Crash.

There was a world-shaking impact as Kyo was driven back first into the mat. Pain erupted through his upper back, his entire body jolting with the sheer concussive force of the crash. He ended up sprawled on his back, arms splayed outwards, groaning slightly as he stared up at the arena lights. Even in this state, though, Kyo was still able to rationalize what was going on: as far as suplexes went, it had definitely been a powerful one, a great impact that had knocked the air from his lungs and left him hurting and sore. But, he gingerly noted, it still wasn't the worst suplex he had ever suffered in his career.

Unfortunately for him, Valley wasn't done.

Kyo groaned as he felt himself being hauled to his feet again, his muscular opponent almost effortlessly manhandling him. This time he was unable to offer even a measure of token resistance as she lifted him up, and then slammed him hard against the mat again. Pain shot through his body on impact, and he felt his limbs start to slacken.

And then, just when Kyo thought it was over...Valley lifted him again. Up he went, unmoving and unresisting as a sack of grain: with a third final, terrible crash, Kyo was driven hard into the mat, the impact knocking the air from his lungs and leaving him lying in a stunned and broken heap on the mat.

Valley was a powerhouse, of that there was absolutely no doubt now. Kyo could only kick his legs weakly against the mat, unable to muster the strength to stand up, and at the mercy of whatever Valley had in store next...

Kyo was heavier than her brother.

That seemed like an obvious thing, Rail was a small dude, but Valerie only truly appreciated just how much bigger he was now, when she had to herc the man up three times in a row. She’d done that move on her brother all the time, and not counting the times he’d managed to counter it - which was more often than she would’ve liked to admit - she hadn't had any real trouble. But the forty or so pounds that her brother had over him was enough to make the difference. Her body ached in ways she never knew it could.

But it worked. Holy hell, did it work. As Valerie laid on her back and looked over, she saw a devastated Kyo waiting nearby, looking utterly spent. A good sign. The match was swayed in her favor, now she just had to keep it there.

Valerie waited a moment to catch her breath, then raised her legs, pushed off the mat above her head, and did a kip up, rising to her feet in a single bound and earning a smattering of applause. She wiped her brow clean of sweat, moved in, and reached down to grab Kyo by the head, getting a tight grip to lift him up and force him to his feet.

As soon as she got him standing, Valerie stepped back, jumped forward, and brought her leg up to launch a push kick to his chest, trying to force him into the corner, a proper place to keep wearing him down.

Up until now, the action between Kyo and Valley had been fairly back and forth. That had all ended, however, the moment Valley proceeded to nail him with three gutplex suplexes in a row. Lying flat on his back, one leg kicking weakly on the mat, Kyo was conscious of little more than the pain he was in right now. Stupid, he thought angrily to himself, I should have been able to counter that! And yet, the fact remained, he hadn't. This had nothing to do with a comparative lack of skill on his part: Valley was just that good, and that powerful.

And the Californian amazon wasn't letting up either, grabbing him by the head. Kyo groaned weakly as he was pulled, staggering, up to his feet, wobbling a little as he was forced to stand. He was soon sent staggering back again, however, as Valley delivered a push kick into his chest, pushing him into a nearby corner. Kyo winced, one eye closed, and instinctively held onto the top ropes to keep from slumping down completely.

In truth, he was biding his time. He watched to see what Valerie would try next, ready to push past the hurt to counter it at a moment's notice...

This was going well. Too well, in fact.

Valerie’s kick landed and planted Kyo back in the corner, leaving him loopy against the turnbuckle. It was almost hard to believe that she was the one who’d done that to him, that she could annihilate a guy as stacked as him, but the proof was before her eyes. To say nothing of the rush running through her body, the exhilaration, the power. Even more than the match with Ryu, she was starting to feel the excitement of it all, this wild pace that threatened to sweep her up.

So while a voice in her head suggested caution, a louder voice told her to press the advantage, hammer him and wither him away. She took a few steps back, created some distance, and then it was back on the attack again, rushing forward, full speed ahead.

Her legs came into play again, generating a high amount of momentum over a short distance, and she cashed it all in when she ducked down, and shot forward, trying to ram her shoulder into Kyo’s midsection and ram him up against the pads.

Kyo was anything but annihilated. True, his body was a throbbing mass of pain right now, and true, he was actually hanging off of the ropes more than he actually cared to admit...and true, it was actually taking a lot just to stay upright at the moment...but he was not out of this fight. Not by a long shot. And he hoped to show Valley that soon enough.

And that soon turned out to be really soon, as, in a blur of white, pink and blonde, Valley dropped low and came charging at Kyo like a football linebacker, no doubt looking to spear him hard while he was trapped in the corner...exactly the moment that Kyo had been waiting for.

As Valley closed with him, Kyo shot his leg up, hoping to make Valley collide head-first with his boot, both to stop her in her tracks and as a bit of revenge to her boot to the head from earlier. If all went as planned and the Californian amazon was left reeling, Kyo would hop up onto the middle rope and spring off of it, hoping to grab a hold of Valley's head and bring her face-first into the mat with a devastating bulldog!

Valerie didn’t see what hit her in the face, but she felt it, and even heard it. There was a loud noise, the unmistakable crack of a boot connecting with a skull and the next thing she knew, she was looking up at the lights as she staggered back, struggling to keep her footing.

Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. She should have come at him slowly, should’ve avoided the risk, and just worked him over slow in the corner. She hadn't been so high on herself to think the man was finished, but she hadn't figured that Kyo would be able to call his reserves so quickly, or with such devastating effect. That would teach her not to underestimate him - he was a tenacious, resourceful fighter, not unlike his father.

Not a problem. She would gather herself, come at him again, and stick to her more methodical style. All she needed was a moment, and…

”What-”

Her eyes widened when she felt a hand grip the back of her head, and then the canvas rushed up to meet her face at terminal velocity. The world flashed white for a second, and when it came back, she found herself flat on the mat, her nose aching and her world spinning.

Groaning, she planted her palms flat on the canvas and started to push her way up, but it was a groggy, laborious effort.

Kyo almost gave a sympathetic wince as Valley ran face-first into his extended boot. Almost: after the way this woman had been liberally suplexing him all over the mat, it was hard to be sympathetic at this time. As Valley staggered away, he mounted the middle rope and leapt; he could not see Valley's face from this angle, but he imagined that it bore a look of surprise and onrushing vertigo before it was slammed hard into the ring canvas.

Sitting up, Kyo noted that Valley was now facedown next to him, barely moving, seemingly knocked out from that bulldog. It would have been easy to go for a pinfall right now: Valley was stunned, and barely in a position to stop a pinfall. Maybe it was ring experience, or maybe it was him wanting to get some payback, but Kyo knew that an opponent as powerful as Valley needed to be softened up a bit first.

Standing up and grabbing Valley by the head, he would try to pull her to her feet before sliding one hand around her thigh and another across her shoulder. Grabbing the hem of her singlet, Kyo would try to lift the big girl up sideways, giving vent to a loud cry as he did so-- the earlier suplexes were not doing him any favours. But that would not stop Kyo from shifting his balance suddenly and allowing himself to fall hard to the side, slamming Valley back-first into the mat and landing across her, her leg already hooked for a pinfall.

Assuming all of that went off without a hitch, the ref would immediately be next to them, starting the countdown. "ONE..."

The good news was that Valerie’s nose wasn’t broken. She knew exactly what that felt like thanks to a bad spill in a match she’d had with her wrestling club - a little sparring got too aggressive, and she wound taking a nosedive off the mats and onto the linoleum. Sent her to the hospital. Fun times.

This wasn’t quite as bad as that, but it was a fair attempt at second place. Kyo had rammed her skull into the mat with all his weight behind and some force on top for good measure. She wasn’t unconscious, but her head was swimming, her world was turning upside down, everything was going to topsy-turvy…

…no, wait, that wasn’t her brain being discombobulated, that was actually happening.

She shook her head as she was lifted up off the mat and brought close against Kyo’s body - an experience she’d didn’t hate all that much, if she was being honest. But before she could properly enjoy it or even process, she was sent careering overhead, and dropped down hard on her back, nailing her in the middle of the ring with a…T-Bone Suplex? She was reasonably sure that was the right name of it. A good one, too, with him holding her after the slam for the pinfall.

”1…!”

Still groggy, Valerie didn't have the strength to kick out at first, force to languish in his hold as her head cleared. He’d executed the hold masterfully, and she wouldn’t be able to get out with a small shake, even with her power.

”2…!”

The referee had just brought up her hand when Valerie kicked her legs hard and broke the pin with an explosive burst, kicking out and throwing her body to the side. Still too hurt to fight back, all she could do was try to roll under the ropes, hoping to make it to the outside of the ring so she could catch a breather.

The mat shook as the two of them crashed hard into it. Kyo was already lying across Valerie's body-- not a bad feeling, admittedly-- and hooking one of her powerful legs for a pinfall. Valley seemed out of it. The count even got to the two count.

But of course, one didn't get to be a wrestler of Valley's caliber without also being resilient as all hell, and so of course, the powerful blonde managed to kick out.

Kyo's plan, at that point, had been to try to lock Valley in with a punishing submission hold-- something like a rear body scissor, or even an abdominal stretch if he could manage it. Against a powerful opponent like Valley, he wanted to start punishing her midsection as much as possible, make it so that any heavy lifting she did was that much more painful. And he would have gotten around to it, too, had Valley actually stayed still: instead, the California blonde rolled rapidly out of the ring, escaping for some much needed recuperation.

It was a breather that Kyo wasn't about to let her have. He knew how dangerous Valley was, and he swiftly moved after, aiming to roll out from under the ropes behind her and cup his arms together to deliver a firm axe-handled blow into her back!

One of the things her mothers had instilled in her was that there was no shame in a temporary retreat - if the choice is between taking a count outside the ring or getting beaten inside of it, always choose the former. Leaving like this wasn’t about to get her any fans, but it was a sage move, giving her some distance to regroup and recoup - besides, she didn’t care too much about popularity points in the first place.

She was just starting to get her bearings back when she heard the clap of boots on the canvas behind her, and a quick glance in the ring confirmed her fears: Kyo was coming after her, already picking up enough steam to press his advantage. Before she could move to face him, she felt a sharp pain in her spine as his blow came crashing down, a shocking strike that reverberated across her entire body.

Valerie let out a groaning shriek that was equal parts annoyance and pain, as her meager plan was interrupted before she could even get any real benefits. The blow brought her down to a knee and almost dropped her outright, before she planted her fist on the ground to gain some balance.

With a haggard sigh, Valerie punched the canvas and started to rise again, looking over her shoulder so Kyo could see the defiance in her eyes. She wasn’t in a good enough spot to strike back just yet, but it would be coming, sooner or later, and she wanted him to fear it until then.
