Personality
Standing for all things right and good in the world, Lumen spares every effort to be the hero the world needs. All sorts of tales and stories exist about his exploits as a hero in many different remote locations in the world. His adventures have led him to the world of wrestling, where he continues to smile and do his best to protect those who can't protect themselves; and to inspire people, both young and old, to fight for what they believe in. He especially advocates for people following their own senses of justice and purpose (within reason). Over the course of many years, Lumen has built up a very avid following of fans who believe The Mighty Hero of Justice personifies what it means to be a real-life wrestling superhero!
Lumen tends to speak in a loud, deep tone of voice while posing and gesticulating. He often recites adages and turns of phrase, even in situations that don't call for them. Though he tends to call attention to himself and fills whatever room he's in with his presence, Lumen carries himself with a sense of sincerity and genuineness. Our Mighty Hero of Justice often hams up his delivery to prove a point. But for a lot of fans, somehow he makes the Shōnen hero x Superman shtick kinda cool. And he plans to use his beaming bravado and skills to bring goodness, love, and smiles to everyone and anyone he can!
History - Spoilered for long
Lumen is something of an urban legend in the world of wrestling and the world at large. There are many stories of his adventures and heroism going back about a decade, if not longer. Though there are many rumors, eyewitness accounts, and stories about him, they are just that. No one knows for sure whether or not Lumen's powers are real, or how many powers he has - we know only that he will use them for a righteous cause.
To get a sense of who the man is and what the world knows about him, we have to start at the beginning
The 33rd issue of My Adventures With Lumen had an online ad campaign spanning several months. Ads and promoters online touted it as the end of the series. When it finally dropped, readers/viewers were gifted the welcome surprise of learning that the webcomic would be transitioning to a live-action series! The series now blended elements from comic book art styles along with live-action. It also claimed to be based on true events. The reveal that Lumen was not only based on a real person, but that there was credence to the stories of his adventures, catapulted Lumen into the public consciousness.
The visual effects and editing used for this rebranded series were highly convincing. To this day, the credibility of the feats of strength and durability Lumen has pulled off is a hotly contested subject. The series would continue with monthly installments. But it would only run for about a year.
To anyone who wanted to capitalize on Lumen's rise to relevance in the modern-day mythology of comic book superheroes, it didn't matter if he was the real deal or not. To Lumen and the people in his camp, so long as the proceeds continued going to good causes and to people that needed it, they were happy. These circumstances got him the attention of many big businesses, giving rise to opportunities. There was a lot of legwork, but before long, companies began to mass-produce Lumen merchandise. Lumen was even offered a contract or two for movies depicting his heroics in the far reaches of the world. Around the time of the six-month anniversary of the show going live-action, a Mexican wrestling company reached out to Lumen and people close to him with an interesting offer. Representing this promotion was savvy wrestling manager and promoter Mina Diaz.
Diaz approached Lumen's publicist and agents with an offer that was too good to pass up: face her best and most notable client at the time, rising star Kat Hart, in a charity match. The match would be recorded and posted just days after it took place, and many of the finer details and the red tape surrounding how the match got to be arranged would not be shared publicly. But the match itself would be made accessible on Lumen's official website, and it could be streamed for a small, nominal fee. The contract for the match stipulated that all the proceeds would go to reputable children's hospitals, with an additional clause to ensure that the funds accrued would be matched by Mina's/Kat's wrestling promotion "Lucha Libre Alianza" if Lumen emerged victorious! The match was designed to bolster the fame and notoriety of both fighters and bolster them it did!
Lumen and Hart put on an hour-long classic! The short film showcasing the match began with Lumen receiving a letter from The Super Kitty issuing a challenge to him to test his fabled might against her own! To see if Lumen could hold his own against a tried and true championship-caliber wrestling veteran!
While Lumen was entirely new to the world of pro wrestling, he was no stranger to combat. Lumen graciously accepted. He responded with an invitation to meet in a ring he claimed to have set up in darn-near the middle of nowhere: on an uncharted island miles away from a beach resort. The match told the epic story of Hart showing Lumen the ropes and encouraging him until he learned to take to the ring like a pro. Just when he began to really find his footing, interlopers attacked! The masked assailants from the eco-terrorist group in the first issue of the webcomic! The two stars worked together to dispatch the baddies! They made sure to watch each other's backs as they did. And after taking out the trash, Lumen and Kat resumed their epic battle! The bout ultimately culminated in a very narrow count-out victory for Lumen. A young and up-and-coming Kat raised his hand high after the bell, commending his efforts and acknowledging him as a superhero true to his rep, and as a pro wrestler! The movie was a huge success. It helped get publicity for the LLA, and for Mina and Kat. Members of Lumen's fan base began to learn about and follow pro wrestling. It was so much of a boon that many other promotions sought Lumen and his peers out to make similar arrangements to book matches of their own with him against their top talents.
The success of this publicity stunt gave wrestling companies throughout the world very similar ideas. In the years that followed the release of the Lumen vs Kat movie, many other wrestling promotions reached out looking to repeat their success. And though most never got a response, every year or so, a new film would be released featuring a match between Lumen and a big wrestling company's top brass. The matches would always take place in secluded, remote areas and structured like a cinematic wrestling match for the sake of marketability. The stipulations and contracts mirrored that of his epic match with Kat Hart. Over a few years, Lumen had raised a few million dollars for good causes this way. The dollar amount is posted on his website to this day.
Accepting challenges from wrestlers and wrestling promotions this way turned out to be so lucrative and so helpful to good causes, that Lumen announced the cancellation of his live-action series just months after his match with Kat. Instead, a public announcement from Our Mighty Hero of Justice came with the pledge to continue accepting challenges like this from notable wrestlers all over the world for many years to come!
News of Lumen's first big cinematic match would spark all sorts of discussions in the corners of wrestlers' locker rooms and on business folk's conference calls. Wrestlers and promotions the world over would make public displays of calling The Mighty Hero of Justice, whether it was via social media or on their very own shows! Lumen would go out of his way to respond to many of them via video. Very often our hero would have to assure everyone that his tireless heroics would never cease, costing him the opportunity to accept many a match.
Every few months a new hyped movie would emerge online, showing Lumen squaring off with yet another high-profile wrestler, with trailers and promo videos leading up to the release of the film to build anticipation. In each instance, it was always an epic back-and-forth bout. Always a chance for our hero to win the day on behalf of his fans! Always a cinematic match set up in a ring in one of the far reaches of the world. This allowed Lumen to continue honoring his superhero duties in regions where his matches took place.
Each new match in this series brought more momentum and more fans with it. Within the span of just over a year, Lumen had gone from a scarcely talked about rumor to the subject of controversy in more than just a few locker rooms. Was he some wingnut that put on a costume and tried his hand at playing wrestler? Was he really some kind of savant? Perhaps he really is the real-life superhero he purports himself to be? How do you even wrestle someone like that? Whether other wrestlers loved or hated Lumen, more and more fans and followers of the sport slowly began to believe in him. Skeptics and evildoers didn't slow down all the big match requests. And it didn't slow down the wealth of charitable funds that these matches raised money for. And it didn't slow down Lumen's momentum! Though wrestlers had put him in countless tough spots in his matches, he remains undefeated in pro wrestling matches to this very day!
Years of success in the wrestling world without being signed to a wrestling company proper inevitably led to many promoters trying to change that. The biggest among them being LAW. Though many representatives tried their hand at getting ahold of The Mighty Hero of Justice, none were successful. For years, Lumen continued to make announcements declining any and all offers to sign with every promotion. But someone at LAW had eyes for him. Angie Defoe never gave up her agenda. After all, there was money in the idea of seeing Lumen brought to heel in the ring. The question was: how do draw him out? How does one get a real-life superhero to sign on the dotted line and honor a commitment as a contracted wrestler? Lumen was turning down offers left and right for literal years, after all. Even the hardest-working talent scouts and recruiters at LAW couldn't get a yes out of him. Many schemes were hatched and many attempts were made. With Defoe's intervention, they eventually, finally managed to meet our hero behind closed doors and officially take him on as a member of the LAW roster!
In the months leading up to his signing with LAW, The Assistant General Manager proposed an initiative. She presented it as a "signing bonus". Should Lumen participate in LAW as an active wrestler, the company would kickstart a suite of community outreach programs, along with the promise of funding for these programs and more for each win The Radiant One could manage to earn as a LAW superstar. The idea was to sell our hero on the idea that he could do just as much good wrestling for LAW as he does being a hero. Compounded with his idea was the belief among Angie Defoe and those close to her at the top of the corporate ladder that Lumen was a sham. So long as they were in control of his booking, so long as they got around to setting him up in matches before other wrestlers could get to him, they could expose him to the world for what he is. So long as they could force him into compromising situations and deal him loss after crushing loss, none of those outreach programs would be able to help people for very long anyway. It was the perfect plan. After all, there couldn't really be any truth to this reputation and public image he had built up as a Mighty Hero of Justice....could there?
To get a sense of who the man is and what the world knows about him, we have to start at the beginning
The Mythos
The first mentions of Lumen's super heroics date back well over a decade in a webcomic series titled "My Adventures with Lumen". There's much dispute over which websites first began uploading monthly issues of the series. The first hundred or so issues are considered lost media. Fully intact scans of any of those issues fetch a pretty penny from collectors and web archivists.
"My Adventures With Lumen" covered tales of a field researcher and ecologist traveling the world to gather data and workshop bright ideas to benefit relief efforts and environmental science. What our scientist lacked in funding and good luck, she made up for with a heart of gold and excellent trip-planning skills. Sasha Stone had a penchant for globetrotting. She also had a penchant for finding trouble where you'd least expect it.
The first issue of the series details Sarah's visit to an oil refinery off the coast of Iceland. She had arranged to pitch her schematic for more eco-friendly, more effective personal protective equipment. And at the climax of her presentation, the oil rig was hijacked by an eco-terrorist group. The unnamed organization promptly captured nearly all personnel and arranged to have the facility shut down permanently. Thankfully, in the eleventh hour, The Radiant One appeared. It is said that after a rousing speech, his presence alone was enough to light the way to victory. Quite literally. Somehow, the simple act of him powering up what he called his "Eye of Shining Justice" blinded the assailants. A series of fancy dodges and flashy punches and kicks kept the miscreants at bay long enough for the authorities to arrive. Lumen went out of his way to see the hostages to safety, scooping up Sarah and carrying her princess-style after the scientist had accidentally tripped and twisted her ankle. The image of Lumen carrying this woman to safety made for an iconic front cover.
Lumen and Sasha maintained contact behind the scenes. He would often come to the rescue of characters and civilians Sasha would meet in her travels to remote parts of the world. Whether it was stopping ships from capsizing, thwarting animal attacks, or saving people from natural disasters, Lumen was on the scene as much as he could be! With his trademark superhero tights and cape, his bright smile, and his bombastic personality, Our Mighty Hero of Justice would never fail to save the day! Or to put a smile on the faces of many a fan! Eventually, the comic got enough traction to be hosted on many reputable platforms. Seemingly anonymous third parties (made up of friends Lumen befriended throughout his adventures) arranged to get the comic on large platforms like Webtoon. They made sure to go the extra mile to ensure that the proceeds from the sales of the comic benefit the types of relief efforts and research that the character Sara Stone was trying to help with.
By all metrics, "My Adventures with Lumen" was a success. Readers enjoyed his web series and over the years his audience grew slowly and steadily. Expectations built up with each new release. And on the 33rd issue, something amazing happened.

- It should go without stating, but though he's appeared maskless at times, no one really knows who he is underneath the mask; he has yet to be identified
Let's do this one last time - The Real Story
Basic Info
Real Name: Felix Brighton
Age: 34
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 162 lbs
Felix is a bright blue-eyed, blonde man with a lithe, toned build (please refer to the unmasked pic in the gallery linked far above).
Brighton is very altruistic and very creative. Though his alter ego is far more boisterous and extroverted than his civilian identity ever will be, Felix gets along well enough with others. Lumen's personality is really just his own dialed up to 12. At his core, Felix has an unending desire to make a positive impact on the world around him, so much so that his efforts to do so have somehow landed him in LAW!
Felix grew up in a small town on the countryside in the States. His community was small and tightly knit. His tendency to take it upon himself to go out of his way to help others made him well-liked among his peers and the townsfolk. Growing up, he had an affinity for drawing and the arts. Thanks to his extroverted nature, he overcame his sheltered upbringing and discovered hobbies and disciplines that a less explorative soul might not have. Like many young boys growing up, he idolized comic book superheroes. In his efforts to work out exactly how he could blend aspirations together. The answers came to him through schooling.
Felix's parents hadn't pursued higher education. He took it upon himself to become the first generation in his family to attend and graduate college. That was the plan. In high school, he discovered that his love of drawing and designing extended to disciplines like costume design and VFX/graphic design. Two disciplines he went on to double-major in throughout his college career.
It was in college that he began to get sidetracked. Felix dedicated a lot of his time to his own devices, namely his friend group and his own machinations. Brighton was a very capable student and artist, so much so that one of the comic book pilots he had been working on had actually taken off with test audiences/readers. Against his better judgment, he began to pour all his time and effort into it. He roped his close friends into helping him promote it online, and through a series of harebrained schemes, "My Adventures with Lumen" was born.
The project took off harder than anyone expected. It really touched Felix. When he saw how much people loved his character and the world he created, he doubled down to the best of his ability. And in all of his efforts in networking, rendering, drawing, roping people into sound design, online ad campaigns, and so on, he left his studies behind. Felix Brighton maintains a facade to his parents that he graduated, but in reality, he dropped out of college to see to it that his web series could succeed. With the right connections, he was even able to transition to a live-action series, taking it upon himself to act the part of Lumen. His show would see many of his friends and collegemates assume different roles, both in-universe as characters, and out of universe supporting with the production. Eventually, this thing got even bigger. Never in his wildest dreams did he see people legitimately mass-producing merchandise or wrestling companies trying to make a buck off people's belief in Lumen, The Mighty Hero of Justice. The appeal of crossing over with pro wrestling got many people legitimately wondering how Lumen would fair in a match against some of the world's finest.
To follow through on all this, to make this work, his execution would have to be as good as the quality of his show. Lumen would have to lean on people he could trust. The reason he couldn't jump on many match requests was that he needed a plan. He needed to avoid getting found out. Any seasoned pro who got in the squared circle with him at this stage would be able to tell immediately that he had never stepped into a ring before. Lumen couldn't find help, understanding, and empathy from wrestlers, but perhaps Felix could! Together with his friends, they hatched a plan. What's the single best way to cover up wrestling experience in a match? Make it cinematic! With the ability to record, edit, and re-shoot as needed. The last variable was finding willing opponents.
By relying his on own judgment of character, and by doing a lot of research online, Felix determined that Kat Hart would be most sympathetic to his cause. Though his match with her kickstarted his relevance in the world of wrestling, the actual meeting between them was Felix lamenting his struggles to her over lunch. From The Super Kitty, Felix was able to learn a number of useful things that would serve him well on his path to etch Lumen's name into history in and out of the world of professional wrestling. Though Kat found Felix silly, she sympathized with what he was trying to do. She helped him train and gave him inside scoops on other wrestlers who might also be willing to chip in.
One thing led to another and with the help of his merry band of friends and his own skill set, Felix booked match after match with the good samaritans of the pro wrestling world (including some who played the part of heel but were really good folks deep down). They kept his secret. They furthered his cause. Somehow, Felix lucked his way into creating the character of Lumen and furthering his legend. And just when he began to think of how to wrap things up, it happened. LAW, specifically Angie Defoe called his bluff. By putting forth the best possible philanthropic effort she could in exchange for Lumen signing with LAW, she tested his commitment to helping others. Despite never having wrestled a match live and against the advice of his most trusted peers who helped him get this far, Felix donned his costume and his Lumen bravado and attended the meeting to sign his LAW contract. Though many people all over the world believed in Lumen, the truth is that Felix was flying through all this by the seat of his pants. Armed with a convincing act and fans who stood by him, he worked out and trained in the little time he had before he could start his career as a LAW wrestler and help people along the way!
