1! 2!”

Despite the fact that she wasn't a full time wrestler Finlay would give Mary props. If nothing else her technical ability was well founded and deep. Not enough for him to give her instant respect and props, but he could certainly appreciate it. Still as he put her on her stomach and went for the arm lock she'd surprise him a bit more with a sudden punch to the face!

"Ngh!" Surprised by the blow and releasing hold of his foe's hand in the process Finlay was then grabbed himself and rolled up! 'Shit!' Finlay thought to himself hearing the ref drop down and still counting and naturally before it could finish the blonde would suck a breath in before pushing his legs out to kick out with gusto!

It was too early for Mary to win the match off the rollup alone, but it was more intended to be a way to escape. Forcing Finaly to put his mind on something else and give Mary a route of escape. Mary pushed away getting to one knee panting a bit. Man, her old age could catch up to her sometimes, but she fought through it rising to her feet and getting her fists up. She circled Finaly before trying to analyze her next move as well as her opponent’s.

“Trust me, I intend to win more legitimately than that, but I needed a way out of your clutches,” Mary explained.
