Episode Three: The Hunter
It was long and crude at the tavern, as several people were drinking, laughing and shouting and just having a good time. Of course, why wouldn't they? It was dark, raining and thundering outside; meaning that most people would be staying indoors for the time being. That would go the same for newcomers as well. In one corner, Fang, who was still wet and slightly dirty, was currently having some simple soup. Nothing special, but it should keep her warm. Now, her beautiful form was concealed by the long coat and hood (that she eventually pulled down) that was wet and dirty. In fact, her hair was slightly messy and had some dirt on her face.
After parting ways with Oscar, Fang was still on her mission to find a way of dealing with those who were pursuing her, which could give insight to what happened to her family and lands all those years ago. Unfortunately, the best she could do was play cat and mouse with those after her. The reason for this was that she was also dealing with more unwanted attention.
Over the last week, Fang had to abruptly leave the villages almost shortly after arriving in them. It turns that she was wanted, dead or alive and there were posters scattered about that had (much to her chagrin) accurately detailed her facial features. Since then, she had to deal with the unfortunate luck of fending off any mercenaries or bounty hunters that wanted to cash on that reward; and the price for her capture or head was not cheap. That would definitely explain why her coat was filthy and a bit tattered on the edges, along with her face and hair being dirty; not to mention how she had a bit of a sour, annoyed look on her face.
Now, the reason why she had the hood down this time, and not concealing herself, was that upon arriving to this town, which was to the south-east of where she encountered Oscar, she spent the entire day making sure that she would not deal with any attacks. Going from building to building, checking every side of the walls, Fang worked tirelessly to take down any wanted posters of her. She had to do this carefully or she would attract the unwanted attention of the town guards.
The town itself was well fortified, having walls to better fend off attackers. This meant there was a small militia group that guarded and protected the town. While this was good for Fang, in a sense that it would mean the less likelihood of being forced into a fight by another bounty hunter, it meant that those wanted posters made her a criminal; another reason to take down the posters. It was a lot of hard work, removing and destroying the posters without getting caught (and she almost was a couple of times) and it was only by the evening, when it started raining, that she was all finished.
The town itself was located near a mountain range that Fang was trying to figure if she'd have to venture through. She heard word of magic being used in lands on the other side of the mountain range, which sounded familiar to the magic that was used on the day her family and people were wiped out. Now, getting any more information from anyone in this town was difficult, as talks of magic usually ended with people she was talking to becoming instantly afraid.
They wanted nothing to do with magic, seeing as they heard legends of sorceresses and a Dark Wizard that were some horrifying that the people would rather pretend that they heard nothing.
In fact, the tarvern quickly quieted down at one point when some drunk fool blurted out something about the "Dark Wizard", which promptly made other people getting him to stop talking.
Regardless, it was unlikely Fang was not going to get any information from the people of this time for the time being. She would have to try and head in that direction and find out in some other way. Until then...
"This rain really needs to go away... Fang muttered to herself, "So I can at least clean myself up." She knew that there was a river that led into a nearby forest, which could try to bath in. Now, she could've just tried to get a bath while in town, but seeing as she had to brush off some unsavory folks making advances on her (usually by showing off the hilt of her sword or threatening to break their teeth or bust their jewels), she really wanted the quiet time.
At least there was no one actively hunting her at the moment, or so she thought...
