D&D Wrestling. . . Also, "Hi!" : D

Unread post by ixisnyx »

Had an idea for a D&D wrestling match. I'm sure its been done before, but I'd still like to do it.
For this I was thinking of, for now keeping it simple.
Select a playable race from the players handbook, volos guide to monsters, ect, make a wrestling OC based on the presets of theseplayable races, and have a match.

I currently have a dice combat system that can be used in any wrestling sequence be it D&D or just modern wrestling.
There's a fair bit of reading to that and it is honestly way simpler in practice than it looks by reading it.Many things are.
So I'll leave it Here
Spoiler
Its based on the D&D roll to hit system.
All stats are leveled out to 10 so everything can be played out simply with a d4 and a d20.
Roll to hit. If you roll 10 or more that will hit. Roll a d4 if you hit, and that's your damage dealt. Then rp out your turn based on the resulting rolls.
If you roll a 20 on the d20 rolls made with the d4 are doubled.
If you roll a 1 on the d20 the opposing player may roll with advantage(Roll the d20 twice and take the higher result) on their turn.
Hp starts at 10 and there's a recovery mechanic.
Every time hp reaches 0 roll a d20 to try and get back up. The DC(Difficulty class) to get back up starts at 5 for the first fall, and every fall after add on 5.
if you succeed your hp is back to 10. This means you come back with a full hp bar but it will be harder and harder to get back up every time you go down.
when the dc reaches 25 you cant recover, and your fall then is an automatic loss.

These are the base rules and over time there's been some additions.
If you're brought to 0hp with a critical success(rolling a 20 on the d20) whatever DC you need to get back up is increased by 5. So if the dc to get back up was 5 when you went down, and the roll that took you down was a 20, you'd need a 10 to get back up. However this does not mean that the DC for the roll after will be 15. The difficulty only increases for that roll. The roll after will also be 10 as the Fall chart will continue following the natural order of procession after.
If you are brought to 0hp by max damage(Rolling a 20 on the d20 and a 4 on the d4) The only way to recover is by rolling a 20, but much like the first rule of this set if you succeed the rolls will continue in procession.
This system has been play tested for almost four years now and it's still being improved on.

I'm interested in you'r thoughts on a D&D based wrestling match.
Would anyone be interested in a smack down in the forgotten realms? Is this a concept worth pursuing here?
Would love to hear your character ideas if you have any.

Also, hi I'm fairly new here. I joined the group a decent while ago but I've only now finally had the time to be able and do stuff here. Nive to meet you all. ^__^

EDIT: If anyone is interested in playing a match and trying this system out please send me a PM.

That definitely sounds like an interesting idea. I'd be down for trying it out.

I tried it but I'll be honest i hate dice games its to much of a random factor and there are chances where you get one side matches where you can't do anything. I perfer back and forth at least there its not to the point where my characters can't do any but take a beating. having said that however i did have fun and im willing ot play more of this im new but im sure my gensai and halfling will be able to do good in thsi dice match d&d seting

Thank you. I appreciate your honest feedback. The thing with dice games is they are a game that makes any kind of match possible, be it back and forth or one sided slug-fests. It's best to simply enjoy the ride.

I am glad you had fun though. I look forward to more matches. : D

If you are doing these types of RPs, it is suggested you have a taste for both stomps and close matches because dice does mean randomness. They can be quite fun like with any RP as you can still build up a move or moment within the fight. The rolls creates a means of adding tension and direct what the next state of the RP can go.
