Devon is a bit of stuck up feeling himself kind of person who when it comes to himself thinks he is the greatest thing to come to into wrestling. Being the son of a boxing legend made him this way unlike his younger sister Abby. He is always quick to say something he sees as witty or demoralizing towards opponents. Truth is he does this to seem more skillful than he actually is. Though when it comes to those he cares about he is defensive of them and would protect them to the ends of the Earth, like his little sister Abby.
History:
Devon is the eldest child of the Cox siblings to their father boxing legend David Cox. Even at a young age his father would start Devon in boxing training, and Devon would pick it up easily. While training in boxing though he would start to develop a love for Professional Wrestling and a specific wrestler by the name of Carolina Healtway. He followed her by watching her old matches and her newer ones after her return. But then the accident happened, he was in attendance to see Carolina wrestle that day. As Carolina was about to use her finisher “The Black Death” she slipped and landed hard on her neck. She was not moving and some in the crowd thought the worst had happened. Devon was devastated seeing his favorite wrestler possibly lifeless in the ring. Devon would be happy to see later that she was alive but when she announced that she would be forced to retire from wrestling his heart sunk. Devon couldn’t watch wrestling for a while after that and started to put even more focus on boxing.
During this time he became a young amatuer boxer and quite honestly had an amazing record winning plenty of tournaments and amatuer championships. Eventually he would go pro and his record would continue to increase as he became a two time light heavyweight champion and ended up with a record of 29 wins, nine losses, but boxing was cutting it for him any more. He felt like something was missing. While on hiatus he decided to go to a local wrestling promotion to check out one of what he would have to call guilty pleasures thanks to his father. That night he would soon be introduced to Samus Healtway, his favorite wrestler’s daughter. Seeing her that day set off a spark he hasn’t felt in a while and he wanted to go after it. Devon kept up his training to just keep him in shape but he wasn’t taking any new matches, everyone was surprised. Eventually Devon would announce his early retirement from boxing and would pursue a new career which he had not announced as of yet.
Devon would wait for new media to die down before he would head to Japan after completely taking all of his money out and moves into a apartment there. This was a big risk as he truly was putting all of his eggs in one basket. Then he would see it Carolina was having a week long training camp for all of those who were interested in becoming professional wrestlers. Devon would join the training camp, joining about 20 others who had at least some semblance of wrestling training under their belt while Devon only had his boxing training to keep him going. When he showed up he was glad to find there was no media except for LAW’s own people. When he arrived though some of the other trainers there recognized him and told Carolina. Carolina wouldn’t mind though and would just test to see just how committed he was to this. So every trainer was harder on him, he would do double the workouts, double the weights, take more hits. Eventually it caught up to him and he would collapse on the fifth day, compared to others it was impressive. Carolina would approach him herself and ask, why was he here, was he just doing this for publicity or was this a joke? Devon would tell her that he was doing this because he felt something missing in his life, he was a two time professional champion and he still felt like something was missing. He would even tell her about watching her daughter wrestle and how it made him realize what was missing. He waited until the media stopped following him, leave everything in England and takes the risk and moves to Japan. If he fails here he has nothing left, he would be known as a boxer who couldn’t make it in professional wrestling, a failure, and would have significantly less money than ever, and he knew his father would not help him. This training camp, everything that he was doing here, was it or failure. Finally it was the last day of the training camp and he had a match against a female wrestler, who had been training in wrestling for years. This match though was it, if he wins he gets the contract, if he fails he was most likely going to be homeless in Japan about a year or two. He fought hard with this moment, even thought at one point he may have broken her jaw but she eventually got him on the ground and forced him to submit, which as of now was his greatest weakness. That was it, he had failed and everything he had risked was for nothing. After he had showered off and was about to leave he was stopped by Carolina who would speak with him and said to not think of the loss as a failure, and to think of it as the start to a new beginning. That was when she handed him a developmental contract. His eyes went wide and the last bit of news made his smile bigger as she says that she will personally train him. He was so happy he hugged her and would let her know he would not fail her. With this new contract it was only the start of the beginning and he was going to do fantastic in it.
