Fortuitous Encounter

Location: The Airport

Sam had recently flown into Japan after being recruited to compete with the new wrestling organization on the rise: LAW. It was the start of something big for her. At least that's the outlook she had on this opportunity.

"Oh crap! Oh crap! Oh crap! Where'd I put it?!"

Well, that would be the outlook and attitude she'd be exhibiting right now if she hadn't made the mistake of misplacing something very crucial on her way to her new apartment.

"I was just on my way to where I'd be staying. Everything was going swell. The flight was nice, the attendant gave me a free snack. I thought everything was gonna be ok! And then I just had to misplace! E-excuse me, ma'am! Have you or any of the staff seen a small wallet around? Small, square, and blue?" She stammered a bit as she ran to the clerk's desk and ask if anyone had seen her wallet. Just moments ago, Roberts had just hailed exited the airport. She was getting ready to pay for a train ticket so that she could make her way to town and get herself acclimated to being in a new country. But the bluenette would freak out and make a mad dash towards the airport when she realized that somewhere during her short walk, her wallet had fallen out of her pocket.

When the clerk told alerted her that no one had seen it recently, Sam thanked her before pacing up and down the vast facility searching frantically for her lost wallet. She walked with one hand placed on the handlebar of her carryon suitcase, which held the last of the rations and money she had immediately available to her for her stay in Japan.

Diana stared at her reflection in the plane's small window. Her expression was blank but her mind overflowed with doubts and emotions. She had only a few days earlier been given the opportunity of a life time thanks to a chance encounter. Ever since she was sixteen, Diana had been fighting to provide for her three siblings after the deaths of their parents. She may have died had it not been for the unlikely arrival of a professional wrestler from a new Japanese circuit. At the insistence of her siblings, this kind soul invited Diana to come back with her to Japan to compete in the LAW wrestling organization. The woman even offered to let Diana stay at her home..

It had been a difficult decision, the Young girl was doubtful at first, having never experienced such altruism in her life. In the end, Diana made the choice to go to Japan and attempt to make a name for herself in the ring. Even now as she stared out at the clouds from the plane window, the Brazilian girl wondered if she'd made the right decision. She felt sick to her stomach at the thought of leaving her beloved brothers and sisters more than eleven thousand miles away. Still she knew it was for he best. Even though they would be separated, she would be able to provide them with a steadier income and they wouldn't have to worry about her safety anymore.

The plane broke through the clouds and before the young girls eyes stretched a massive gray urban expanse. It was the largest metropolis Diana had ever seen. while many would be amazed by the sight of the largest metropolitan area in the world but not Diana. The thought of wandering aimlessly around such a massive city surrounded by people who didn't speak her language caused Diana to panic. She held her eyes shut and squeezed her seat handles until she heard the planes tires screech against the tarmac.

It was just as bad as she thought. Diana wandered the airport in circles with a piece of paper that contained vague directions to the place she would be staying. After thirty minutes of roaming aimlessly, the Brazilian girl sat down with her hands on her cheeks, staring at the floor. She was going to consider the feasibility of going back home but at her feet was a blue wallet.

Diana looked around. There were so many people, any one of them could have lost their wallet. Diana took the lost item and made her way for the front desk to turn it in to the lost and found. as she made her way toward the help desk something caught her eye. Sticking up from the crowd was an unmistakable blue question mark shaped lock of hair. It didn't make sense, There was no way she could be here! The Wrestler whom Diana had been saved and taken in by, Samantha "Lucky" Roberts had left a day earlier than Diana for Japan. There must have been serious delays for her to have arrived at the same time.

The reason for Samantha being here was irrelevant, Diana was just relived to see her, completely forgotting about returning the wallet. She pushed through the crowd, making her way toward her savior, who she hoped would rescue her from this suffocating airport. "Ah! Miss Roberts, is that you?" Diana would call out as she drew closer.

As Sam trudged and searched through the airport in despair, she'd further contemplate aloud.

"Now that I think about it, not everything was on the up and up. My flight was delayed for bit wth that layover in San Diego. And now this. Urgh, really hope I find it..."

Unbeknownst to Samantha, her room mate and friend from Brazil had already arrived. In her mind, they were meeting at Sam's place in a residential district not too far from the airport. Roberts did very much look forward to seeing her Brazilian friend, again. Despite her rough upbringing, Diana was as genuine as they came. The two were already very good friends after the experienced they shared in Diana's hometown. And their bond was sure to be strengthened further by venturing into LAW together.

While pacing about, Sam's discourse with herself would come to a halt when she heard a familiar voice call her name. Her search for her wallet would take a backseat to her happy reaction to seeing Rial, again. "D-DIANA!" She yelped as she practically leaped towards her friend and hugged her. "It's so good to see you!!! What are you doing here so soon?! Ah, it doesn't matter! Oh man, there's so much for us to do!"

Just the thought that she'd have a someone she knew coming into LAW with her, let alone a friend like Diana, filled Sam with joy. Simply meeting the green-eyed girl in this very moment seemed to turn her entire day around.

Diana's eyes widened and she tensed up for a second as Sam preactically lunged at her friend, embracing her in a friendly hug. After the initial shock wore off, Diana would smile and Embrace the blue haired girl back. "I'm so glad you're here!" the Brazilian girl said, letting out a deep sigh of relief. All her worries were melted away by Samantha's being here. Diana felt that such a coincidence had to be some sort of gift from God and she said a short thankful prayer of thanks.

Sam was clearly excited to see Diana which made the green eyed girl happier than she would like to admit. The idea of being cared about so deeply made Diana's heart race with excitement.

"I was worried I'd never find your home and you'd think I'd run away." Diana said looking down in embarrassment. "But since we found each other, it's alright! please lead the way!" Diana said with a small smile.

"Heh, you know I'd never suspect you of desertion! I've got way too much faith in you for that!" Sam would say assuredly while her friend was still looking down. The blue haired girl was still clearly elated to be with Diana. She'd take her friend by the hand and make for the exit. After taking excited two paces forwards, she'd abruptly stop before remembering something.

"Yeah! Let's go ho-OHH! I almost forgot! I lost my wallet!" Sam finish her statement with a slightly panicked and bashful tone before going on to continue in a sadder one.

"There's like 3 month's rent in there!! How are we gonna afford to stay at my apartment!?" she said as she buried her face in her hands in a fit of despair.

Diana lifted her head with a small smile, her green eyes gleaming with hope. Samantha's excitable way of speaking and exaggerated hand motions were completely unlike Diana's more reserved and serious personality but nonetheless, Samantha's cheerfulness managed to bring a smile to the Brazilian girl's face.

The two were about to leave when Samantha announced that she had forgotten her wallet which contained three months rent. Diana's eyes widened with shock until she remembered that she to had forgotten something. "Oh! I found this on the ground." She said pulling out the lost wallet she was on her way to return before she ran into Samantha. "Wait... you kept three months rent in a wallet?" Diana asked lifting and eyebrow but still smiling in slight disbelief.

Diana couldn't imagine keeping that much money in a place that could be so easily lost or stolen. Then again, Diana couldn't imagine having that much money either. She could tell that she was going to have a veary interesting time staying with her friend Sam.

Sam's animated and active demeanor seemed to persist for about as long as her problems did. She was almost ready to leave the airport with a facial expression matching the warmth and relief of her green haired friend. But the realization that her wallet was still missing seemed to send her into another frenzy. Thankfully it would be cut short when Diana came to her rescue by revealing to her, her lost wallet.

The blue haired woman would eagerly reach for and retrieve her wallet while reacting verbally. "Omigod, you're a livesaver!" She'd say quickly as she collected the item. After noticing Diana's raised eyebrow and hearing her comment, she knew she owed her friend an explanation. Roberts would chuckle slightly as the two continued walking and explain the large sum of money. "Well, actually, I won about half of the cash in a raffle they were having in a store in one of the airports I had to stop by during layover. In hindsight, depositing it in the bank prooooobably would have been a lot smarter." She finished her statement by looking down with a slightly embarrassed look, but quickly perked up as she reminded herself that the crises had been averted.

"But all of that is ok! Cause you found it! And together, we'll take care of each other and make sure we succeed! Right?" Sam would say with gusto. The two would begin to enter the train station after killed some time with a short walk and some conversation/catching up.

Diana covered her mouth as she let out a small giggle at her silly friends story. She couldn't decide if Samantha's nickname "lucky" was fitting or not. On one hand, her flight was delayed but on the other hand she managed to win a raffle only to then lose her wallet and all her money only to have her friend find it by coincidence. Diana felt like "Random Luck" Samantha would be a more fitting nickname.

Before the Brazilian girl could tease Samantha about her name, her blue haired friend said they would take care of each other in an attempt to succeed. Ah! O-of course! Diana blurted, her tan cheeks turning slightly red. I'll be sure to work extra hard so I don't let you down! You won't regret bring me here, I promise! Diana said with such passion that her hands wouldn't stop shaking. There was nothing the girl feared more than dissapointing her savior and being sent back home in disgrace.

Diana face turned deeper red when she noticed people were staring at her after her public outburst. "I-I'm Sorry!" she said bowing over and over to the murmuring crowd Andy to Samantha like she'd seen on TV.

Roberts didn't expect Diana to react the way that she did. She had only ever seen the woman behave so passionately when she was either fighting or when it came to her younger siblings. It hadn't occurred to exactly how much Diana wanted to make her proud. At least, it didn't occur to her before this very moment. After getting over her initial surprise, Sam smiled at her friend. When Diana began bowing over and over again, Samantha reached out to her and held her face with her hands to get her to stop. She looked her friend in the eye with a warm gaze and smile before speaking in a caring tone.

"Diana....It's ok....I would never regret bringing you along! I'm...I'm already proud of you." She smiled ear to ear as she made this assertion. Sam paid no heed to the gossiping crowd. She clearly prioritized Diana over whatever embarrassment either of them may have felt.

If Diana seemed to feel better after being comforted by Samantha, she'd suggest continuing their trip. "Ready to go home?"

Diana's bowing was suddenly halted as Samantha placed her hands on her cheeks, holding her face in place. The Brazilian girl's dark face would redden further as she was touched by the girl she admired. "Eh—" Diana's words were lost in Samantha's kind smile.

Diana's lip quivered as Samantha reassured her that all was fine. Diana didn't notice e whispering of the crowd as all her attention was on the blue haired girl. Something about Samantha's steady calm voice and her hands on Diana's face sent tingling sensations up Diana's spine. Diana would have cried as she heard Samantha say she was proud of her but her tears had dried up long ago. Instead, Diana would return the smile. At last Samantha asked if they should go home. A warm sensation burned in Diana's chest as she heard the word "home". A place to live, a place she could live with her savior, Samantha.

"Mmhm!"The Brazilian girl would nod fervently to the suggestion.
