Blood Feud: Kyo Akamatsu vs Wisteria Khan

Unread post by Underdoggo »

Rules: standard prostyle match
Victory by 3-count pinfall, submission or KO

Wisteria Khan. That was who his opponent had been billed as, Kyo thought ruefully as he finished fastening his boots. In any other circumstance, he would have accepted that as his opponent's name, either real or staged, and fought her regardless of that name. But no sooner had their match been announced when his sister Makie had done some digging and found out the woman's true name: Sheena. Sheena Akan. Somehow, after all of these years, after having had so much time to distance himself from his father's career and death...he was facing an Akan.

His fist clenched involuntarily. When he was a boy, he had always watched the matches of his father, Keichi "King Crimson" Akamatsu. His dad had been one of his heroes, and he had always known he was going to follow his footsteps into the ring. But while his dad had always had more than a few rivalries and heated matches in his long career, his rivalry with Yamato Akan had always stood out. The two men had faced each other in the ring no less than five times, with two victories apiece. The media and the fanbase had latched on to their back and forth matches, and, perhaps fueled by this, an intense feud had soon brewed between them. Kyo never knew what had started it, but his dad had always seemed intensely driven to be better than Yamato Akan, and to defeat him the next time the two of them fought.

In their fifth match, during a vital championship bout, Keichi and Yamato had knocked the seven hells out of each other. It had been such a furious match that the referee had accidentally been knocked after accidentally catching a boot to the head-- a fact that the King Crimson had only noticed when he had gone for a 3 count pin....after which, unfortunately, the time limit for the brutal match had finally elapsed, ending the match before either wrestlers could score a victory. The entire bout left everyone dissatisfied; King Crimson had felt cheated, Yamato Akan had only retained his belt by default, and the fans felt disappointed at such an anticlimactic ending. King Crimson had vowed to fight Yamato Akan again in another rematch, to even the score between them once and for all.

Unfortunately, a few days later, Keichi Akamatsu had broken his neck in a botched hurricanrana, and died in the ring. That rematch would never come.

And now, Kyo was about to face the niece of Yamato Akan here, in the LAW ring. He took a deep breath. While he had no idea what had started that feud all those years ago, he felt the pressure of family honour to tilt the score in his family's favour...or at the very least, not to lose. A lot of things were on the line here-- his family's honour, his father's memory, and the legacy he has built his career upon-- and he could not afford to fail.

With a final, deep breath, Kyo strode down the ramp.

This was going to be... awkward and unpleasant for Sheena. Tonight she was in.. she hated the phrasing of it but a blood feud so to speak. Kyo Akamatsu, Sheena hadn't seen that much of his work before the announcement of their match, but from what she had seen he and his sister were both quite skilled and talented wrestlers, Kyo in particular was a rare upstanding male wrestler that didn't seem interested in objectifying women yet took them seriously at the same time. Any other circumstance and she would have been glad to have him as an opponent.

Unfortunately things were complicated by the fact that his father had beef with Sheena's uncle, which in turn meant there would be... weird carried over feelings between them, especially since the history of their families weren't exactly... positive. Truthfully Sheena didn't care all too much about what happened in the past, but she did care about her families reputation, especially her uncle, and if Kyo thought to bad mouth either or her than they would certainly have a problem. Of course that implied that he knew she was really an Akan, but a friend of hers who worked in ring crew had heard that Kyo's sister Makie had apparently found out and told him, so Sheena wasn't too hopeful that he wouldn't know who she was.

Sighing to herself Sheena would just resolve to go out there and do the best she could, if Kyo wanted to drag their family history into things than so be it, regardless of that all she was going to do was try to win this match. Waiting at the guerilla position patiently Sheena would take a deep breath right as her entrance music kicked on and began making her way out.
Spoiler
Standing at the top of the ramp Sheena would strike her signature pose with her hands behind her head as the crowd immediately began cheering for her, the performance she had in Apex no doubt lending to a rise in popularity she had seen while the announcer introduced her as Wisteria Khan. Walking down the ramp with a measured pace Sheena would spot Kyo but avoid direct eye contact, wanting to put that off as long as possible. Getting to the ring and hopping on the apron Sheena would turn and pose once more for the crowd, the white and purple gear she'd been wearing doing its job in getting eyes on her before she moved to enter the ring fully.

Standing inside the squared circle, now face to face with Kyo the purple haired girl would sigh softly and start to walk towards the center of the ring, holding out her arm as she did so. It was a basic show of sportsmanship and would serve as the first test for how this match would go, but she may as well try and offer a preliminary olive branch before this match started.

As Kyo watched and waited, his opponent finally made her entrance. And what an entrance it was: with but a simple pose, Wisteria Khan got all the fans cheering intensely for her before she started to make her way down the ramp. Of course, Kyo knew, Wisteria was an established face here on LAW. Obviously, she was going to have the crowd on her side, and obviously, no one was going to be cheering on a relative unknown like him. But Kyo had no intention of letting that bother him in the fight to come.

As Wisteria finally made her way into the ring, Kyo got a sense of just who he would be up against. Wisteria was as tall as he was, and had a powerful physique to go along with it, her purple two-piece outfit doing a lot to show off her well defined abs. She looked like a highly versatile warrior, a well-rounder who could adapt to any situation in the ring. Kyo felt something tighten in his gut. This was definitely not going to be an easy match at all, especially against an opponent of this caliber. Her posture, her calm, confident poise...it all told him he was fighting an experienced opponent.

It was then that Wisteria's eyes met Kyo's. For a split second, they locked, and Kyo could see the fierce determination burning under those purple eyes. He just hoped that she saw the same thing in his. And then, suddenly, Wisteria moved towards him. He braced himself, wondering if she was going to comment on his being here, or make some derogatory remark about his father, or--

Her hand extended towards him. For a brief second, Kyo stared, nearly dumbfounded. The niece of Yamato Akan was offering him a pre-match handshake.

Maybe, he thought, he had been taking this whole family feud too seriously after all, and maybe he had misjudged Wisteria because of it. He firmly shook her hand, giving her a faint smile. "Let's have a good match," he said, before releasing her hand and backing away into the gorilla position, ready for the match to begin.

Mixed feelings about her opponent or not and their shared family history Sheena wasn't gonna be the cause of any drama or malice between the two. If Kyo wanted that then so be it, Sheena just refused to be the instigator of past bad blood. So she would be the good sport and offer a pre match handshake, whether her opponent accepted or not didn't matter too much to Sheena but it would at least serve to test the waters somewhat before the match began properly.

Still despite her initial reservations it seemed like her opponent was in a similar headspace as her, not wanting to be the cause of continued feuding between the two. Hands meeting she would give the man a firm squeeze and shake, nodding in agreement. "Agreed." She said curtly, but neutrally before releasing his hand and taking a few steps back, squatting slightly while raising her hands up in preparation.

Formalities were out of the way now, and it was time for the match to begin. So far things had been civil between the two neither wanting to continue their family's feud to the present day, but that could change on a dime. For now however all that was present on Sheena's mind was giving her all to win this match, if not for her family, then for herself. So as soon as the bell would ring Sheena would dart forward, right up to Kyo, bringing her arms up as she did so to try and lock up with him in a classic collar elbow tie up!

The bell rang, and the two of them immediately exploded into action. There were no dirty tricks on Wisteria's part, no sudden rushing strikes or fakeouts. The two of them met in a simple, old fashioned grapple in the center of the ring, pushing and twisting against one another as their arms interlocked. With his forehead pressing against Wisteria's, Kyo gritted his teeth: Wisteria every bit as strong as her height and build had suggested. The two of them were deadlocked in the center of the ring, and no matter what, Kyo couldn't force her back.

Switching things around, Kyo ceased pushing, allowing Wisteria's momentum to press in against him. Dropping back, he would latch on to one of her arms, trying to flip her head over heels onto her butt with an arm drag. If he managed that, then he would immediately roll to her knees behind her, trying to trap one of her arms under one of his own while locking an arm across her head, twisting it sideways in a chinlock...if his arm drag succeeded, that was...

Sheena and Kyo for now, seemed to be on good terms.. er more like neutral. Too say the two liked or even respected each other remained to be seen. But there was at least enough mutual acknowledgement to start this match with no funny business but instead a simple and classic lock up. As it stood though, for better or worse, the two were true equals, being roughly the same height and possessing similar strength, neither was able to immediately overwhelm the other.

Which meant it would come down to technique with Kyo being the one to make the first move, dropping his resistance and using the sudden shift to take Sheena off her feet and down to the mat! "Ugh!" Sheena grunted as she landed on her but, already feeling her foe getting behind her, twisting her arm in the process.

'I don't think so.' Sheena thought, tucking her head in to avoid Kyo's arm from ensnaring her head before turning to the side her arm was being twisted on, her free arm looking to wrap aronud his leg to pull his leg back and send him falling forward! If successful in this and if he hopefully loosened her hold if the trip worked than Sheena would look to reverse the grip between their hands to pull his arm up while leaning on his back, looking to apply a arm bar if her initial reversal attempt was successful!

Kyo had wasted no time in trying to seize the advantage in this match, breaking the deadlock of their collar and elbow lockup to flip Wisteria with an arm drag, expertly flipping her over his shoulder onto her butt. In an instant, he was kneeling behind her, moving to lock his arm across his opponent's head to lock in a sleeper or, failing that, a chin lock.

Wisteria, however, was quick to demonstrate she had well-honed reflexes of her own: Kyo's opponent ducked low, reaching under him to grab around one of his legs. Kyo was taken by surprise as Wisteria used his own momentum against him in turn, flipping him over her shoulder onto his front. Grunting from the impact, the next thing Kyo knew, Wisteria was leaning over his back, trying to lock his arm between her legs in an armbar.

Cursing, Kyo reacted quickly and tried to grab the wrist of his trapped arm with his free hand to prevent Wisteria from extending it. Whether he prevented the armbar or not, it would not change his next move: gritting his teeth, he would try to get his knees up underneath him and twist his body to the side, before shooting his legs out, trying to snap them around Wisteria's head and drag her down to the mat with a head scissor!

Anyone that knew the full history of both wrestlers in the ring would easily be able to tell that both were legacies. Anyone else watching could easily just assume that they were naturals, prodigies even, and technically that wouldn't be far off. However Sheena and Kyo's instincts and skills were honed by relatives that had been in the business, and grew up watching them implemented before training ever even began. These opening moves were relatively basic and easy to read as well as counter. Especially for these two.

Naturally it was why Sheena wasn't necessarily overtly shocked when she felt resistance to the arm bar in the form of Kyo gripping his own hand to mitigate how far Sheena could pull the armbar back. 'Damn, he's fighting smart, guess I shouldn't be too-' "Ngh!" Unfortunately Sheena had gotten distracted by her thoughts, and as such got her head trapped by Kyo's legs wrapping around her, pulling her off and down to the mat in a headscissors!

Grunting and groaning while caught in the hold Sheena would close her eyes and focus, placing her hands on Kyo's thighs and attempting to force his legs flat on the mat. If this worked than Sheena would try and get her feet under her before pushing up, essentially performing a handstand while in Kyo's headscissors! However it would also loosen his grip, and as Sheena's legs landed on the opposite side of where they were before Sheena would use the chance to pull her head free from his grasp, and if Kyo had sat up through that ordeal, than Sheena would throw her leg forward, aiming to slam a thrust kick into his face!

Kyo caught his breath now as he managed to snag Wisteria in the head scissor, causing the purplette to give a muffled cry as he dragged her to the mat. Truth to be told, the headscissor wasn't wasn't the strongest hold in his repertoire, but all the same, he locked his legs together as much as he could, sitting upright as he squeezed into the Akan girl, hoping to lean forward and snag her arms while he was at it. This was all just a temporary measure to wear Wisteria down, of course, until he could switch to a better hold.

Wisteria, to give her credit, was barely making a sound even as Kyo squeezed into her. As Kyo watched, he saw Wisteria stand up, her head still trapped between his thighs, pressing her palms against the mat. A second later, her entire lower body popped off the mat in a graceful hand stand. Alarm bells rang in Kyo's head when he suddenly recognized what Wisteria was doing, before her body plummeted down towards his.

He brought his arms up quickly, abandoning any attempt to secure Wisteria further to block the descent of her leg towards his face. All the same, Wisteria's body collided with his, and it was enough to make him grunt from the impact and reflexively release his headscissor. Crashing onto his back, Kyo's immediate reaction was to roll, hoping to get out from under Wisteria and spring to his hands and knees opposite her before she could take advantage of their positions...

Sheena was determined to win this match, not just for the sake of winning, or securing her standing in the hierarchy of LAW, but also for the familial legacy to be had here. Even if she wasn't interested in carrying over the bad blood. Unfortunately just as she thought when walking too the ring, Kyo was proving to be every bit the legacy that Sheena herself was. Nothin she did early on stuck, but likewise nothing he tried yet would work on her for long.

Case in point, Sheena planting her hands against the mat and lifting her body into the air in a surprisingly gymnastic display. All before she came crashing down onto Kyo's body, her leg descending along with her to smack into Kyo's face with a makeshift kick. Feeling connection Sheena knew that the kick must have been blocked with her foe's arms, but that was fine, the kick was just going to be a cherry on top, truth is Sheena had gotten what she wanted by getting free of the headscissors.

All that remained to be seen however was what came next. Instinctively however Sheena had rolled off Kyo's body, something he seemed to do as well as by the time she pushed herself up Sheena would see her opponent's body, further than it should have been, leaving the two in a true neutral space as Sheena huffed slightly, the first exchange between them seeming to be over.. for now. "Better than anticipated." Sheena offered curtly as she stood back up to her feet.
