Booking Victims [For Noob!]

Location: A busy bookstore

It was a quiet afternoon, and Holly Matheson needed an escape. Even more so than usual, actually. Life wasn’t easy for the Loser’s Champion, and all the hours spent in the gym, or doing promotional material at LAW’s behest, were starting to wear her down. Even the everyday reality of holding wrestling’s biggest “booby prize” was wearing her down. She wasn’t sleeping well, fans snuck pics and teased her on the street, and every time she logged onto the internet there was a new gallery of her ass getting kicked in different and ‘hilarious’ ways.

So, it was time for an escape. Holly decided it was time to head out, on her own, away from the internet, leave her drowsy boyfriend with the baby, and get back to basics. Maybe plunge into a book, like she used to. A cute comedy perhaps, or an exciting fantasy. Yeah, probably fantasy. Anything to take her a couple of steps away from cold, hard reality for a little while.

Holly dressed casually, an old concert tee with a knee-length skirt, big stompy boots and a leather jacket. She smiled. Then, she saw it, near the door. The Loser’s Championship belt. By LAW rules, Holly could be in a lot of trouble if she was seen without the damn thing. She groaned. Reaching out, she pulled her ‘title’ off the counter and slid it around her waist. She pouted, realizing how snugly it was fitting. Holly bet the last Loser’s Champion didn’t have that problem. She zipped her jacked up, at least hiding the thing from view, and stepped out.

Holly arrived at the bookstore and made a bee line for the café. The incognito British Bombshell ordered the chocolatiest, sugariest thing she could find on the menu, and looked around the store. The barista put her cup on the counter, and she took it. Instead of her name, they’d drawn a chibi version of Holly’s face, crying, with X’s for eyes. Holly sighed. Clearly someone was a ‘fan.’

Holly tried to brush it off, and head to the magazine rack. The words were still mostly alien to her, but she still loved Japanese magazines for the colors and pictures. Maybe that would be a good place to start her day …

Trying to forget the troubles of the week, Suzume found herself needing a distraction. She had been desperately needing to blow off some steam and as her current record reflected, actual fighting was certainly not doing it for her. After spending most of the morning hours playing street fighter to remedy this, she figured she needed a bit of break from staring at a screen. Instead Suzume would instead opt to stare at some books. The woman adjusted her glasses, threw on some clothes, and headed towards her favorite book store to find a good read and maybe do some people watching if her book wasn't entertaining enough.

As she arrived at the bookstore Suzume would make her way to the magazine rack. She lazily browsed the covers until she saw what she wanted. She flipped through a few magazines before letting out a sigh and putting her current one down. "Hmmm...Nothing too interesting today." She said out loud. Noticing there was a woman close by though she couldn't help but apologize. "Ehehe woops. Prolly shouldn't talk to myself out loud huh?" She said before picking up another magazine.

It wasn't long before Suzume did a double take though. For some reason she could swear the woman beside her looked familiar. She just couldn't put her finger on it. Then it hit her. Frantically She pulled out her phone and began typing away at the keyboard. "Aaah! Oh my god you're totally her!" The brunette gasped as she turned to Holly and held out her phone, showing her a picture of the current loser's belt holder.

Holly’s eyes scanned the shelves, looking for something she could just absolutely lose herself in. The British Bombshell was drawing some looks from the customers around her, despite her ‘clever disguise,’ but she tried to ignore them. In her day dress, surely she couldn’t look like a professional wrestler, right? Even that hated, contractually obligated title belt was hidden. She could just find a nice book and forget her troubles. Holly took a sip from her coffee, making certain to shift her grip so that her hand would cover the rude little doodle it had been graced with.

Holly went for the magazines. Sure, she couldn’t read Japanese, but she could always appreciate the pictures, right? Holly found one, something that looked like it was about MMO’s, with the Night Elves on the cover. Holly reached out gingerly, between two customers, trying to reach her magazine without drawing any undue attention to herself. An attempt thwarted when one of the girls spoke up.

“Eep!” Holly gasped, thinking she’d disturbed this young woman. Holly smiled bashfully, and backed off, even as the girl apologized. No harm, no foul. Holly even took a step back, smiling apologetically, even as she noticed the girl was studying her … Holly could feel a bead of nervous sweat form on her brow.

“Oh, haha, I’m, um, I’m nobody, young lady! But I get that a lot, I’m just, ah …” then, the girl put it together, and Holly’s forced smile dropped. Worse, the girl had a photo ready to go, of Holly from her recent Loser’s Title photoshoot. “Bloody hell,” Holly groaned, glaring at the young woman.

"Gaaah you're totally Holly then?!?! Sooooo many questions!" Suzume blurted out, not exactly realizing her volume. She was excited to meet another lightweight wrestler, especially one that had been featured in a photo shoot AND had a title. The brunette didn't realize at first just which title it was, she was just focused on the fact that the wrestler seemed to be a big deal. An "aspiring" wrestler herself, she had so many questions. All of which she figured she'd ask now of course. There was no better place than a crowded book store to bring this all up after all.

Suzume looked back at the photo and then back at Holly. Something was off. Where was her belt? "Hey wait...you don't show off your belt outside?" She asked as she glanced back at her phone one more time. "I mean it's really shiny and...OH! Oh sorry! I umm...didn't realize it was the LOSER'S belt." She would say at full volume. While she didn't have any malicious intent with her comment she realized later that it perhaps sounded a bit mean.

At a bit of a loss for words now, Suzume would just let out a nervous laugh. "Ehehe I guess I have a completely different set of questions now." She stated. She wished she had found the picture in a magazine instead of on her phone. At least that way she could have buried her face back into the magazine.

“Oh, lord,” Holly groaned, rubbing her forehead and casting her gaze down to the floor for a moment. In an instant, her quiet morning out with some coffee had gone from bad to, well, incredibly bad. Now, she just had to see how this was all going to play out …

Of course, the girl kept going. Holly rolled her eyes, feeling a bit exasperated by the young woman’s enthusiasm, which was drawing more and more eyes to the both of them. The shape of the belt beneath Holly’s jacket seemed to become more pronounced, as if the Loser’s Championship could tell it was being discussed. Holly could hear the murmurs, the crowd gathering. The baristas had stopped what they were doing, snickering between each other and glaring toward the scene.

“Yes, yes,” Holly groaned, biting her lip at the mention of her specific title. Frustrated, the Brit took her free hand and unzipped her jacket, revealing her title belt in all of its pitiful ‘glory.’ She popped her jacket open to fully display the LAW Loser’s Chumpion plate, with Dead Last spelled out on the belt. “Here it is, have a good long look!”

“Yes, yes, take pictures,” Holly said, brow furrowed as several in the bookstore pulled out their phones and did exactly that. “So, now that you’ve outed me, girl, what do you want? My quiet morning out has already been ruined, so I might as well take time to answer a few questions!” Holly pouted, frustrated and embarrassed being outed like this, but there was no turning back. Time to just accept all of this.

Quite shocked at how the situation had escalated so quickly, Suzume found herself at a momentary loss for words. The last thing she expected was for the woman in front of her to show off her belt. Her eyes drifted down to Holly's belt as she read the words on it. She glanced back up at Holly before just looking to the side. She had been hoping to just have a nice brief conversation with another wrestler and maybe even ask for some advice. But instead she had attracted quite a bit of attention. And while the snickering and other attention wasn't aimed at her right now she nonetheless hated it.

"Oh! I umm...well...I'm a wrestler too and..." She stammered as she tried to regain a bit of control over the situation. "I was really just going to ask how you deal with all of...well this." She mumbled the last part as she referred to the onlookers. "Cause like with all the losses it's kind of rough right?" the brunette asked. Having been on quite the losing streak herself, Suzume just wanted to know how other wrestlers dealt with something like that. She had been on the butt end of some of the crowd's jokes recently but assumed that the woman titled the champ of all losers most likely had it way worse.

Holly glared at the other girl, not even trying to hide how put out she was. Normally a bit timid herself, Holly had been put through the ringer ever since she’d been forced to don the mantle of “Official Worst Wrestler in LAW,” and now the thought of having her cover blown, even for a morning, was just too much. Holly crossed her arms, huffed, and shifted her weight to one leg. Her hip thrust out petulantly, the edge of the Loser’s Championship now exposed, the Brit simply looked at Suzume and waited for her to start talking.

Holly nodded along as Suzume spoke, but her expression didn’t soften. The girl looked to the growing crowd of onlookers, and she huffed again. Being asked about the onlookers made Holly nod for just a moment. She took a deep breath, and sighed.

“Oh, so you’re a wrestler too, then?” Holly said, looking Suzume over, trying to recognize the girl from the gym, or backstage. “Not just one of those creepy ‘fans’ of mine from the Holly Humiliation subreddit? Because that’s a thing. And yes, the losses get ‘kind of rough.’ Between my opponents telling me I’d be better off in porn, or some of them just deciding to take me right then and there and make the porn, it does get ‘kind of rough,’ yes. Why do you ask? What exactly can I help with?” Holly planted her fists on her waist, struggling to get herself back under control.

It seemed every word out of Suzume's mouth was just drawing more ire from Holly. The other woman was clearly not taking well to anything Suzume tried to ask. Once again the brunette found herself trying to backpedal as she felt she had been doing for a while now. At the very least though Holly seemed to acknowledge that Suzume wasn't just some random fan. Although she could understand how that mistake could be made since she was far from well known, or at least given her past performances she hoped that was the case.

"Oh..." Was all Suzume managed to get out at first. Totally oblivious to any kinds of subreddits involving Holly, she couldn't help but feel bad that she even asked. Holly seemed to have it real rough, much moreso than she did. And her losses had thankfully gained her much less attention than Holly's had. "Sorry. My record's not exactly well...stellar either so I just wanted to ugh I don't know. I probably shouldn't have asked. Sorry!" Suzume finally blurted out.

Holly had her arms firmly crossed, and her glare etched rigidly on her face. The British Bombshell looked Suzume up and down, and almost felt bad for the way she was acting. The girl was another wrestler, and apparently one not doing so great herself. However, Holly felt like she’d been taking so many rough ass-kickings from life lately, and the one day she had tried to keep to herself had been summarily ruined, so maybe she didn’t feel that badly …

“Oh?” Holly said, huffing as Suzume recounted her losses. “Tell me, how bad is your record, then? Did you lose your big debut? Couple of the girls pick on you in the ring? Tell me, how many took you home, after?” Holly asked that question with a shake of her head, involuntarily blurting the words out.

“So please, let me know, how is your record. I mean, you’ve already asked, so why don’t we just go ahead and figure out exactly how much help you need, eh?” Holly said the words while sizing Suzume up and down, regarding her carefully.

Suzume felt an almost burning sensation as she was still the focus of Holly's glare. She was already regretting her decision to leave the house today. The brunette couldn't help but glance to the side, unable to look Holly in the eyes as the woman continued to list things that had happened to her. At least she could say that they both had lost their debuts though, a fact that Suzume would unfortunately try and highlight. "Well yeah. I lost my debut. And the second thing. But I guess no one took me home afterwards. I guess I would have appreciated the ride home though." She replied, perhaps not understanding what Holly was implying at first.

Soon came the real question though. Her record. Suzume had to think for a moment. A series of uncomfortable expressions and a blush would run over her face as she mentally recounted some of her losses. "Ummmm...4 losses. No ummm 5." She finally said as her voice soon lowered to a mumble. "Yeah. My record is...it's five losses I think." she reluctantly stated. Unlike the other woman she didn't have a belt stating how terrible that was, but it sure wasn't pleasant for her to admit out loud.
