We're coming up on LAW's fourth birthday in a couple months. And ahead of time, I thought I'd take some time to make some announcements.
In the spirit of trying to do everything I can to better LAW and ensure that people can have fun engaging in rp, I've put effort over the past few months into the following things.
1) We're retroactively updating the look for the LAW Hentai Championship and LAWLESS Championship. The front page and championship timeline pages have been updated. Please find the images for both belts below. Please comment with any feedback you have, whether you approve or not, etc. I personally think it's a strict upgrade for both belts.
LAWLESS Belt Redesign
Hentai Belt Redesign
Generally speaking, I advocate for championship reigns to be a year or less irl time. But sometimes things happen and that's okay. The agreed-upon solution for making it easier for champions to get in all their rp's and defenses and dropping their belts at a reasonable time seems to be to do matches in DM's or on discord and posting the matches after the current championship match or thread on LAW is complete. And this works just fine with me. However, as an admin trying to deliver the easiest and best experience possible for my user base,I want to offer more options. And so, I've begun the process of setting up private sections on the forum accessible to only the specific users and myself. This way, two users can do their thread on LAW (title defense threads or otherwise) while a champion has another one going on. This way, champions can get more defenses and threads in, and challengers don't have to wait in line for the previous challenger to finish their match. You can highlight whatever "main"/PPV feuds or matches you have going concerning the belt while building up other matches/stories in the background. There are a few users that aren't on discord or other messages, and there are also a few users that vastly prefer rp'ing on the forums over instant messengers. Since those people wouldn't be as inclined to RP over IM's, I'm really hoping that implementing this helps them and others.
Please coordinate with me if you're interested in setting this up for a thread involving a champion that currently has a PPV match or a title defense going. When the match in the private section is finished, I'll move it to the special events section where other title matches that aren't on PPV's go. I'm happy to report that some users already have matches in progress in these sections.
I want to stress that this isn't meant to trivialize title matches. Being recognized as deserving a title shot and competing in a title match/being number one contender is an accolade in and of itself. And the ability to do title matches in parallel doesn't mean that a champion should have a dozen or more defenses or anything like that. All the normal guidelines revolving LAW belts are still in effect. The addition of private sections you can use to do title threads does not change the rules concerning how titles ought to be used as plot devices on LAW.
3) Finally, for the most part, the most recent We Are LAW PPV has been going pretty alright in terms of user activity and I'm happy about that. If the pace keeps up with the current ongoing PPV matches and if all stays well concerning user activity and healthiness of the title scene, we will be aiming to hold a midyear PPV event in the summer around late June/early July. It will not be in the same scale as We Are LAW. Less matches and standard PPV rules. But I will do what I can to make sure it'll be an event worth looking forward to!
Your efforts as roleplayers help keep LAW alive, well, and a fun place to be. Thank you to everyone that strives to be cool, have fun, and facilitate a good time for others. If things continue to go well, I'll be ready to put together an event later in the year to introduce openweight/world title. Please continue being awesome and being responsive, receptive, and creative. As always, I welcome any feedback and ideas so don't be afraid to comment in this thread or to message me directly.
Thanks, everyone
