Unread post by 2ndBananaSovereign »

"My dear, what is a man's worth? Is it his will? His pride? His victories? His ability to manipulate or dominate others? No! The only thing that matters in life is, of course... Dandyism!"

Wrestling Info
Entrance music - Jack-A-Dandy
Alignment - Tweener (Chaotic Neutral)
Fighting Style - Tetsumi’s main strategy is that of a provocateur's— goading the foe into making mistakes with taunts & misdirection, luring them into either a demoralizing prank or a devastating counter. His aim is to make a fool of anyone who approaches him, emphasizing his power with slams, throws, & chops. He’ll even feign weakness to encourage his opponent to take bigger risks. Should a foe be caught unawares or flustered by his teases, they can expect to be tossed or locked in an embarrassing hold.
Type - Crafty Brawler
Basic Moveset - Grapples, Suplexes, Chops, Knee Strikes, Pranks
Strengths - Sly & observant, Tetsumi lets on less than he knows while awaiting the opportune time to strike. He attempts to get in the opponent’s head, confounding them with expressive language & joke moves. Tetsumi scarcely hesitates when acquiring the upper hand, & will toy with his foe if given the chance. Given his penchant for incurring the wrath of his opponent, he’s fairly durable, & his strength can catch others by surprise when all they see is a frivolous playboy.
Weaknesses - Though adept at dishing out teases, Tetsumi is terribly unused to reciprocation— being just as easily flustered by his victims; his Casanova-like facade is quick to crumble in the face of a bossy beauty’s bullying. Paired with a masochistic streak, he’s cripplingly susceptible to flirts & humiliating tactics from the fairer sex. His arrogant front can also get the better of him, lowering his guard at inopportune times.

Signature moves

Derailer - Sumi places his head under the foe's arm, wrapping his own around their waist before flipping them backwards.

Personality: A self-styled adherent of "Dandyism," Tetsumi is a quixotic philanderer with an eloquent silver tongue. A shameless flirt, he spares no effort in doting on women with playful irreverence— especially to fluster them in the ring. Shrugging off criticism, he undauntedly marches to the beat of his own drum: offering the impression of a pompous braggart with his head in the clouds. In truth, Tetsumi uses the masquerade of Dandyism to conceal what he views as his weaker, less-confident nature, having surprising introspection for all his grandiosity. Though proud of his aristocratic bearing, the stiffness of the high life gave Tetsumi an adoring appreciation for plainspokenness & emotive reactions, of which his teasing often yields; although due to being accustomed to rejection, he has difficulty handling his courting being taken seriously. He denies the lofty material status of his birthright, and instead feels the need to prove his worth by forging his own brand of nobility. Armed with false bravado, this fool’s easygoing smile belies a trickster’s cunning scheme— focused squarely on putting up a good performance. After all, what is he, if not an actor?

History: Born as the only-child to an aristocratic merchant family, Tetsumi experienced an isolated upbringing. His high status jaded the reserved youth’s perception, becoming insecure & distrustful of whether his relationships were based on his family’s wealth or his own merit. Combined with the stifling pressure of being the sole heir to the family trade, Sumi sought escape through delinquency on the streets of Yoshiwara in his adolescent years. It was only through a chance encounter with a middle-aged foreigner that he was introduced to "Dandyism," a free-spirited ideology that piqued the youngblood's interest. Tetsumi pestered the gentleman until he would place the lad under his tutelage. The experienced mentor helped him find some of the good in his upbringing, and compelled Tetsumi to find his own worth through the path of a dandy. The lessons would come to an abrupt end after his father sent for him to join Hyakka, the local paramilitary force, as an act of discipline. He was surprised to find the organization consisted primarily of women; that surprise turned to awe as Tetsumi witnessed the sheer courage the vigilantes held. Yoshiwara was mired in decadence & corruption, & yet despite appearing to toe the line, Hyakka in secret subverted the wicked laws of the city. Inspired to become a man worthy of the valiance his cohorts demonstrated, Tetsumi returned to his family & matured into a seasoned merchant, acting as Hyakka’s benefactor.

The good times didn’t last. Feeling threatened by Hyakka’s increasing prosperity, government officials approached Tetsumi, threatening to seize his assets if he did not stop contributing funds to the paramilitary. Refusing to comply, he was branded a terrorist & imprisoned. In response, Hyakka launched a rescue effort, breaking into the facility & relinquishing Sumi from his cell. The crimson-haired leader of the operation, introducing herself as “Okimi,” took him & fled to the mainlands with the support of her comrades. Stripped of the responsibility & pretenses of the high life, Tetsumi made a fresh start with some part-time work at a humble ramen shop. Looking to sate his boredom, the man used his elegant speech & physical training under Hyakka to pursue wrestling as a hobby— finding some moderate success at a minor league. That is until he became acquainted with, & was bested three times by a certain cheeky brunette. Tetsumi recommended his foe to “LAW,” a league he heard about from Okimi. The girl encouraged him to join as well, though he hesitated, recalling the loneliness his fortune brought him in Yoshiwara. He reconsidered his stance after the words of his old mentor resonated in his heart, resolved to spread the virtues of Dandyism through wrestling as a performing art: thus sparked the philanderer’s debut, following his ideals to the grandest stage of them all...! Or at least a few middling ones.

Extra Facts:
  • “Dandyism” is a romantic philosophy defined by individualism, eccentricity, & refined dispassion. It represents the freedom & savvy Tetsumi desires to stand out on his own, as opposed via his privileged background.
  • Likes banter, games of wit, hot-tempered women
  • Dislikes silence, seriousness
  • Tetsumi’s interests include manga, poetry, & cooking. Developed a knack for the latter by preparing meals for Hyakka.
  • Tetsumi has an adoration of all things cute, even finding spoiled & arrogant girls quite endearing due to how easy it is for him to get under their skin.
  • For all his ribbing, Tetsumi lives to serve, & desires a gal he can protect just as much as he can tease, typically offering bodyguard services for those he fancies to play the role of a competent gentleman like his mentor. Not that he’d ever admit to such an embarrassing fantasy out loud... or sober.

Plot Ideas/Preferences
Addendum - Tetsumi's a big ham, though I wouldn't mind using him for a serious storyline if appropriate. Ideally with a character the lively oaf can share a fun or interesting dynamic with. Naturally inclined towards humiliation-type matches, although up for probably just about any, save for Hentai. As for types of interactions, he could play a teacher-like figure for novice wrestlers in attempt to spread his highfalutin philosophy, or he could be a comedic foil to more serious fighters. He can also work with fellow goofballs, and has an obvious Achilles' Heel against more mischievous characters in a league like this.
