An Offer Worth the Wait

Vanessa I. Price took the time to look over some paperwork as she leaned against the island in her luxurious kitchen, taking a bit out one of the chopped carrots from a tray, letting out a content coo at it. She quite enjoyed carrots--something satisfying about the crunch of it to her. As she flipped a page, she kept going through it, looking through the contract to make sure everything was as it should have been.

She was preparing to have everything ready for her guest to arrive. Her absolutely stunning beach-side home was the wonder of all who passed it. Glass walls, hot tub, many spacious rooms, among other amenities made it fit for a princess, and Vanessa certainly considered herself one. Living anywhere else was against the question, especially as she lived in Japan. But of course, she also dressed for the occasion. With a black bra, she wore a matching black business jacket and black slacks to go with them, deciding to look professional, yet alluring. It was an effective tactic for her when she made business with certain people.

After biting into another carrot, VIP waited until she had swallowed it before calling out. "Get the living room ready. Our guest is due to arrive soon," said Price, finishing off the carrot as she took the contract and made her way to her living area. Leather couches set up, a round coffee table, fireplace, and giant TV just to start. Before Vanessa had made her way, she grabbed the arm of one of her security guards and gave him a smile. "Escort her to me when she gets here, Daichi," said Vanessa, making her way to the leather couch to settle on it, crossing one leg over the other as she resumed nibbling on carrots, waiting patiently for her guest to arrive.

When Chelsea had come into the room, Vanessa I. Price glanced up at her with a smile before finishing off the small carrot she was eating and listened as she spoke. "Ms. Chelsea Loski... You flatter me. But I think you'll find this invitation more fruitful than just appreciating my beauty," said the fashionista, reclining in the couch, resting an arm on the top of the couch to prop up her head. With her free hand, she gestured to one of the leather chairs to the side of the couch. "Take a seat. Get comfortable."

One of Vanessa's househands then walked up, setting down a white wine and pouring it into tour glasses before passing them to both women. Taking a sip, Vanessa nodded appreciatively before speaking up. "I don't like small talk with people if I can help it, so I'll cut right to my point. Can you explain to me how you don't have a contract with LAW yet?" She smiled at the redhead once more before taking another sip of her drink, patiently waiting for a reply.

Chelsea watched VIP lay there and eventually offered a seat while talking to her. Chelsea took the closest chair next to the couch she was on. "I like the sound of that." Chelsea said while she sat there watching Vanessa and seeing the help bring them wine glasses that were quickly filled. So far she was liking things and grabbed her glass to prepare to continue talking until Vanessa asked about her contract status. That was not something Chelsea enjoyed hearing, and her smile was replaced by a frustrated glare.

"I wish I knew. I've been offering to get a spot here and pointed out how much I bring to LAW. But despite the fact that I've been on a PPV I still have no offers. It's bullshit." Chelsea said looking at Vanessa and this time she was telling her with her face that bringing that up better be going somewhere or this would end with less enthusiasm than how it started. "You see the people they do hire, I've pummeled some of them. I'm a former world tag champ, I shouldn't have to take meager offers and handouts. Anyplace that signs me would see nothing but positive effects. Maybe they're afraid of me." Chelsea bitterly added, giving the drink a light sip after she finished.

Vanessa I. Price was watching Chelsea as she spoke, crossing her legs as she hummed into her wine glass, sipping on it and using it to obscure her lips. She patiently waited until her guests was done, and then she let out a laugh. She stopped it abruptly, but the laugh still escaped nonetheless as she looked at Loski with a smile. "Well, that's just about the saddest thing I've ever heard," said Price, letting out another soft laugh as she set her glass down, shaking her head. "Getting passed up at a company that hires the dirt worst talents they can conjure up out of the gutter. People who come and go after one match and just can't hack it. And yet Chelsea Loski is still just being toyed around with here."

She shrugged, watching Loski with a smile. "It's sad," repeated VIP, folding her hands on her lap as she gave the redhead an inquisitive look. "So what have you done about it? Surely you've done something about their oversight or disrespect, right?" Vanessa asked the question, but she knew the answer, just wanting to hear Chelsea try to explain it to her.

The support Vanessa was offering was unexpected, then again she should've known that someone who invited her out here would have seen her work and been enough of a fan that she saw her side of things. "Yes exactly! You've seen and wrestled some of those people here, they don't have anything on what I bring." Chelsea said, boasting of her superiority to most of the LAW roster. If VIP didn't add to that, Chelsea could go on forever about how she was better, before changing her thoughts towards what she had done to get hired.

"First I was getting backstage and getting the attention of a few cameras to bring attention to this problem, tried getting a trend going. It worked enough to get me a part time contract, which they clearly thought would be enough to shut me up. After that I kept going and now that I had a contract I started teaching those people who didn't deserve contracts a lesson in the ring by showing them how a real wrestler fights. My latest plan is to compete with this Apex thing, If I win it all they have to hire me, or they can risk me taking the belt somewhere that appreciates me." Chelsea said laying things out for Vanessa. The threat of taking the new belt and leaving being the only thing she didn't tell anyone before today.

Vanessa I. Price leaned back in her couch, watching Chelsea as she spoke. Ultimately, she didn't really care about her answer--she knew all of that already. She just listened just enough to not get surprised. When Loski was done speaking, Vanessa waited a few seconds. And then her eyebrow quirked as her eyes darted to the side in thought, then she leaned forward, looking at Chelsea with a laugh. "...That's it?" asked VIP. She knew that was it, but she nonetheless shrugged her shoulders, holding her hands up in a shrug.

"I'm sorry, they clearly disrespect you, string you along, overlook you, and use you while refusing to give you a full time contract? And all you did was... continue doing labor for them? That's all?" Vanessa looked at her with disbelief, shrugging again. She allowed Chelsea the opportunity to speak again though, smiling at her and allowing her an opportunity to explain herself. An explanation that wouldn't really matter, but she wanted to allow her guest the respect to at least defend herself.

Chelsea looked at Vanessa with a scowl, she knew some angle was being played her but couldn't figure out what. All she did know was that she told VIP everything and the girl seemed to not be surprised at all, only amused at Chelsea being gullible in her eyes. Chelsea naturally felt the urge to defend her actions. "I do labor for me, my name is in LAW's books and the fans know what LAW is denying them. Once my contract is up I'll tell the whole world that they're responsible for short changing me and make them give me a better contract assuming my Apex plans don't work out. And chances are the reason I don't win at Apex will be because of their disrespect. If I was going to take a simple contract I would have done what that Mindy girl asked me to do when she tried to give me a contract to be her bitch or whatever it was she told me. My labor is planned carefully so that it works in my favor." Chelsea said defensively. Whatever Vanessa was doing it was riling the redhead up enough that she almost stood up out of her chair.

"Now don't play dumb." Chelsea said raising her glass at VIP. "This invitation was already suspicious given I've never met you before and the way you're talking now only makes me curious. You already knew some of that and yet you seem to find it funny. What's your deal. From where I'm standing you want to work with me or fight me, and it's starting to sound like the latter so if that's not the case I think I'm owed an explanation for coming all this way." Chelsea demanded. She knew it was a bold play since she was in this girl's house but she was too prideful to stay silent now that she started to feel disrespected.

Vanessa sipped her wine as she listened to Chelsea, shaking her head every so often. She could tell that Loski was getting more fired up about it, and that was partially what the fashionista wanted as she quietly allowed her guest to unload her frustrations. "Mmm," was the first answer that VIP had to Chelsea when she was demanding some sort of explanation from her. A shrug followed. "Chelsea, let's both be honest with ourselves. You aren't winning Apex. And that's fine. Only one person can. And you'll be back to doing more wrestling in hopes they hand you a contract," said Price, setting her drink back down.

"And I just don't think you want that contract enough. Not enough to debase yourself, sure. But it hardly seems like you want this enough to... take it," explained VIP, canting her head at her guest. "And that's what's sad. Is being continually disrespected and your only recourse is to keep making them money at the expense of not getting enough paid back to you. That is sad. Were I you, I would force a contract from them. None of this asinine long-shot success. No, where is your righteous indignation at this? Why aren't you pounding every door, getting in every person's face who can get you a contract? Why aren't you fighting back against this company? All you're doing is fighting for them."

Vanessa shrugged, smiling. "That's just me though. And I think you have that sort of fight in you. To really force a spotlight on you, not just through winning in matches, no. By wresting it from others, and be the focus of any room you're in, instead of being that redhead girl desperate for a job still. I just don't think you recognize how pathetic your position is. And I think you think you know, but you actually don't realize it. Because for me and the rest of the girls in the back... Well, this just looks sad. You have to understand why it looks that way to everyone, right? And despite what I'm saying... I do mean all of this with the most sincere respect." Price took her glass again, sipping it as she let Chelsea think on all of that before continuing.

Chelsea chuckled at the thought that she wasn't winning Apex, given that in her mind she was the clear favorite. "Whatever helps you sleep at night in preparation for you not winning it." Chelsea said. She continued to wait out Vanessa's lecture for whatever she might add and while it was mostly condescending she understood where it was going despite it triggering a few spikes of anger. VIP thought Chelsea was soft and not outraged enough for her own good and it was playing it the safe way, which meant that she was giving LAW too much leeway. Chelsea had many thoughts about it, and was waiting for Vanessa to finish before she pointed at her again.

"If you weren't as smoking hot as you are I'd have jumped across this couch and knocked you around for saying all that." Chelsea said, but sensing she might actually cause a fight and ruin whatever good thing VIP wanted them to have Chelsea would drink more of the wine and savor the taste before she continued. "I get paid to break limbs and steal the show, so that's what I do. I do it well enough and I know how to market myself. If I walked out the door right now I would eventually get that contract I want and get everything I want with it. Buuuuutt...You saying all this has me curious. It's obvious we don't agree about how I've done things myself so far, so what is it you want now? What is this sexy business woman with impeccable taste in drinks want with me?" Chelsea said watching Vanessa closely while licking her lips to feel the slight tingle from the remaining traces of the wine on her lips.
