Nothing Personal

"Aaaaaaand.....there!" Lara breathed, her feet finally toughing the creaky wooden floorboards of the abandoned Japanese castle. Unfastening herself from her rappel line, the adventurer gave a curious glance around the crumbling structure. She was here on a rather tricky expedition, searching for a mythical war fan from Feudal Japan. Legend had it that the steel fan could summon massive wind storms, scattering armies and villages before the one who wielded it's mighty power.

In short, the exact kind of artifact that drew someone like Lara Croft in to take it. Both to feed the rush for adventure and to make sure such an item never falls into the wrong hands. Thankfully she managed to get the jump on this particular item before most organizations learned of it's true location.

Not to say getting it was eay. It took Lara nearly 3 hours to navigate the labyrinth of a castle, dodging traps which included, crossbows, spike pits, trap doors. The usual fare. But in time she was finally able to wrench open the box in the private chambers, where the steel fan rested upong a bed of silk. Ever the dramatic dressing, thats for sure.

Letting the softest smile touch her lips, the adventurer leaned forward, ready to take the war fan and be on her way.....

There was a time when Yoko was pretty low on money and she still had to take care of her younger brother. This made Yoko accept a job offer like no other. The money was good and it seemed like Yoko had the right set of skills for it. What she had to do, is get into an ancient temple/castle, get some kind of a war fan and bring it to the client. They even told the location of the castle. A few people knew, actually, but no one wanted make it official, not before they pocketed the artifact, at least.
So, the client hired a single, armed woman, who can handle a gun and is rough in a fight. They did warn Yoko that someone else might be after the thing as well, they knew it was none other than Lara Croft, but they didn't tell that to Yoko, of course and just hoped that Yoko would take the thing from Lara one way or another. That was also Yoko's intention somewhat, she hoped that a little scare with her rifle would be enough if she was to meet someone there.

At the castle

Yoko was well prepared, she had her whole arsenal with her, as well as a grappling hook to scale some of the walls in case there was no entry. Yet her attire was quite revealing, light and not movement-restrictive. Kind of the usual for Yoko. Anyway, some of the doors were suspiciously open and the ones that werent, Yoko found another way, or climbed over the wall. Eventually, she entered the main building and started looking for a fancy fan. According to some stories, it destroyed the Mongol navy twice... Those were probably the rumors spread by the supersticious people. Regardless, this thing was worth a fortune for some people and Yoko was in need of a fortune.

Yoko heard some faint sounds ahead. Yoko focused her attention to that direction and made her way there sneaky beaky-like. Yoko peeked through the door and saw an athletic woman opening some old chest/box. Hold it! Before Lara could take the thing for herself, Yoko would shout out as she entered the room and pointed her rifle at the archeologist. Turn around and walk away. Slowly! Yoko would threaten as she would take a good look at the woman - there was no mistaking it, it was the famous Lara Croft, no wonder she got here first...

The client told Yoko that others that were looking for the artifact were doing this for the thrill of it, as a hobby. The client then followed with a justifying speech about keeping such an item safe and not letting it get into the ''wrong hands''. Long story short, regardless whether it was all bullshit or not, it made Yoko believe that she was doing the right thing and she was not letting Lara walk away with it. Never thought I'd meet the great Lara Croft herself, it's an honor, i must say...

"HOLD IT!"

EVen Lara couldn't resist a roll of her eyes and a sigh. Every damn time she wanted to simply look for an ancient artifact with supernatural powers, some coky upstart wanted to get their 15 minutes of fame and try to take her out. Slowly turning around with her hand raised, the archeologist raised a cocky eyebrow at the redhead.

"I'd say the same about you but I'd be lying since I have never heard of you red.." she replied, slowly looking around for avenues of escap, arms coming down to her side to hang loose.

Yoko stopped Lara in her tracks, Yoko was just in time. A minute later and Lara would've ran off with the relic, leaving Yoko in the dust, but thankfully the redhead now had the famous woman at gunpoint. Just as suspected, Lara was still full of sass even with a gun being pointed at her, which made Yoko smirk, since Yoko had some sass of her own. Don't worry, I think we'll get to know each other today. Yoko replied, noticing Lara's shifting attention and the fact that Lara wasn't complying with Yoko's demands.
However, if you do not step away from the relic with your hands raised, I'm afraid you won't be able to get to know me, Lara.

Yoko was hoping to intimidate Lara, so she had to convince the woman that she would not hesitate at pulling the trigger, something Yoko really wished she wouldn't need to do, but it appeared pretty obvious that Lara did not plan on complying... Don't try my patience, Lara! There's just the two of us and not a soul for a hundred miles and I'm not going to walk away empty handed, so do your math! Yoko gave Lara an ultimatum with a firm voice, readying her finger on the trigger.

Lara gave a soft roll of her eyes, "I very much doubt you are going to go through the effort of killing me." she sighed, pointing to where Yoko no doubt came from, "Came up the river huh? Yeah you won't be able to get out that way for some time with the storm brewing. I know the only safe way out of here, so if you kill me...you have an artifact, one dead croft....and nowhere to go."

Shrugging, Lara paced around the mercenary, "I am quite confident you won't kill me...but there is NO way I am handing this over to you." she said, before pulling out her pistol and firing off at Yoko, diving behind a rock for cover!

Yoko was really hoping that Lara would just place the damn artefact and just walk away, but as this charade went on, it became more and more apparent that this is going to turn south soon... The only storm that's brewing is the one thats in this room. Yoko replied, a drop of sweat trickling down her body as she was quite aware where this was going. Yoko did hesitate for a moment and Lara used that hesitation to pull out her pistol and open fire at the redhead. Aahhh! Yoko yelped in surprise as she tumbled and rolled sideways on instinct as the gun was pointed at her and she could hear the bullets whiz past her. Lara was more focused on getting behind something than aiming at Yoko, which gave the redhead beauty an opportunity to do the same, scrambling behind a corner.

It seemed that Lara planned this thing out while they were having a little chat, Crofty, that one... I'll be honest, I did hesitate, Lara..! Yoko would say before sticking just her rifle behind a corner and would fire a couple of blind shots that would splinter and shatter a bit of rock that Lara was behind. The Brit was lucky that because of its age, this temple was like 70% architecture and 30% nature at this point, but getting mixed in.
Worst case scenario, I intended to subdue you, not to kill you, but... Yoko would peek out to take another shot at Lara's cover.
BANG!
Then Yoko would quickly return back to cover. At this point, I feel like it doesn't matter to me anymore! Lara's surprise shots that nearly killed her convinced that this was no joke, she'd be fighting for her life here and she could no longer play nice with this woman...

Lara flinched behind the rock, the armor piercing sniper rounds shattering the edge of the rock and sending fragments raining down over her face. On particular shard slashed her cheek, slowly highlighting red with blood leaking from the cut. Poking out every few moments, Croft returned fire, knowing that while Yoko had the advantage in pure power, Lara had fare more agility when it came to her pistols.

"I mean....you'll just be the latest in a long line of failures!" she called back, shoving the steel war fan into her pack, "So many people wanna kill me and claim that title, but no one has ACTUALLY done it. Sorry to dissapoint."

Yoko was standing behind a rock that was formed by time and debris from the ceiling and Lara was behind a similar rock on the other side of the room. Yoko was pouring shots at Lara's direction and kept unloading her magazine despite Lara hiding behind the rock, because Yoko was a bit afraid of Lara firing back. As skilled and precise as Yoko was with firearms, she didn't have much experience in all out shootouts like this, so she was panicking a little.

Lara, however, proved herself pretty confident, finding intervals between Yoko's shots and retaliated fire inbetween them, forcing Yoko to cover. Aah! Yoko gasped, backing into cover. This sure made you pretty arrogant, Lara! I can't wait to put you down a peg! But she would do the same thing as Lara - poke her gun out, fire and get back into cover. After she repeated that a few times, the next time she poked her nose out, the rifle clicked, the magazine was empty. Yoko would get behind cover again, scrambling to reload her rifle as soon as possible, since it could be bad if Lara caught her like this.

Lara gave a satisfied smirk as the click of an empty magazine echoed through the cavern. Placing a hand over the rock, she vaulted over her cover, sprinting towards the fiesty redhead, "Arrogant? I prefer the term self assured myself!!! Does wonders for your mental health!" she grinned, leaping at Yoko to make a grab for the rifle, her pistols slid back into her holster. WHile she herself would be unarmed, this was the perfect chance to try and deprive Yoko of her own firearm. The quicker she took THAT out of play, the quicker Lara could beat her down and go home with a valuable artifact!

Shit! Yoko cursed quietly when she ran out of shots. She quickly turned back behind her rock and rushed to reload, but Lara was like an olympic sprinter and a parkourist. The redhead only managed to remove the empty magazine and drop it on the ground when the archeologist already appeared next to her, for some reason not pointing a gun at her. However, she was jumping at Yoko, who in raised her rifle up in front somewhat like a shield to protect herself from an attack.

But instead of a blow, Lara gripped Yoko's rifle as well and the two women started struggling for the rifle, grunting, leaning a bit left and right in the struggle. NNgh! Want to disarm me, huh?! NNgh! You must think you can take me in hand to hand! RRgh! Instead of trying to push Lara away, Yoko would change her approach a bit - she would try and raise the rifle upwards and if it was above their heads, Yoko would try to forcefully turn around, which if successful, would force Lara to turn around as well and both women would be back to back.

If all went according to plan, Yoko would tug her hands forward and down, leaning herself down as well so that she would forcefully vault Lara over her back, which should be relatively disorientating, but knowing this woman, Yoko wouldn't be too surprised if she landed on her feet.
